3. Teacher plays the music -Evaluate and asks pupils to pass the box which contains the

answer cards to their friend who is sitting next to them. 4. The pupils who is holding the box when the music Integration: stops is supposed to pick up -English an answer and paste it on -Music the blackboard below the reasonable question. 5. These stages will continue Moral Value: for 5 times. 6. Later, teacher -Confidence introduces -Precise

the lesson of the day.

Lesson Development Step 1 ( 10 min)

Introducing the concept of subtraction of decimal Numbers

1. Teacher gives a question about daily life that relates Thinking Skils:

to the concept of subtracting -Compare decimal numbers. The total weight of two pineapples is 4.728 kg. If one of the pineapple weight 2.231 kg, what is the weight of another pineapple? -Evaluate

2. Teacher asks all the pupils to read the questions. 3. Then, teacher points a pupil to tell the class about what he understands from the problem. 4. Teacher points another pupil how to solve the problem and what is the operation involved. 5. Later, teacher points a pupil to write down the mathematics sentence for the problem. 3.748 2.231 =

Step 2 ( 15 min)

Using Dienes blocks to represent the decimal numbers

1. Teacher introduces Dienes blocks to the pupils and guides them to represent 4.728 by using Dienes blocks. Teaching aid: -Dienes blocks

0.7

0.04

0.008

2. Teacher guides the pupils to subtract 2.231 from 4.748 by using the Dienes blocks

Thinking skills: -Compare -Evaluate

4 -2 = 2

0.7 0.2 = 0.5

0.04 0.03 = 0.01

0.008 0.001 = 0.007

Step 3 (10 min)

Solving problem using algorithm

1. Teacher introduces the algorithm for subtracting decimal numbers after the pupils understand the concept. Thinking skils: -Compare -Evaluate

4. 748 2. 231

Moral values: -Confidence -Precise

2. Teacher reminds the pupils to arrange the numbers according to their place value. 3. Then, guide the pupils to subtract it correctly to get the accurate answer.

4. 748 2. 231 2. 517

4. Then ask pupils to compare the answer with the total of Dienes Blocks.

Step 4 ( 10 min)

Doing alternative activity( quiz)

1. Teacher divides the pupils into 3 groups. 2. Teacher conducts question and answer session as a reflection to what has been learned. 3. The group that get most correct answer will be declared as the winner.

Closure ( 7 min)

Reinforcement and summarization

1. Teacher ask pupils what they had learnt 2. Teacher also shows the operation again to reinforce the concept to subtract decimal numbers up to three decimal places. 3. Teacher summarises the lesson and gives out the exercises in the workbook (Page 24: no 1,3,5,7 and 9).
