Addressing the priority for a 'new energy future' identified through NESS

Where Are We?

Our circumstances are unlike any before now... and are changing faster & further. Our way of life relies on large-scale energy... yet the way we source energy is now starting to threaten our way of life. Only clean, renewable & sustainable energy can co-exist with agriculture, human health, economic security & nature now. Community Renewable Energy is an important key to shifting the system.

Growing Energy & Resource Needs

If Village Earth were 100 People

24 don't have electricity (& most who do have only enough for light at night) 5 control 1/3rd the world's wealth ~ All 5 are US citizens 50 are malnourished and 1 is dying of starvation 33 have no safe water

Over 50% of Australias greenhouse gasses come from electricity use...the electricity sector [is] the biggest single contributor... Transport is the second biggest... at 16%.

NSW Demand for Generation

Ninety per cent of electricity used in NSW is generated from coal-fired power stations.

How important do you believe it is that we source, produce & use energy available in or close to our region?

Would you like to see part of our electricity in this region owned by the community, instead of only by government & corporate organisations?

How willing would you be to invest in a community-owned wind farm?
