Announcements

Today our special mission offering will support the United Methodist Campus Ministry, Texas Wesley, at the University of Texas, which serves hundreds of students. Berkeley has strongly supported this ministry over many years.

The Spiritual Care Committee invites you to come to the CLC on Saturday, September 10, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to walk the labyrinth and pray for those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001, as well as for our enemies. This is a physical form of Christian prayer and all are invited to participate. You can find more information in last month’s Berkeley Buzz newsletter.

Our United Methodist Youth Fellowship welcomes you to participate with them as they “Step into Africa” on Sunday, September 11. Bethany United Methodist Church offers this interactive exhibit, sponsored by World Vision, to increase Christians’ awareness of the humanitarian crisis on that continent and how we can respond. Brad Straup, our youth director, can provide free tickets to interested adults if you call him at 680-9321. We plan to leave the church around 12:30 pm and return around 3:00 pm.

The Worship Committee invites everyone who is interested, or possibly interested, in helping to plan Berkeley's worship opportunities to participate in the final meeting of the year on Monday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

The Committee on Nominations and Lay Leadership is working now to match the gifts of our members and constituents with opportunities for service in and beyond our church. If you have a particular interest, please contact Rev. Jeanne Devine at 447-6633 or revjeanned@sbcglobal.net

UMCOR Disaster Response Training will be offered at Lockhart FUMC on Saturday, September 24, 8:30 am 4:00 pm. The cost is $30 per person and you may register online at www.umcswtx.org. For further information contact Emmett Eary at 663-3150.
