UNTIMELY FIGS "Untimely Figs" as found in Revelation 6:13 is translated from the Greek word "olunthos" (ol'-oon-thos).

The Greek word means an unripe fig. Ultimately figs are those which are not fit to harvest because they are green. Unfortunately, many people in this generation will be like the untimely figs. They will be harvested out of season by antichrist. Why? They are biblically illiterate and unaware of the chronological events leading to the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let's turn to Christ's teaching which will form a bridge between the parable of the fig tree and the Greek word "olunthos". Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; " A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. The certain man is Jesus. He owns the vineyard and was disappointed with this nonproducing tree. Luke 13:7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, 'Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down;why cumbereth it the ground?' The dresser is John the Baptist in the spirit of Elijah. The fig tree is symbolic of God's children. The nonproducing tree was wasting space and taking nutrients away from producing trees. Do you plant seeds when the opportunity presents itself? Do you utilize the gifts God has given you to produce fruit? Or, are you just taking up space? Luke 13:8-9 And he answering said unto him, 'Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: (9) And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.'" The prophet, in the spirit of Elijah, wished to give the tree better soil. In other words, he asked for a year to teach God's children. Cutting down a tree is a final act. At the end of the mellennium, the tares and those that don't produce will also face a final act, the lake of fire. We are going to turn to the Greek word "olunthos" that we learned a moment ago. We pick up Revelation as the sixth seal is being opened. Always remember, antichrist appears in the sixth seal, the sixth trump and the sixth vial. Revelation 6:12-13 And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (13) And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. The stars of heaven are Satan and his fallen angels. Green figs are not easily shaken from the tree. It will be a great wind that harvests these green figs out of season. How easily are you shaken? What does it take to throw you off balance? If you focus on God's Word, you will not easily be shaken or thrown off balance. Don't allow yourself to be caught up in the traditions of men and their imaginations. Focus on the subject and object of God's Word and you will reap from the Bible that which God wants you to have sealed in your mind. Focus and get on the Rock of Christ and you will be unshakable. If you don't, you will be harvested with the untimely figs. Let's turn to Isaiah as we continue our study of untimely figs. Isaiah 34:1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. We are reading of the day of the Lord's vengeance. Every nation and every people will listen to the Lord's voice. Isaiah 34:2-3 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and His fury upon all their armies: He hath utterly destroyed them, He hath delivered them to the slaughter. (3) Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcasses, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. The armies in verse two are the same found in Rev. 19:19. The Lord will destroy Satan and his armies. Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. In the Septuagent, a Greek version of the Old Testament, "falling fig" is "olunthos". Here we have our untimely figs again. What will happen to these green figs? Let God's Word tell us and be a reminder for us to plant seeds and teach. Isaiah 34:5 For My sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of My curse, to judgement. Idumea is Esau or Russia. The people of His curse are the Kenites. All nations and people that don't align with God's plan are subject to the sword. What is God's sword? The Word of God is a two-edged sword. Focus on the subject and object of that Word. Don't allow anyone to shake you from that Word.
