BISHOPS COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CHURCH IN CANADA

The Bishops Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be September 24-25. This annual Collection is aimed primarily at helping each diocese pay its financial contribution to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). The amount of this contribution is determined according to the number of Catholics in each diocese. Many dioceses are facing financial challenges. This annual collection is intended to lessen their financial burden at least to some degree. The Canadian Episcopal Conference has an important role in the Churchs presence and action, nationally and internationally. Because of the commitments that have been made by the Bishops of Canada, the CCCB is involved in projects in social justice, ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, doctrine, life and family issues, relations with Aboriginal Peoples, liturgy, catechesis and relations with Catholic associations and movements.
