ANNUAL ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT Fiscal Year 2010

I. Introduction The Nueva Vizcaya State University, a four-functioned learning institution: Instruction, Research, Extension and Production, stands more firm and more committed in the pursuit of its vision and mission despite financial constraints. It had made a good lift this school year as proven by its meaningful accomplishments in terms of academics as well as non-academics. Its international linkages made the university well known not only in the Philippines but entire the world even. While it is true that the university is just too young to be rated for its accomplishments, the faculty and staff of the two universities being merged together to constitute NVSU were not halted to continue their sparkling energy in the conduct of their duties and functions to maintain if not pole vault the previous status of the merged universities. Believing in the theme of the university: Moving ahead towards a premier university that nourishes a culture of excellence and peace, the College of Engineering Bambang Campus had tried its best to contribute to the quest for social transformation and continuous pursuit of quality and excellence; relevance and responsiveness; effectiveness and efficiency; access and equality by joining the administration in its effort in the attainment of its mission and will continue to strive in planting the seed of quality knowledge, positive values, commitment, loyalty to the institution so that for the attainment of the vision of the university.

Seminars The BSEE Students attended the 6th Regional Conference held at USLT,Tuguegarao on September 25,2010. April Pios, a BSEE 4 student was elected as Auditor.

The BSECE/IECEP sponsored a trouble Shooting Seminar on Computer and Appliance Technicalities and Seminar on Cellular Systems and Transmission, which was held at NVSU Training Center last September 2425, 2010 participated in by students of NVSU & SMU BSECE students. Three BSECE students attended the seminar on 3G Technology at USLT, Tuguegarao on October 2, 2010. Eight College of Engineering Student Council Officers attended the one-day Leadership Seminar held at CTE Audio Video Room on July 30, 2010. Thirteen COESC Officers & members joined the Regional Peace Day Celebration at NVSU, Bayombong last September 23, 2010. Five CESC Officers/members attended the Seminar on Sexuality last September 24, 2010 held at CTE Audio-Video Room. The Students of Seminar/Fieldtrips sponsored and participated in the Seminar-Workshop on Advanced AUTOCADD held on November 29, 2010 at NVSU E-Lab, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. C. Contest Attended C.1. Academics The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Quizzers was adjudged Champion in the PSME National Academic Competition held at Technological Institute of the Philippines, Manila on November 26, 2010. The Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering Quizzers garnered the 2nd Runner-up during the IECEP Regional Quiz Show held at La Sallete of Santiago on November 26, 2010. 3

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering garnered the 3rd Runnerup during the conduct of the Jr-IIEE 10th Regional Math Wizard held on September 25,2010 at USLT ,Tuguegarao and 2nd Runner-up in the 24th EE Quiz show. Two Engineering Students,Orvel Quezon and Marc Donald Pablo garnered the 3rd Runner-up in Physics during the conduct of the Philippine Science Consortium at Benguet State University on December 2-3, 2010. Some Engineering Students bagged the following awards during the Regional SCUAA Christian Ablao Orvel Quezon Lawn Tennis Champion Dominador Ellasos Chess M Champion F. COESC Activities Conducted F.1. Improvement of the engineering Ground/Bldg. The COESC conducted the Brigada Eskwela last June 15, 2010 to prepare the rooms and the environment of the Engineering building conducive for the opening of the school year. Last July 15, 2010, Loyalty day was conducted by the COESC students to transform once again the Engineering ground and to make the place conducive for learning and safe from mosquitos and other sickness-producing insects.

F.2. Assembly meeting was conducted last July 7,2010 to consult students regarding 5 the proposed fieldtrip of the College of Engineering students and faculty and to discuss matters regarding the sports fest.

Educational Fieldtrips to strengthen the instructions being given to students inside the four walls of the class room. F.4. On August 28, 2010, Engineering Sports Fest was conducted to choose the best athletes that would make our college once again, The Few, the Proud, the Champion. F.5. The COESC treated the faculty members with sumptuous lunch and offered services to the faculty as a symbol of gratitude to their teachers during the celebration of the Worlds Teachers Day. F.6. Last December 7, 2010, we celebrate the Engineering day at the Hillside resort, Bambang, Nueva VIzcaya with the theme: Pagpupugay para sa Isang Taong Biyaya mula kay Bathala. This is an annual celebration activity of the college to give honor to our board passers, to offer mass as a sign of gratitude to our Almighty Lord for all the blessings that our college have received and to unwind and be happy for the continuous cooperation of everyone. F.7.The COESC, in its desire to finance some projects of the college such as the rehabilitation of the working area at the kiln to make it a laboratory shop for Mechanical Engineering Department. they initiated the Battle of the Band in cooperation with the USSC and its really a success. F.8.The IECEP again initiated the conduct of the 6th Engineering Challenge, a Science/Math Quiz Bee which is open to all Engineering students of the different Universities in Nueva Vizcaya on February 26, 2011 at the Engineering Social Hall. G. Extension Activities The extension activity of the College of Engineering is managed by highly committed, competent, and service-oriented and corps of well disciplined students assisted by dedicated and service free faculty members in the attainment of High Quality and widely sustained networking and extension services relevant to the University and stake holders needs with significant impact to the community. The College of Engineering is continuously conducting extension activities to the different towns and barangays of Nueva Vizcaya to help people improve their economic situation and to improve their way of leaving. During the FY 2010, the following extension activities were undertaken: 1. The BSEE Department installed a 500 watts Micro-Hydro Power Plant at Ocao,Aritao,Nueva Vizcaya and it was inaugurated last February 25,2010 . This power plant now supplies the electric power needs of the Barangay Hall and Day Care Center. This project is already on its 2nd year of operation and it is being maintained and sustained by the Electrical Engineering Department.

2. On November 2, 2010, the same department (EE) conducted the Building Wiring repair and maintenance and installation of Bambang Central School to secure the safety of the classrooms & offices of the school as requested by the principal. 3. The BSECE students & faculty as requested by BNHS, conducted the Seminarworkshop on Basic Computer Application and familiarized Microsoft Excel Computation of grades to the faculty of Bambang National High School, during their Semestral Break In-Service Training on October 28, 2010. 4. The same group is scheduled to extend their services/expertise in production and installation of TV antenna to less privileged constituents of Almaguer North so that they could view several channels in their televisions. 5. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Department also extended their expertise to the residents of Beti, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya last October 2010 in the installation of pipes on their domestic water system which is donated by the Rotary Club of Vizcaya South. 6. The Computer Engineering Department was also tapped by BNHS to lecture on Power Point Presentations during the conduct of their Semestral Break in-Service Training on October 29, 2010. 7. Some members of the Jr-PSME conducted an extension at Barat, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya to repair sheds.

H. Projects The administration of the college was able to motivate the COESC officers and members to finance some projects /needs of the college. These are: 1. Improvement of the Engineering Ground/ Park The COESC financed the purchase of cement, sand and CHB to be used in constructing the stage (floor slab) and finishing the fence/bench along the basketball court and the construction of benches. The COESC also financed the roofing of the drinking fountains at the Engineering ground. The COESC also financed the purchase of bulbs to replace busted bulbs in the classrooms. The COESC also purchased cleaning materials for the CRs and paints for painting the window grills. 2. Rehabilitation of the Kiln area to transform it as laboratory room.

The PSME and COESC financed the purchase of materials such as cements, nails, etc. and the labor for the finishing of the walls of the laboratory. 3. Purchase of Sala Set for the COE Student center. 4. Purchase of books for the different programs. 5. Granted financial assistance to students who request for loans. - 9 students during the first semester - 9 students during the second semester 6. Granted Mutual aid to students whose immediate members of the family died. Others To help irregular/graduating students increase the number of units to be enrolled, the administration requested/endorsed the offering of some subjects provided they will meet the requirements prescribed in the University Manual. The subjects are: 1. Thermodynamics 1 2. Engineering Physics II 3. Math 2 4. Electric Circuit 1
