A training conference for all clinicians, Asian and Non-Asian:

This one day training conference offers mental health professionals and students/

Spirituality and Mental Health: Compatibility and Conflicts


trainees an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in integrating spirituality
in the treatment of mental health disorders for Asian Americans Clients. As a
result of this training, participants will understand the importance of an Asian
cultural perspective. Also through workshop presentations, they will learn
culturally appropriate strategies in working with Asian American Clients with
spiritual/religious beliefs. No pre-requisite is required. Each participant
requesting CEU credits is required to fill out a program evaluation form.

The educational objectives are to be able to:

1. Develop a working knowledge about spirituality and mental health;


2. Learn to assess and intervene with Asian American clients and their family
members in a holistic approach which includes spiritual, emotional, and
cultural dimensions;
3. Address issues pertaining to Asian Americans and their spiritual/religious
beliefs which may differ from that of the clinician, and discuss ways to
collaborate with faith-based organizations in the community.
