This site is mainly a drill and practice site where students compete against other students. This site is full of action and color that is engaging to students.

Possible Problems
Kidspiration 1. Students must be trained on how to use the software or at least introduced to it

2. It can be overwhelming for someone who is just starting out, too many visuals on the screen for some children TenMarks 1. If you get the problems wrong it gives you the chance to fix it 3 times. 2. If the teacher picks a grade level that is above the one they are in, the problems could be too difficult for them. 3. They must have Internet connection in order to complete these activities. 4. Students need to keep track of what they have done for proof of completing an activity before the teacher gets her weekly report. The students are not able to print a certificate or their grade for that activity. ClassScape 1. It requires a subscription that is expensive 2. Students can access it from home ONLY if the teacher assigns the time to be available in after school hours. 3. Students cannot get onto ClassScape unless they have a username and password. 4. They cannot get on and just work on a specific goal and objective that they are having trouble with. The teacher must assign them a test and provide them with a testing code in order from to take the test. 5. Teachers are not allowed to print the test and questions because they are copyright protected.

Learn360 It requires a subscription that cost money in order to download the videos after the trial period is over. When your school/county no longer has a subscription you cannot use the videos in your lessons and presentations Some standards do not have videos to go with them. For some teachers it could be a problem that that has to preview the video to determine the following: If it meets the standards being taught Is content appropriate for all students It is highly recommended that you download the video prior to class, if not your could have too many people on the internet at the same time and cause the video to download slowly and ended up pausing while trying to watch the video. Freerice If the game gets to difficult the student can pick the level of difficulty and go all the back to level 1 and start all over from the easiest and not challenge themselves. The teacher needs to put something in place to help ensure that this does not happen. This site will read to them when they click on the speaker but the site has no animation or video. It does have still pictures but they are limited.

Dancemat The students do not have to keep their fingers on the home row keys to do what is asked of them to complete the stages. They can peck the keys or use the pointer fingers to complete the task. If the teacher is not watching and walking about to monitor to make sure what the children are doing then the program is not 100% effective. It is hard to track student progress unless they print certificates to show progress. Glogster If the student is not very creative and/or does not want to take the time to create a good presentation. Or it could be the opposite the glogster could be too busy and overwhelming to some. This can be very time consuming. Storybird The teacher must teach the students how to do it first before allowing them to go for it independently them selves. The teacher must bookmark the website for students to get to it, they must have a subscription to the site with a username and password in order to log in. The site is open to the outside world. They are limited to the artwork that is on the site. They cannot import pictures that they have drawn and created themselves to truly make a personal book and publish it. IXL It requires that you have a subscription but you can still do the problems online

but you have a limited amount of time that you are allowed to play on the site. When they (teacher or student) pick a goal they can only work on that goal they cannot work on several goals and objectives at the same time. If a student has a visual problem or a reading problem may have some difficulty reading the math problems independently. You would need a text to voice feature turned on so the student could hear the question read to them or have a peer read it to them. The questions do not always appear in the same order that you could record them in advance to help them out. Prezi If you do not have Internet access then you cannot work on your presentation unless you have Prezi desktop, which are included with the Prezi Pro and Edu Pro licenses, which cost additional money. The free account to teachers and students do not have access to this feature. This is truly a program that you need to model and teach your students how to use. They need some guidance before you just say go for it, if not they may get a little frustrated before they even begin. Tux Paint I do not see any problems with this program. I use this program with my EC students and my regular students. They love the program and are able to freely express themselves. It is easy to navigate even with the use of a trackball, touch screen, and enlarging the screen for my visually impaired student.

Mangahigh The math problems can not be read out loud by the computer to the visual impaired students. Certain games on the website are very fast paced. For a visually impaired student they would have a hard time locating numbers on the keypad unless they had an assistive device where the number keys were enlarged for them to see them better or had a keyboard where the letters where enlarged. The computer screen does have the option to be enlarged for them to see it better if need be. ArcademicSkillBuilders One of the biggest problems that I have come across using this game in the computer lab with my students is that they want to play other games not just the ones that they are assigned to. They want to play games that are often above their level. Another problem that I have seen is that children that keep ending up in last place end up giving up and do not want to keep playing because they feel like losers. This is a negative to the competitive part of these games. If there was a way to play the games that they did not play against others and only themselves the games would be more beneficial to some students.
