Manager Software Quality Assurance Responsible for the establishment and continuous improvement of a standardized software development and deployment process for a high frequency, highly distributed, real-time trading system written in C++. Accountable for software quality assurance practices, testing and production certification of all trading applications. Also responsible for the implementation, monitoring and improvement of the Project Portfolio Management system and processes, as well as, hands-on program management, project development and execution. Developed, audited and reviewed test plans, test cases and user acceptance test criteria as part of the software development project process Responsible for schedule estimates, resource planning, ensuring test execution, defect reporting and resolution. Worked with developers to design and build a custom automated test framework for our proprietary database and data distribution platform, allowing rapid test cycles and reducing defects in production. Built a repository of test scenarios for our trading applications to be used by developers and traders for testing applications before deployment. Created a problem tracking method, based on the ITIL IT Service Management best practices, to capture and classify production errors; the compiled error data was used to troubleshoot system errors, update test assets, as well as, set development project priorities. Documented the software development life-cycle processes as a baseline for quality assurance and process improvement efforts. Process mapping effort identified several key areas for immediate improvement. Development process maps later used for a firm-wide strategic business alignment effort. Partnered with Systems Engineering, Development and Operations groups to develop and transition from a waterfall style development methodology to a highly iterative and agile development methodology; drawing on examples from eXtreme Programming, SCRUM and other iterative development practices. Developed a hybrid set of analysis and design templates needed for more complex infrastructure projects, such as exchange interfaces and custom libraries. Successfully piloted a development wiki to publish, share and annotate the design artifacts. Directed the implementation of software configuration management best practices; transitioned from individual developer source control practices, to a development-standard mainline/branch development model with automated daily builds utilizing Subversion source control. Successfully lead the IT organization transition from simply tracking trader software requests to implementing a formalized project portfolio management and program management system. Facilitated the project portfolio management tool selection process in partnership with the Managing Partners, Development, and System Engineering; Oracle Primavera Enterprise Project Portfolio Management was the chosen package. Managed the Oracle EPPM implementation and rollout project. Partnered with business leadership to develop a set of project selection criteria; implemented the selection customizations in the Primavera system, and developed weekly reporting for selection committees. Directed the program management and portfolio management processes; Tracked basic weekly project status on a firm-wide basis to provide project visibility to all managers in a common and consistent manner. AVP Software QA - Treasury Systems Development Responsible for budgeting, staffing and directing the quality assurance, testing and configuration management functions for two capital markets application development groups; and the Quality Assurance Manager for the North American retail call center development team. Directed planning and implementation of a structured test methodology, using Mercury test tools XRunner, WinRunner, TestDirector, and LoadRunner - as the AVP for the capital markets development group and as the QA Manager for the North American Call Center software development team. Led the design and deployment of the software configuration management process, utilizing ClearCase. Developed Integration, System and Y2K test plans for a distributed multi-tier client server system integrating custom code with package solutions for a Call Center application. Deployed the development teams software configuration management process, as well as the incident reporting process using the PVCS tool suite.
