Five brief quotations Paul the Apostle and the Founding Fathers

Quotation One ( Patrick Henry)

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was
founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the
gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason people of other faiths have been
afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship.” (Patrick Henry)Note to
Quotation One: In Henry’s day a “religionist” is someone who promotes any and all
religions.

Patrick Henry's famous treason speech "Give us Liberty, or Give us Death!"

Quotation Two (Isaac Newton)

“I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by men who
were inspired. I study the Bible daily.” (Issac Newton)

Quotation Three (Charles Darwin)

“Often, a cold shudder has run through me, and I have asked myself whether I may
have devoted myself to a fantasy.” (Charles Darwin regarding his anti-Christian
theory called evolution)

Note to Quotation Three: In two of Charles Darwin’s most famous books, The Origin
of Species and The Descent of Man, he uses the subjunctive mode in his conclusions
(phrases such as “if we may suppose”) over 800 times. However, modern-day
evolutionists never mention this fact when promoting their faith.

Quotation Four (Paul the Apostle)

Hebrews 1.1-4:1. Long ago, in various allotments and in many ways, the Ever-Living
(having already spoken to the forefathers by means of the prophets) (2) in these
last times spoke to us by means of a Son, Whom He appointed heir to all things,
and through Whom He also created the ages.3. The Son is the glow shining forth
from the Ever-Living’s glory and an exact representation of His Real Being. And
so, by upholding all things [everything in the universe—all laws, structures,
orders, decrees, and promises] by means of His powerful utterance, having made—by
Himself—a purification for our sins, sat down at the right side of the Majesty
upon high [the right side always being a place of high honor]. 4. The Son has
become so much better than the Divine Messengers, for He has inherited a far more
excellent Name than theirs. (The Apostle Paul to his converts)

Quotation Five (The quotations regarding what our forefathers thought of democracy
will all come under Quotation Five) (John Adams)
“Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy.
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders
itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” (John Adams)

John Adams, 2nd President of the USNote on Adams’ Quotation: America made its
first major move away from its republic founding and toward democracy in 1913 when
politicians changed the Constitution and began electing US Senators instead of
their being appointed by state legislatures. This move also centralized more power
in Washington DC, another fate that the Founders feared would happen.
(Fisher Ames)
“A democracy is a volcano which conceals the fiery materials of its own
destruction. These will produce an eruption and carry desolation in their way.”
(Fisher Ames, although extremely outspoken in his views, is known as one of
America’s “forgotten” Founding Fathers)

******************************
(James Madison)
“Democracy is the most vile form of government… democracies have ever been
spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with
personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in
their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” (James Madison, known as
the father of the Constitution)

******************************
(Walter Bagehot)
“A democracy will never, save after an awful catastrophe, return what has once
been conceded to it, for to do so would be to admit an inferiority in itself, of
which, except by some almost unbearable misfortune, it could never be convinced.”
(Walter Bagehot, 17th-18th Century mathematician, journalist, author, banker,
economist, and classicist)

Note:
It is my view that the last quotation by Walter Bagehot fits the US Government
more than any I’ve seen from the past.
