512- color VGA interface Connect to VGA monitor directly. It can be used to verify VGA timing. 7-seg LED and 8 LEDs Display different kinds of numbers and signals. 16X2/16X4 character LCDs AUDIO interface Buzzer interface PS/2 mouse and keyboard interfaces Standard mouse\ keyboard interface supports device 3.3V/5V. Can be used to verify PS/2 interface agreement and achieve one IO device expansion. USB2.0 high-speed data interface Use the CY68013 from Cypress to achieve the expansion of USB interface which realizes the high speed data transfer with PC. User customable serial interfaces Directly expand the FPGAs IO to USB interface. It is used to assess the FPGAs ability of achieving of USB PHY or serial standards customized by user.

Button Switch
The motherboard has 5-bit button switches, labeled from left to right are SW5SW4SW3 SW2 shown in Figure 2-1. When not pressed, the buttons keep high level. When pressed and released, they generate a falling edge and a rising edge.
7-seg LED
The motherboard has one 4-digits 7-seg LEDs, which can be used to display digits. The schematic is shown in Figure 2-2.

Buzzer
The motherboard has one buzzer. It can generate tones of different frequencies. The schematic is shown in Figure 2-3.

VGA_HS(Horizontal Sync, horizontal scan HS) VGA_VS(Vertical Sync ,vertical scan VS). Each color has 3-bit control lines (high, mid, low), which serially connected the IOs of FPGA through resisters 100om300om and 1Kom separately. As there are three color lines (red, green and blue) of VGA port, there are in total 9 color control lines which can show 29=512 colors. VGA_HS and VGA_VS signals are TTL level which control the horizontal scan and vertical scan of VGA monitor separately.

Figure 4-2 PS/2 DIN physical interface PC mouse and keyboard use 2 signal lines to communicate. PS/2 bus includes clock line and data line. Data line uses 11-bit serial signal which includes: start bit, 8 data bits, parity check bit and finish bit.

Pin definition
Take 1602 LCD for example. Pin 1: VSS is ground.. Pin 2: VDD is 5V power supply. Pin 3: V0 is the contrast adjustment terminal of LCD screen. When connected to positive power supply, the contrast is the weakest. When connected to the ground power supply, the contract is the strongest. If the contrast is over strong, it will cause ghost shadow. You can use one 10K potentiometer to adjust the contrast. Pin 4RS is the resisters selection. It will select data registers under high

level and command registers under low level. Pin 5RW is read/write signal line. Read under high level and write under low level. When RS and RW are low level at the same time, you can write command or show address. When RS is low level and RW is high level, you can read busy signal. When RS is high level and RW is low level, you can write in data. Pin 6E port is the enable port. When E port changes from high level to low level, LCD module executes command. Pins 7 to 14D0 to D7 are 8 bits double directions data lines.
