INITIAL LEARNER CONTACT AND REGISTRATION


Registration for the course will be sent via email to all faculty that are teaching face to face courses as well as those currently web-enhancing their courses in Blackboard. Initial Learner Contact/Registration How will WBI be advertised? When does WBI start/stop? Response Via email to all college faculty, flyers placed around campus, announcement posted in the college portal, and in faculty offices Starts the fourth week of the semester and ends the ninth week of the semester. This enables faculty to get through the first few weeks of the semester with their students in order to focus in on the course. The Educational Technology Specialists Portal announcement and email Instructions are sent in the email. A self enrollment process will be utilized.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR COMMUNICATION AND DISTRIBUTION


Technical Requirements How does the instructor access it? What software or plugins are needed to use the WBI? How do learners send or share documents or feedback on assignments? How will learners access online skills training? How will the team distribute support materials? How will learners report technical problems? Response The facilitators of the course provide all technical requirements within the course and are acting as instructors. The following website lists all software for use with Blackboard 9.1. http://www.westhillscollege.com/whconline/about/is_online_right_for_yo u.asp Through the discussion board and journal. The sandbox course is created and made available to the instructor at the beginning of the course. Week 1 assignments walk instructors through how to access this course. Part of Week 1 assignments is to go through an Orientation to Blackboard. Part of Week 1 assignments. Through a blog tool utilized within the course. Week 1 requires all students to post a statement into this blog.

TOOLS FOR COMMUNICATION AND DISTRIBUTION


Participants How will learners and instructors contact each other? Communication Tools A first day synchronous workshop will be conducted with a web conferencing tool and face to face capabilities. A separate discussion board and journal tool are set up for each week for student to student contact. A navigation item with instructor contact information is provided. Syllabus provided on week 1 has assignment due dates and rubrics for the assignments. Also a course project rubric will be provided to students during Week 1 and when relevant within the learning tasks. Through discussion boards, journals, and the course sandbox.
