For this activity, students will be placed in groups of 4.

Each student in the group will take turns rolling 2 dice and then adding the numbers together. Students can either write down their number on a dry erase board or build their number with snap/unifix cubes. After each student in the group has rolled the dice and built/written their set, students will order their numbers/trains from least to greatest. If you are focusing on higher numbers, you can have the kids count each die as a separate number to create 1 whole number. For example, if a 3 and a 5 is rolled, students could either make the number 35 or 53. In this case, students will NOT build the set with snap/unifix cubes. They will record their number on paper/dry erase board instead. After all students have rolled and written their numbers, they will place in order from least to greatest. You can also use wooden cubes to create your own number dice with random numerals for students to roll, write, and order. To spice it up a bit, you can also order from greatest to least.
