BEx Ad Hoc Report - Part I Preface This page is to give a overview of basic terms and concepts of BW, and

tell you how to create a basic Ad Hoc Query in BEx Query Designer Terms and Concepts # Key Figures # Dimensions # Characteristics # Free Characteristics # Attributes # Filters Preparation Required is InfoProvider, such as InfoCube, ODS, InfoSet and Characteristic Data Target. Creating a basic Ad Hoc Query At the moment I'm using the SAP BW 3.5. OK, let's start. Please follow me, step by step: 1. Open Query Designer.

2. Select your system.

3. Type your Client, User, Password and Language, Click OK to continue.

4. Please click New Query button to create a query in BEx Query Designer.

5. Select a InfoProvider and click OK to continue.

6. Your are working at BEx Query Designer now.

7. Drag/Drop your object for Filters, Free Characteristics, Rows and Columns.

8. Chek your Query and Save it.

9. Type Technical Name and Description for your Query.

10. Query is saved.

11. Click Display Query on the Web button.

12. Aha, Viey nice.

13. Like as BEx Analyzer, you can set filter value, drilldown, sort, difine exception and condition, etc.

Click Exception and Conditions button if you want to set exception.

14. Click Create button to define a new exception.

15. Define Exception and click Transfer to continue.

16. Exception is created. The cells of Quantity Column displayed difference colour.

17. You can close the section of Exception and Condition.

19. You can do "drilldown" as well as other operations like as BEx Analyzer.

20. Now, return the Query Designer and define a physical exception

23. The Monitor Icon displayed at Status Bar.

24. Display Query on the Web after Checking and Saving.

25. Query Execution..

26. You can Active/Deactive Exceptions.

27. The screen refereshed after deactiving exception.

28. Comparing Web and BEx Analyzer.

29. You can set the calculation type of results both BEx Analyzer and Web.

30. The Price of Overall Result row is calculated by average method now.

31. Please extend the Enhanced Menu.

32. Change the calculation type.

33. The result changed right now.
