No cell phones, even on vibrate, are allowed in class. Neither are calculators of any type or laptops. Use of any of these electronic items during a graded event will be considered as a form of academic dishonesty. Cheating on a quiz results in a reduced score, including the possibility of a grade of zero. The same is true on an exam. University guidelines mandate that the incidence of cheating is to be reported to the department, which may initiate disciplinary action. Reference www.ucf.edu/goldenrule. Campus "big blue books" are required for exams including the final. Buy five, unused books and hand them to the instructor by Wednesday 7 September. They will be distributed back on exam days. Quizzes can not be made up. If an exam or the final is missed, a make-up may be authorized only after written documentation of one of the following reasons (death in the family, health-related issues, official UCF functions). Traveling is not an acceptable excuse. The documentation is due a week after the absence and the make-up is also due that same week. The sooner the notification of such an absence, the better. Notification before such an absence would be definitely appreciated.

Homework is neither collected nor graded. However, the first part of Monday's class will be devoted to questions on suggested problems. This is your education and thus it is your ultimate responsibility to make the most of it.

Office Hours: MWF 10:45 -> 11:45 in my office, MW 3:30 -> 4:30 in my office, or by appointment. It would be greatly appreciated if I knew beforehand when you were coming for help.
