1. Idea and knowledge about natural disaster: The women participant being day laborer expressed their specific idea on natural disaster that shows their lacking on information. They said, a. Natural disaster is Storm, Cyclone, and Flood. b. They could not differentiate among various natural disasters. c. They have lacking in various types of disasters such as difference between storm and cyclone. 2. Types of disasters of the locality: The participants exemplified some natural disasters as: a. Storm. b. Flood. c. Rain. d. Crush of Embankment.

3. Sources of information about disasters: The women have different type of source of information that they use to be aware about the natural disaster. Most of them are: a. News from husband or other male members. b. Changes of environment. c. Gossiping with other female neighbors. d. They have rare access to TV. Or Radio.

e. The participants do not have any access to newspapers. f. They never listen weather forecast in a regular basis.

4. Knowledge on early response to disaster: The women participants have an overall idea on early response which is achieved from their past experience. These are: a. They try to secure their daily necessary equipments from disasters such as, they fuel (wood or cow dung), utensil and their small number of pets e.g. chicken or duck. b. They follow their husbands or other male members instructions to secure their belongings from disaster. c. Most of the time they do not get enough time to response early to the disaster due to lack of early warning system. d. Most of the time the women do not get information of the disaster and they suffer most.

5. Problems faced in the time of disaster: The women as dont have much information and idea on disaster response and preparedness so they suffer the followings: a. They are late to go to the shelter. b. They become a victim of sexual harassment. c. They loss their belongings. d. Lack of proper toilet is their major problem at the time of disaster. e. In heavy rain for a long time, they do not get enough room for their daily personal activities like menstrual activities or toilet. f. Women are worse victim to collect water.

g. Women are responsible to cook daily food, but in flood or heavy shower they dont get any dry place for cooking. h. As they can not go out for work, they sometime starve with their other family members.

6. Post Disaster problems: After the disasters with other members of a family the women are also become a victim of disaster. The main problems they faced are: a. They do not get enough fuel to cook daily food. b. They sometimes do not get food at all to cook. c. They cant fight with male to get relief from an unplanned relief distribution. d. Their family quarrel becomes a regular event as their poverty increase a few times more than the normal poverty line. e. The lactating women could not feed their children as the mother herself does not get necessary food to produce milk for her child. f. They can not continue their daily work as they need to take care of their children.

7. Relief and other support: The women sometimes need to bring the relief if the male members are not in home or with a hope to get some more relief for their family. They said, a. Most of the time they do not get any relief due to the male family members. b. In case of women headed family, the relief is like a dream as they often are ignored. c. Sometimes some NGOs categorized the women headed family with care and only then the women get proper relief. d. Most of the time the male family member or head of the family use the money support given by govt. or any other organization and the female member cannot use any part of the money for them. e. The female family members have a lot of responsibility for their family members but they do not have any support or money to continue their role.

8. Disaster preparedness: The women of the locality perform some specific performance as disaster preparedness. Such as: a. They make moveable stoves for the time of disaster.

b. They store specific fuel like cake of cow dung for after disaster period. c. They store dry food under earth to use them after disaster. d. They plant small trees and grass outside of the base of their house and toilet to reduce earth erosion due to heavy shower.

9. Womens role and vulnerabilities in post disaster management: As the participants are all women so they already discussed their role and vulnerabilities before. Furthermore they also identified their role and vulnerabilities as: a. They manage the household when their male members are absent in home. b. They participate in cash for work and in cash for training program to earn more money for their family after disaster. c. They learn training from NGOs and teach the knowledge to their other family members. d. Women need to work hard than their male counter in post disaster management period. e. Women become vulnerable to manage the disaster risk due to physical incapability and social constrains. 10. Opinion and expectation for disaster management: The women participants had some expectation for disaster management such as: a. The relief should be given based on the need and family members of the locality. b. The womens security should ensure in cyclone shelter. c. Pure drinking water should be given with relief. d. Cash support should be given based on family members and ensuring the women to get their part.

e. Alternative livelihood should provide to the women at and after disaster.
