Corpus Christi (Latin for Body of Christ) is a Western

Christian feast. Its purpose is to honour the Eucharist, and as such it does not commemorate a particular event in Jesus' life. It is held on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. Its celebration on a Thursday is meant to associate it with Jesus' institution of the Eucharist during the Last Supper, commemorated on Maundy Thursday, and this is the first free Thursday after Paschaltide.[1] In the Ordinary Form of the Roman Catholic Church, the feast is officially known as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. In many English-speaking countries, Corpus Christi is transferred to the Sunday after Trinity Sunday by both Catholics and Anglicans. At the end of the Mass, it is customary to have a Procession of the Blessed Sacrament (often outdoors), followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Father's Day Prayer

Thank you, friend Jesus, for my father who loves me, for my grandfather who cares for me and for God, my eternal father, who made me and is always with me. How Blessed I am! For fathers, who have given us life and love, that we may show them love and affection today and all days, we pray to God, our Father. For fathers who have lost a child through death, that they may find hope, and solace in your never ending love, we pray to you, O God, our Father. For fathers who have died, that God may welcome them into that peaceful place that is without ending, we pray to you, O God, our Father. God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves, the responsibility of parenting. Bless those who have lost a spouse to death ... or divorce who are parenting their children alone. Strengthen them by your love that they may be and become the loving, caring persons they are meant to be. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Bevi Tamargo What is a father? A father is a very strong and protective figure in our lives. A father provides and gives strength. God the Father embodies the essence of all these roles. He is strict but merciful. Just but forgiving. He is our provider and source of strength. Fathers day is a day when we remember our fathers. It is a special day to thank God in His role as our Heavenly Father.

We thank Him for all the many ways He manifests Himself as a Father in our lives, and through many different people. Most of the time through own fathers. But at other times in other people who may act as fathers to us. Like people who give us practical sense and advice in times of confusion.

And it is a time to remember and thank our own Fathers for their sacrifices and their strength. For their leadership and their hardwork. And most of allfor their love...a love that would put their children before themselves.

PAGNINILAY:
Fr. Maxell Lowell C. Aranilla

CATHOLIC FAITH:
A bout thirty years ago there were two brothers who got married. One was a tidy man who married a tidy wife and they had a tidy family. The other was a more carefree man who married a more carefree wife and they had a large family. Soon after marriage an enterprising salesman was able to convince both families to invest in all 24 volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica. The first brother built a glass case with a lock and key for the precious books. The message was given to the children that these were precious books and were to be used with care, better wash your hands, and dry them carefully before touching the books, and then return them carefully after use, or Mom and Dad will be very displeased. In the other house the books were just stacked on the floor at the side of the living room. I remember once visiting this house and I saw the three year old son using the Encyclopedia Britannica! He could not reach the food on the table so he brought over the volumes and stacked them to make a stairs to get to the food! By four he was looking at the pictures. In a few years he was using the books to help him in his grade school, high school and college assignments. If an argument arose in the family, the books were frequently consulted to add new information and resolve the issue. try of Jesus. He reached out to people at mealtime; he broke down barriers by sharing meals with publicans and prostitutes; he manifested himself at meals. The Gospels tell us that he shared a fellowship meal with his disciples a short time before he died. The early church re-membered, were reconnected with Christ by a simple cultic celebration of the same meal. In this meal they recalled how Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to his disciples. So too Jesus takes each person and blesses them, sets them apart for his service. In fulfilling this call we will be broken. It is only when we are broken and know that we are needy that the Lord can make his home in us.

In time the practice developed of taking the Eucharist to those who, because of sickness, could not be present at the celebration. The sacred hosts were reserved for the sick. Later, they came to be reverenced - because they were the real sacramental presence of Jesus. While this devotional development has a logic and a value, it also has it's danger. The danger is that "the real presence" becomes too identified with the hosts in the tabernacle. The bread that Jesus spoke of as taken, blessed, broken and given was something more than that, it was a living bread immersed in the midst of life. There is great danThe first family has now grown up ger in having a too-holy-to-beand left the nest. The books are as touched God. This tendency to put what is precious away in an untouchable place of reverence can also be seen regarding the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, the feast we celebrate today. Importance of Father's Day

Father's Day festival is considered extremely important as it help acknowledge the contribution of fathers to individual families and to societies as large. Besides observance of Father's Day provide children an opportunity to express love and respect for their fathers. The sentiment goes a long way in strengthening father-child relationship and consequently in the emotional development of a child. History of Father's Day The idea of celebrating Father's Day Festival was given by Ms Sonora Dodd, a loving daughter from Spokane. Her father Henry Jackson Smart single-handedly raised Sonora and five of her siblings after the death of her mother during childbirth. When Sonora attended a Mother's Day Sermon in 1909, she thought that if there is the day to honor mother then there should also be a corresponding day to honor fathers. Sonora worked relentlessly for years to ensure that the idea of Father's Day becomes a reality. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge first recognized Father's Day. In view of the massive popularity of the festival, in 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. Over the years, the concept of celebrating Father's Day spread beyond geographical boundaries. Today, millions of children across the world express gratitude for their dads as they celebrate Father's Day festival. Significance of Father in our Lives Many people laughed at Sonora Dodd when she gave the concept of having a Father's Day, as traditionally, only mother is regarded as the sole nurturer of a child. The role of father is often relegated to a secondary status as compared to a mother. But all of us know that father is just as important for a child as the mother is. If mothers are the heroes of child rearing, significance of father in the development and emotional well being of a child is no less. Children depend on their father for their spiritual, emotional, physical, financial and social well being. For daughters, father is the ideal man in the world and also the first man they adore, while for sons, father is an idol and the strongest man they aspire to emulate. Though traditionally father is seen more as a provider and guide for children, the scenario appears significantly changed in nuclear family culture of today. With most husband and wife working, fathers in present times are as involved in child rearing job as the mothers are. Today, most fathers do not shy away from changing nappy or taking the difficult task for putting the baby to sleep. This cultural change is helping in strengthening father-child relationship and consequently in emotional development of a child and building of stronger family bonds. Significance of Father's Day Festival Father's Day festival give us the opportunity to express thanks to our Daddy for all their unconditional love and affection. Observance of Father's Day makes fathers feel that their contributions are acknowledged in the society and also by their children. They feel proud of themselves ! Besides by celebrating Father's Day, children come closer to their father. For, most often children take love of their parents for granted. Celebration of Father's Day makes them ponder for a while on the important role their father play in their life. This helps them appreciate the selfless care and protection provided by their father and hence they come emotionally closer to their dad. Children must therefore take full opportunity of the day and express their gratitude for fathers with all their heart. The best way to do so is to do small things that daddy appreciates and by saying I love you, Papa with a gift of beautiful flower.

Philippine and Korea Labor execs renew MOU on EPS

Despite being shaken by the global economic crunch, Korea will continue to hire Filipino workers. This after Labor Secretary Marianito D. Roque and his Korean counterpart, Minister Lee Younghee, signed on 30 May 2009 the Memorandum of Understanding on the Employment Permit System (EPS) which could send up to 5,000 OFWs to Korea within the next ten months.

Next, we developed a track of expanding our domestic demand. This decreased our reliance on exports. Our exports to GDP ratio now is 28.5 percent against 49.0 percent in year 2000. Under the new MOU, the minimum standards set by the Philippine government, such as free accommodation, are ensured thru the POEAs authority to review contract offers of employers. It likewise minimizes pre-departure cancellation of employment contracts and pre-termination of existing ones by disqualifying employers as well as workers with derogatory records.
