In my work as an Engineer(?), I try to explain to my internal and external customers in a manner that they would easily understand so that I can get my point across more clearly. For example, when my external customers are technically challenged, I use simpler, more descriptive words rather than the technical terms in order for them to understand what I would doing or what I might be needing from them in order to process their requests(?). I reiterate orders / requests back to my internal or external customers to check if I have understood what is being asked of me. In cases where the message is not clear, I ask for a more detailed explanation and in return, confirm with them when I have gotten the correct orders / requests. (?) I check for understanding from my customers by recapping what has been discussed at the end of a conversation and confirming if we have gotten each others messages across clearly.

I am critical of my own work. I manage to remain objective when there is negative feedback by looking outside of the box and seeing others points of view and

accepting my areas of improvement, and working on them. (?) I have a full understanding of what is expected of me as an Engineer(?) which is to _______, _______, _______, _______. I make sure that I fulfill these roles to the fullest by reading up on the subject matter (?) and asking more experienced team members or superiors regarding matters that I am not that knowledgeable of. As much as possible, I exploit my strengths such as _____, _____ and ______ in order for me to achieve the best possible results in my work. I also try to turn my flaws into advantages. For example, I tend to be a thinker and though this may sometimes result into a longer time for projects to be in the planning phase, it also means that the action phase tends to go on more smoothly because I have thought out all the possible loopholes and have a plan of action in place should any of them occur. I empathize with the customers when they have difficult situations that need my attention. I look closely for tell tale signs of anger, frustration or boredom and address these by letting them vent out first, so that they dont get in the way of my providing excellent customer service. I make sure that the customer feels that he or she is a priority by keeping them abreast of the status of their projects (?). Even when there is no change in the status, I still call or text them to assure them that we are keeping tabs on the situation and that the project is still on-going. While working in accordance to company guidelines and policies I make sure that the customers needs are met satisfactorily. I under promise and over deliver.

LEADERSHIP

I set rules and deadlines for myself ahead of the given deadline in order for me to raise the bar on my selfexpectations. I respect those in authority and accept orders given to me within those of my scope of responsibility. I support my leader/s projects and initiatives that I know will be for the benefit and goals of our team. I am ready to take on more responsibility should there be a need. I can cover for a teammate if the situation calls for it, like an emergency and he cannot come to work and if it will benefit the customers and my team.

TEAM WORK

I disseminate information and technology I have gained thru seminars and workshops to my teammates for the benefit of our team. I coordinate and cooperate with my team during projects

and if there is a need for me to extend my responsibilities according to the demands of a certain customer, I do not hesitate to do so. I respect and understand each of the teams individuality, beliefs, eccentricities and personal quirks in order for us to maintain a good working environment within the team, regardless of our personal agenda, we have a common goal, which is to succeed in ________ (?) and that is what I focus on and not on personal differences that has a tendency to arise when you work closely with others. I evaluate my daily tasks and focus first on what is most needed to be done. I prioritize with the thought of saving on company resources while still providing the standard level of customer service that is required of me. I closely monitor the status of a project (?) to see whether the plans are being met, forecast should there be any delays or discrepancies and try to alleviate them even before they happen.

PLANNING

When I am at work, I consider myself not to be just Jettison C. Tobias. I consider myself as Meralco. My every action and communication with internal and external customers is driven to point out the positive image of the company. Not only in action, word in deed but also in self presentation and projection. I venture to provoke an image of competence and reliability, traits that Meralco is known for. I am transparent with our customers, making them aware of the scope of my responsibilities, my limitations and how I can best help them. Should the need arise for me to cooperate with other companies or LGUs I do so with integrity and honesty. I communicate with others inside and outside of the company with courtesy and amiability. I strive to provide outsiders with the same capability that has been known as a company trademark for several decades. The idea that there is no other choice but Meralco is subtly indicated with my every transaction.

PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKING

When difficulties arise, I depend on the trusted methods and policies that are the core values integrated in our actions as Engineers(?). When faced with angry or difficult clients, I tend to empathize rather than sympathize, making our position clear but at the same time pushing for resolution that is clear and efficient both

When faced with difficulties beyond my control such as ________, I look for other ways to go around, beyond or thru the problem by asking the help of my superiors or by those who have experienced like situations. I do not like leaving any stones unturned until I find the right solutions.

If there are any changes in policies and rules, I look for the need beyond the need. I try to understand the reasons behind the change in order for me to better adapt and support these changes. Change being inevitable in any circumstance, I try to gain knowledge about certain changes, how they are to be implemented, how this affects myself as an employee so that I can be more equipped to handle my tasks while following new regulations or policies. I actively attend meetings and provide my two cents worth on how to improve our way of doing things. I make sure that my suggestions are still within company policies and would not compromise any standards that we are to maintain within the work place. After a project, I tend to go over what went wrong or if there are glitches that were encountered along the way of finding the resolution. This is for me not to repeat the same error or lack of judgment or delay so as to gain personal development and I also share these insights to my workmates for them to learn to avoid certain pitfalls that I have encountered.
