Thisdementiacompetencyframeworkoffersasteppedmodelalongsidethedementiacarelearningpathwayanddistinguishesthe differentcompetenciesneededacrossthreestepsfrombasicawarenesstospecialistknowledgeandskills: Step1:Essentialinformationhighlightsthebasic,essentialcompetenciesrelevanttoallsectionsofworkforceandsociety.Also thiscouldformpartofmandatoryinductiontrainingforallhealthandsocialcarestaff. Thisframeworkhasbeenmappedwherepossibleagainstsuggestednationaloccupationalstandards.NationalOccupationalStandards (NOS)definethecompetenceswhichapplytojobrolesoroccupationsintheformofstatementsofperformance,knowledgeandthe evidencerequiredtoconfirmcompetence.Theycoverthekeyactivitiesundertakenwithintheoccupationinquestionunderallthe circumstancesthejobholderislikelytoencounter.
