Learning Objectives : Pupils will be taught to subtract decimal numbers up to three decimals places.
Learning Outcomes : At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to : 1. Subtract accurately a decimal number from another decimal up to three decimal places. 2. Subtract successively any two decimal numbers up to three decimal places. 3. Answer 8 out of 10 questions provided by teacher correctly.
Pre-requisite knowledge / Previous knowledge: Pupils have been taught about decimal in previous lesson
: Evaluate, compare and counting : Music, English : Confidence, precise, cooperation and carefully : Cd Player, Box and question card, Dienes blocks and workbook.

1. Teacher gives a question about daily life that relates Thinking Skils:

2. Teacher asks all the pupils to read the questions. 3. Then, teacher points a pupil to tell the class about what he understands from the problem. 4. Step 2 ( 15 min)
1. Teacher introduces Dienes blocks to the pupils and guides them to represent 4.728 by using Dienes blocks. Teaching aid: -Dienes blocks

2. Teacher guides the pupils to subtract 2.231 from 4.748 by using the Dienes blocks

1. Teacher introduces the algorithm for subtracting decimal numbers after the pupils understand the concept. Thinking skils: -Compare -Evaluate

2. Teacher reminds the pupils to arrange the numbers according to their place value. 3. Then, guide the pupils to subtract it correctly to get the accurate answer.
4. Then ask pupils to compare the answer with the total of Dienes Blocks.
Step 4 ( 10 min)
1. Teacher divides the pupils into 3 groups. 2. Teacher conducts question and answer session as a reflection to what has been learned. 3. The group that get most correct answer will be declared as the winner.
Closure ( 7 min)
1. Teacher ask pupils what they had learnt 2. Teacher also shows the operation again to reinforce the concept to subtract decimal numbers up to three decimal places. 3. Teacher summarises the lesson and gives out the exercises in the workbook (Page 24: no 1,3,5,7 and 9).
