MPSTME students' display consistent outstanding performances in International and Inter university competitions owing to 'practice oriented' curriculum and scholarly grooming. A team of 5 students of MPSTME won the International Award for the performance of their Human Powered vehicle at 18th Annual NASA's Great Moon Buggy Race in Huntsville, Alabama, USA held during 1st 2nd April, 2011. One group of students is working in collaboration with students from University of Houston for research assignments.

Dean
Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) was established in 2006. The following are the important features of the programmes started in this school: Trimester Based System Three trimesters in a year; each of 10 weeks study, followed by exam. Need based curricula developed to meet industry requirement. Science & technology subjects have theory and practical classes. Modern infrastructure facilities to impart education & training and provide a conducive environment for learning & development. Qualified full time faculty and expert visiting faculty to implement the curricula.

After getting the Deemed University Status in 2003, NMIMS introduced the first 5 year integrated, need based, innovative programme - MBA (Tech.) w. e. f. July 2004.

SVKM The Parentage

hri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal is a Public Charitable Trust registered under (i) the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1960 No. 773 of 1934-35 and (ii) the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 (Bombay XXIX of 1950) No. F 30 (BOM) 1953. The Mandal was formed in 1934 and commenced its activities by taking over the Rashtriya Shala, a school established in 1921 in the wake of the national movement. The school was later renamed "Shrimati Gokalibai Punamchand Pitamber High School". The school has now grown into a first class institute, imparting secondary education to about 2300 pupils. To mark the 25th year of its valuable service in the field of Primary and Secondary Education, the Mandal decided to extend its activities to the sphere of University Education. The long felt need for a Science and Arts college in the growing western suburbs of Mumbai was fulfilled by the Mandal by establishing "Mithibai College of Arts and Chauhan Institute of Science" in 1961. The Trustees of Matushri Mithibai Balashram and sons of late Shri Mohanlal Dayal Chauhan made this possible because of handsome donations. The spirit of transcending horizons has its genesis in the values that the Mandal has conscientiously practiced since the days of India's struggle for freedom. The values of patriotic fervor, selfless service and the spirit of indigenous enterprise serve as the guiding principles to all the institutions set up by the Mandal. During the last four decades or so the Mandal has established the following institutions including Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).

SVKMs NMIMS
MIMS completed 30 years of its existence in the year 2011-12. The institution, established in the year 1981 as Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, began its journey offering Master's Degree Programme in Management Studies a course under University of Mumbai, with an intake of only 40 students and 4 full time faculty members. NMIMS has undergone a tremendous transformation since it commenced its journey in 1981. Today it stands as a large, imposing Institution (Deemed-to-be University) with eight specialized schools and off campus centers, with an intake of about 4000+ students and 300+ full time faculty members. From Bhaidas Auditorium, NMIMS has also moved to a large complex where it stands today as a landmark in Vile Parle - an affluent suburb of Mumbai. The journey traversed by NMIMS from 1981 to 2010 has been a long and fruitful one, with many a milestones along the way.

From an Institute to a University

1. In December 2006, the UGC granted the Deemed-to-be University status under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, vide notification No. F-9-37/2001-U-3 dated 13th January 2003 of the Government of India. NMIMS since then has taken major initiatives in terms of the programmes, curriculum development, international linkages, placements and students' development. Today the University is a truly globalized center of learning, providing its students a balanced exposure to practical and academic aspects of the industry.

MPSTME
he Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) is an important addition to NMIMS's vision of 'Transcending Horizons'. The MPSTME leverages the capabilities inherent in the University, in both Engineering and Management domains to make this unique contribution possible. The MPSTME came into existence in 2006-07 with the entry of the third batch of MBA (Tech.) innovative programme started in 2004. The MPSTME campus in Mumbai stands tall as a shining metaphor of India's progress in the field of education. The MPSTME is equipped with a world-class library, which has an impressive collection of books and journals. It is fast transforming itself into a digital library with e-models, e-catalogues and an online database - Online Public Access Catalog on the intranet, which helps students check the library's collection of titles from across the world. What is more, there are various laboratories: Those of Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Telecommunications and Information Technology, which are equipped with technologically advanced instruments and managed by a cooperative staff. There are recreation lounges and sports facilities which complete the all-round experience at MPSTME. The modern state-of-the-art facilities are developed to provide a conducive atmosphere for teaching, learning & all round development of the students.

The Vision of NMIMS is to be a world-class center of excellence in management learning and innovation, driven by social sensitivity and state-of-the-art technology. To better understand the industry requirements, we had conducted an in-depth study and had interactions with a cross section of industry leaders. These indicated that managers in the industries would be more effective with a strong foundation in the concerned engineering discipline. By integrating engineering and management in one single capsule to address a major industry requirement, MBA (Tech.) programme was launched by NMIMS in the year 2004, which was the first of its kind in the country.

The curriculum covers engineering courses in selected disciplines and the management courses relevant to that technology area. It is an integration of technology and management with the higher proportions of technological inputs in the initial stages and moving towards Technology Management in the later stages of the course. With the phenomenal growth of IT and Telecom Sectors all over the world, there are excellent opportunities in IT, Electronics, Computer and Telecom Industries, especially for those who undergo relevant education and training through well designed engineering programmes. NMIMS, a professionally managed, reputed university having the support of SVKM and its well known D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering has launched relevant need based programmes in engineering at MPSTME for B. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph. D. levels. Practices
NMIMS has always strived to be world-class in every sphere of education. Some of the Best Practices are as follows: Trimester System which ensures accelerated mode of academic delivery.Continuous revision and updation of the course through a strong Board of Studies. With the aim of International adoptability, foreign language is made compulsory. MPSTME is now an IBM centre of Excellence. Value added Training Module of Oracle, EMC2 and CISCO are offered as a part of the course subjects. Harvard case studies are extensively used to enhance the understanding of the students. Students have access to various e-library services and databases like the EBSCO, IEEE databases, Proquest, Science Direct for research purposes. Regular talks and seminars are arranged with Industry experts so that the students can constantly relate and apply their learning in class to the industry environment. The only student chapter of PMI in India is at MPSTME. Thereby imparting Project Management inputs to our students. Opportunity to do CAPM course.

MPSTME Mumbai

Campus

N addition to facilities at the main campus of NMIMS, Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering is having a separate building with approx 1,10,000 sq. ft. area, which is on Plot A4 of SVKM on Bhakti Vedant Swami Marg, JVPD Scheme, Vile Parle (W) at a walking distance from the main campus of NMIMS. Administrative Block and faculty areas and other state-of-the-art facilities are present in this building. Further space of 60,000 sq. ft. is being planned for future requirements.

Library
NMIMS with its state-of-the-art library has progressed a good deal by acquiring different kinds of documents especially e-forms, cataloguing & processing them appropriately, storing and giving access to its patrons not only in library premises, but also on the desktops from any part of the world. The library database (OPAC), which is currently on intranet, gives detailed information about library resources including books (more than 41,000), journals (315), ejournals (more than 5000), databases (14) and technical reports with different search tools for its users. Users can have access to more than 5000 full text journals covering titles published by Elsevier (Science Direct), Springer, John Wiley, etc. and from the aggregators like Ebsco and Proquest. Links to various databases like CMIE, Capital Markets, ISI Emerging Markets are also made available through OPAC. The Learning Resource provides a number of innovative information services including Journal Content Service, News Clipping Service and Monthly Documents Additions Lists. The library has transformed from a traditional library with manual transactions to an electronic library, and is now heading towards transforming into a digital library. A separate state-of-the-art library at MPSTME, Mumbai & Shirpur campus have been developed with a number of books, journals & e-journals.

Computer / IT Labs
Fifteen Computer/ IT labs with 300 work-stations connected to internet supported by a 3 mbps leased line are available for use of the Students. It is also equipped with a wide range of licensed system software and applications software. The entire campus is connected with Wi-Fi network.

Science Labs
Chemistry and Physics labs with well equipped instruments are available for the students. Chemical, Mechanical & Civil Engineering Labs The School have well equipped labs for Chemical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering.

Electronics & Telecommunication Lab

Various labs namely, Electronics & Logic Circuits, Microprocessor Lab, Electronic Circuits and Micro-Controller, Digital Design Lab, Communication Lab & Advanced Communication Lab have been set up for use of students of all streams.

The Audio Interactive Language Lab

NMIMS has pioneered the initiative of scientifically assisting students in preparing for group discussions or job interviews by developing an Audio Interactive Language Lab on the campus.

Lab Support Staff

Lab Support Staff are available to assist students in planning and performing practicals / projects.

Classrooms / Halls
All classrooms in the campus are air conditioned and have ceiling mounted LCDs with facility of Mikes, Speakers and Amplifiers. MPSTME has well equipped air conditioned Seminar Halls, Drawing Hall and Conference Hall for various programmes.

Accommodation for Students

Hostel for Girls NMIMS has a well furnished hostel for girls by the name of MKM Sanghavi Girls' Hostel, which is located in close proximity to the university. Along with this, few limited residential flats are also available for providing accommodation to girl students. Hostel for Boys Limited hostel accommodation is available for boys at G. R. Jani Boys' Hostel. Besides this, a few residential flats are also hired for providing accommodation to boys. Note: The hostel accommodation is very limited and the university will assist the students in finding a suitable accommodation.

Campus

Shirpur is a tribal area of North Maharashtra adjoining Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The Stateof-art infrastructure facilities are provided to the students with quality education at reasonable fees. Shirpur is a perfect example of a model township which has been developed by local organizations under the leadership of Hon'ble Shri. Amrishbhai Patel, MLA, Maharashtra, President SVKM and Chancellor, SVKM's NMIMS. Shirpur is one of the best towns in Maharashtra located in Dhulia District, which has the border touching to Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. It is well connected by Road and Rail to Mumbai in Maharashtra, to Indore in Madhya Pradesh and to Vadodara in Gujarat. There are plenty of trees in and around the town and pollution free environment. The Shirpur Municipal Corporation was given the best Municipal Corporation Award by the State Government. The cleanliness of th town is maintained throughout the year. The drinking water is supplied after the purification in the modern plant. The educational facilities, medical facilities, open areas, playground and other amenities are superior to those available in many big cities in the country. Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal started its Military School in the year 2000 and from the year 2007-08 it has started the Off Campus Centre of its NMIMS University on a land area of about 50 acres. Some of the top class amenities of this town include excellent medical facilities, modern primary and secondary schools, pharmacy and engineering colleges, 24 hour UV purified water, modern well lit roads and a town hall which is a rarity in many cities in the country. It also boasts of the world's largest gold refinery and a spinning mill. It recently won a best township award from the Government of Maharashtra.

The Campus Network is based on a fiber optic back bone and GigaBit Ethernet technologies. The Campus Network covers the class rooms, library, laboratory and hostel. The intranet has all computer nodes and Laptops which are interconnected by a fiber optic network. Every classroom is equipped with Laptop/PC and LCD projectors integrated with campus wide Network.

In addition to the wired network, the entire campus has a parallel wireless network. You will be able to access the entire networked resources from virtually anywhere in the campus. Branded Laptops with Mobile Technology has been provided for the same. Black Board Learning and Content Management system Students can access the Internet round the clock and the learning resources available on the Campus Network - Black Board to manage the vast knowledge and create an online learning environment. Thus, it makes possible for the students to access information resources anywhere and anytime in the NMIMS, Shirpur Campus.

Internet@ 10 mbps (1:1)

All members on the intranet have access to Internet 24 hours a day, through 10 mbps Internet Line. The Internet bandwidth will be enhanced every year.

Software Library
The software environment includes Windows Clients with Windows 2003 Server, SQL Server DBMS, MS Office (Campus Wide License), Firewall and Spy wares, Oracle Package, Visual and Object Oriented Languages like Visual Basic & Visual C++ with .NET and Turbo C++, Java, Red Hat Linux Original Pack, Squid Proxy Server etc.

Workshop Complex
The Workshop Complex has the all kind of material and components required to offer training and hands on in different basic Shop practices like Electronics basics and foundations for the IT Professionals

All the Departments presently have the twin objectives of delivering useful courses and of carrying out meaningful research. The NMIMS has carried out research works in multidirectional fields within its scope under the sponsorship of several organizations and has helped in solving quite a large number of problems for practicing engineers.

Library
Fully computerized and well stocked Library, with online access to Books & E- Journals where the thirst for knowledge is quenched. Library includes not only paper versions, but also electronic versions, CD-ROMs, multimedia and online products Sufficient number of Library books / Titles/Journals are available. (Programme - wise). Subscription for Online National / International Journals and Digital Library E-Library Facility is Available.

Laboratory
For each Laboratory all required Modern Quality Equipments and Facilities are available. The Laboratories has Pentium-IV Computers with TFT Monitors and with Wireless NICs in LAN, Printers, Scanners, DVD burners, Digital Cameras. These Laboratories provides various network based services such as Internet, Groupware, Database, Proxy, Email, Printing, and Laptops & LCD Projectors. Computer Centre & Services There are DELL Power-Edge servers and the branded Workstations along with the Laptops of DELL and the stand alone Pentium-IV PCs. There is a network - Intranet/Internet (designed by CISCO) consisting of the DELL Power-Edge servers, with switches and hubs to which P-IV PCs are connected as nodes. These would be used for providing computer training and hands-on practice to the students and also for running short term courses for the same. Facilities for R&D activities are available for faculty members and research scholars. These machines have connectivity with internet and have access to e-mail. All major Licensee Software along with several special purpose software like Black Board have been acquired.

Lecture-Halls
The Lecture Halls are airy, spacious and well ventilated, in conformity with international standards. Extensive use of audio-visual media and LCD Projectors enables the students to grasp advance technology quite easily.

Conference-Room
A conference room of corporate standard is one of the highlights of Shirpur Campus. Ultra modern facilities to conduct board meetings, campus recruitment are available here.

Seminar-Hall
A seminar hall built to international standards is exclusively for intellectual activities like paper presentations, seminars, workshops, debates and inter-collegiate competitions. Guest lectures for the students and faculty improvement programs etc can be conduct here regularly

Hostel Facility
Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. The Shirpur Campus Hostel has been constructed to provide a safe and congenial atmosphere to the students. Airy rooms luxuriously furnished with attached bathroom, access to Computer lab, Cyber center, Canteen, Library, Audio Visual Facility, Water coolers with purified drinking water, TV Room, indoor games room and Gymnasium and a senior faculty member as Warden-Friend-Guide-Philosopher are the exclusive features of the hostel. Ragging is strictly prohibited and strict discipline is maintained. 24 hours medical facility is available. The Campus is set amidst sylvan surroundings, enveloped by fresh air and greenery on the Mumbai-Agra Highway, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The imposing building and the lush green lawn are wonderful salubrious ingredients for meaningful learning. Every effort has been made at this Campus that the main building conforms to high standards of quality in construction. Every minute detail has been thought about, planned and executed in this Center for Learning.

NMIMS is proactive in Industry-Institute Partnership addressing all aspects, which enhances networking between academia and industry. The university maintains a sustained relationship with companies to expose the students to the realms of the corporate environment. The primary focus of the school is to provide students with excellent education relevant to the present and emerging industry requirements. For this purpose the industry linkage is an important factor and this is in-built into the curriculum. Some of the steps taken in this direction are:

Students are encouraged to become members of Professional Bodies and the school is also a corporate member of a number of such bodies. Students are also encouraged to form student chapters of Social Forums like Rotract Club and Social Responsibility Forums through which they are channelized to work for the community.

The programme is in its infancy and this aspect will be looked into in the coming few years. 25 students of first batch of M. Tech. who completed the programme were awarded a degree at the convocation - 2008. 45 students have been enrolled for Ph.D. Engineering Science since 2006-07 and they are pursuing their research work.

The chapters and students' chapters of several national and international professional bodies are established at NMIMS and are organizing various activities. This includes IEEE, ISTE, IICHE, ISTD, ISME, IETE, PMI etc.

Industrial Training & Project Work

Under MBA (Tech.) Programme, the 9th trimester which falls under the 3rd year is earmarked for Industrial Training and a minor project of 3-5 months duration. The objective of this training is to familiarize the students with the overall working of the Industrial Organization in their respective area of specialization & also to undertake a project. In the 13th trimester, the students will undertake a major project of 3-5 months duration in the industry. This project will address the industry's pressing needs in any techno-managerial field. The objective of the programme shall be to enhance the students' managerial skills & promote a strong bonding with the industry. Both the training/ project work mentioned above carry full credits and the students would be evaluated based on their training performance, their project report & their performance in the subsequent presentation/ viva examination. Under B.Tech programme, students are required to undergo four to six weeks summer training at the end of third year in industry. It gives the interns a glimpse of the corporate arena and allows them to develop their skill sets. The college placecom maintains a database of students' profiles through which companies can search for prospective interns meeting their project requirements.

Colloquium - The Guest Lecture Cell Colloquium is the Student-Industry interface which endeavors to bring highly successful people to the campus and share their experiences in being what they are and how they have managed to reach the top. The cell is responsible for inviting and arranging guest lecturers of prominent industry leaders under its flagship program - CEO Series. The aim is to ignite the spark in the budding managers of tomorrow to excel in all aspects of life. This is the fourth year of our existence and we have been honored by Mr. Anantha Sayana, Head- Corporate IT for L&T Infotech, Mr. Srikanth Karra, Global HR Head of Syntel Inc., Mr. Nandkumar Saravde, Director-Compliance of NASSCOM, Mr. Yatrik Vin, Vice-President of The National Stock Exchange and Mr. Nalin Mehta, Vice President Marketing of Mahindra-Renault, amongst our guest lecturers till date. Our sister organization, from the School of Business have a CEO Series. Zistatva - Cultural Committee The culture of an individual, comprising positive personality, strength and vision to excel in life, is cultivated through events and people around them."
Apart from academic excellence, the college also provides a platform to the students to showcase their skills in cultural activities through the cultural committee which is traditionally called ZISTATVA. Zistatva has organized events like dandiya night, clay modeling, traditional day, chocolate day, etc and plans to organize other innovative events in the near future. It also involves participation of the students in various events of other colleges which include festivals like UMANG, MOODI, KSHITIJ, etc. By this, the committee infuses positive aggression and fires up the competitive spirit through cutting edged training in various cultural programmes, thus bringing out the performer hidden inside every person.

Sports Committee
The Sports Committee provides a platform to students to showcase their talents in the field of sports. In the past, the Sports committee has successfully organized various events like Cricket tournament, Football tournament, Table tennis, Carom, Chess and many more. It also helps the students to take part in inter college sports events. The Theatre - Dramatics Cell It participates in various cultural festivals and deals with the drama and film making part of it. It provides a platform for students to express and entertain themselves.

Sattva - Annual College Festival Sattva is NMIMS MPSTME Mumbai Campus's Annual National Level Mega Festival conducted and managed by Students of MPSTME. Sattva comprises of Technical, Cultural, Sports, Literary and Management Festivals. It also includes Proshows. Colleges and Universities from around India participate in this mega-event. In the past three years of Sattva being conducted, some names from the entertainment industry who have attended, performed or Judged competitions include popular band Euphoria, Shaan, Remo (of DID fame), MTV-Roadies Judge Raghu, MTV VJ Anushka Dandekar, DJ Akhtar, The Band of Boys, Electronic Artists Phi Degrees, & Anjana Sukhani. Great Opportunities are sensed by minds but are never seen by eyes! Protsahan is a MPSTME Shirpur Campus's Annual Festival conducted and managed by the students under the supervision and fidelity of the faculty members. Protsahan comprises of three major phases i.e. Galexus - A Technical Fest, Tapish- A Cultural Gathering and Chak De! - Sports Carnival. Annual magazine the PROTSAHAN-10 was published to entertain and enlighten the readers. The students present their innate talents in singing, dancing and other fine arts. These also show their ability to tune physical skills and achieve competence in sports and games.

Social Impact (SI)

Social Impact is the Official social cell of MPSTME which was formed in the year 2010. Previously MPSTME has worked under NMIMS for social causes but this is the first time that MPSTME has started its own independent social cell. There are many students in our own college who are interested in social services; Social Impact provides a platform and helps in channelizing their interest towards a better cause. We at Social Impact have already conducted a successful blood donation drive. We are working on long term projects right now which will have an impact on the society and will create a difference. Our mission is to organize consolidated campaigns for social causes and welfare at the district, city, state and eventually national level and to offer our consultancy services to NGOs to enhance their management and functioning.

Few Achievements of SI
Organized Christmas Party for under privileged children at snehasadan. Blood Donation Drive: More than 250 individuals participated out of which 170 were selected as donors on the medical grounds. The event was carried out by BSES hospital in association with the Lions Club of Shivaji Park. Volunteered for BALAKALAKAR 2010 organized for the underprivileged kids by AIESEC, Mumbai.

The Editorial Board

The Editorial Board (EdBoard), MPSTME's official Publishing House, was formed back in 2006- 07. It comprises dedicated students who work round the year, pasting together snippets of life at MPSTME, new and upcoming technology, current affairs, industry - and academiarelated content, reviews, poetry, (digital) art, trivia, quizzes, polls, guest articles etc. A faculty panel of prominent names in NMIMS streamlines our activities with its experience and expertise in various fields. The EdBoard has prestigious publications to its name: Verve The Annual Magazine Pulse The Trimesterly Newsletter Besides the Students Council committees, MPSTME also has various other committees which help in developing a student's personality and giving the student some exposure.

CSI Student Chapter

CSI Student Branch at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering, NMIMS was started as a professional body where students could meet and exchange their views and information, learn and share ideas. The activities of the CSI Student Branch at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering include industrial visits, workshops, seminars, etc. The Student Branch has over 350 members on date.

Taqneeq
CSI Student Branch at MPSTME, NMIMS has been organizing its Annual Technical Festival TAQNEEQ. The goal was to bridge the gap between academia and practical knowledge required in industries. The various events and competitions tested the participants cognitive skills, while the workshops encouraged a fun-learning environment. Eminent personalities from the industry also delivered lectures on various topics.

Findrome
FinDrome-The Finance cell of MPSTME was launched in 2008-2010 with the aim of conducting activities and events that promote a culture to understand Finance, equip students with the requisite financial expertise and help them make effective contribution to the growth of the corporate world from now. The cell saw its grand launch on 15th November 2008. The cell was inaugurated by Mr Bharat Banka, CEO and MD Aditya Birla Group and by Mr. Jitin Khera, VP HSBC India. Currently, the cell is headed by Prof. R C Agarwal (Chairperson- Technology Management MPSTME). FinDrome, a students body, organizes events and activities such as workshops, panel discussions, case study competitions, debates, market simulation games, guest lecturers from industry experts etc in financial domain round the year. Such events and activities keep students abreast with latest happenings in corporate and financial world.

ACM
ACM MPSTME is the official Student Chapter of Association for Computing Machinery at MPSTME, NMIMS University. Since its Inception the committee members have tried to develop a research and a competitive environment among students. The committee has organized various mega and small scale events like The Open Book Programming Competition and The Royal Treasure Hunt. Apart from this competition various workshops and guest lecturers have also been organized.

The NMIMS IEEE student branch was started in the year 2006 with initial student strength of over 80. The branch is affiliated to the IEEE Mumbai section. The branch consists of a dedicated group of students who aim to gain exposure to new technical advancements for greater career opportunities, through team meets and various other events, held regularly, to keep themselves abreast with the latest developments in cutting-edge technology.

Prism
PRISM is a student oriented council which aims at enhancing the soft skills of students of Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering. The prime objective of the cell is to empower students to acquire professional success and excel in their workplace. The cell aims at imparting knowledge and enhancing skills of students in order to meet corporate expectations. PRISM was set up in the academic year 2009 2010, so as to provide the students with the necessary expertise, resources and support to master the art of self assessment, decision making, goal setting and developing meaningful networking at workplace.

Project Management Institute (PMI)

Project Management is a key thrust area for the MBA (Tech.) programme being conducted by SVKMs NMIMS Universitys MPSTME. PMI (Project Management Institute) is a worldwide apex body of PM Professionals with Chapters all over the world. MPSTME stated its PMI Students branch in Oct. 2008.

4C is a student body with a motto to - Comment, Connect, Collect and Collaborate with the industry to promote MPSTME as a brand and not continue to be overshadowed by the umbrella of NMIMS. Major objectives of 4C - The Marketing Cell are to organize events to promote inclusiveness among all the students of MPSTME. 4C acquires and disseminates knowledge and information about desirable industries and shows to them the talent pool the college contains. 4C has organized a series of workshops like Understanding Sales and Branding, Sensory Branding, Designing Customer Loyalty programs Pantaloons.

Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. Model United Nations in the last 10 years has been a prominent platform for students to test their debating as well as leadership skills helping them excel with a global perspective apart from the usual scholastic one. Hence in the academic year 2010 11 this particular area of co curricular fields was embarked upon by setting up a MUN society in MPSTME. MPSTME participated in various MUNs like HR MUN, Government Law college MUN, TSEC MUN, VJTI MUN, Jai Hind MUN, Vatumal MUN, Ecole MUN to name a few, where apart from representing our college, the team also won 4 awards. Our college through the MUN society has also got an invite from the Harvard world Model United nations in Singapore hosted by Harvard University.

The Placecom has been crucial to our success in getting placed in such reputed companies. From the beginning of the academic year itself the Placecom, under the guidance of Prof.Nikhil Gala, has ensured that we'd be completely prepared for anything and everything. We had a battery of mock aptitude tests and group discussion sessions conducted till we were quite seasoned to take on any challenge that could be thrown at us. All this paid off big time when we saw some of the big names that had lined up Infosys, Accenture, HCL, Tech Mahindra.all raving for a piece of us thanks to the Placecom. The successful completion of Placement Season for the batch of 2010 B.Tech, with 100% placements, was a testimony of faith reposed by corporate world in SVKMs NMIMS. The number of recruiters who participated in this years placement stood at more than 15. This in itself is an achievement for the college, where the first batch of B.Tech was passing out. The Placement process saw top notch recruiters vying to lure talent that SVKMs NMIMS MPSTME has become synonymous with offering coveted profile in traditional as well as niche domains. To add to this we are observing a surge of new partners joining the recruitment process for the upcoming year. All this has become possible because of the continuous growth in the Institute Industry linkages. Through summer internships the B. Tech students are provided an opportunity to have an experience of the corporate world. This summer internship which a student has to go through at the end of his third year makes him industry ready. The crowning glories of the summer internship were the 145 companies, who picked up our students for training. The month of December 2009 to February 2010 was the placement season at MPSTME for B.Tech students. It was placement galore for NMIMS MPSTME as the students across all the streams received employment offers from several of the countrys best recruiters viz Infosys, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Patni, HCL Technologies, HCL Comnet, Tavant Technologies etc. Our students have always been highly selective about the work profile which help them sculpt the trail blazing career path that NMIMS has always been famous for. The course of study for the Master of Business Administration in Technology, MBA-Tech. shall extend over five years consisting of fifteen trimesters.

MBA (Tech.) Programme delivers state-of -the- art management and technology knowledge and skills to the students. These tachno-savvy managers are fully equipped to create optimum and holistic solutions in business organizations. Unique Features of The Programme

The programme involves two internships in the organizations for a total duration of about 10 months. Thus students get long enough exposure to the real working conditions and are able to contribute to the organizations literally right from day one of joining. The course curriculum is reviewed and updated on a regular basis to ensure that its relevance to the organizations is sustained.

Eligibility
The candidate must have passed in 10+2 or equivalent, (including International IB Diploma, Cambridge) Exam with Science or Science Vocational (with PCM and English as subjects) with minimum 50% marks in PCM (Minimum 150 marks out of 300). Those awaiting their 10+2 exam results this year may also apply.

Selection Process
Students are admitted to the MBA-Tech. Programme if they meet the required standards of the three-stage process described below: Stage 1: All candidates aspiring to and eligible for admission to the MBA-Tech. programme will be required to appear for written test to be conducted at various locations in India. The venue will be announced well before the test date. Stage 2: Based on the performance in the written test, candidates will be short-listed. Stage 3: Based on the performance in Stage 1 and Stage 2 and on the candidates 12th standard PCM marks, a composite merit list will be drawn as per the criteria laid down by the school. Candidates will be called for a counseling session based on the above merit list. In the counseling session, candidates will be allotted admissions to various disciplines as per their choice and availability of discipline.

Teaching, Learning And Evaluation

In most of the subjects, there will be theory and practical classes. Time table will be for approximately 32 to 36 contact hours per week for B. Tech. Programmes. In the fourth year of the course, approximately 40% of the time will be allotted for industry based project work for which guidance by the faculty will be available and the students will be required to make a presentation of the project work. Student is required to have minimum of 80% attendance in the classes for every subject and must complete all the term work prescribed for the subjects. For every subject 50 marks will be assigned for continuous assessment: 5 marks for attendance, 20 marks for class tests, 25 marks for term work containing practical work, and/ or assignments and practical/ oral exam. The term end exam will be assigned marks out of 50. For passing in a subject, student must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in combined total of continuous assessment and term end exam.

MCA (Master of Computer Application)

Programme Duration & Intake
To meet the increasing demand of trained manpower in the field of Computer Applications, NMIMS University has launched a 3 years Post Graduate MCA Programme with an intake of 60 seats at Mumbai campus under its Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering.

Eligibility
The candidate must have Bachelor's degree with 50% marks in aggregate in Arts, Science or Commerce, Management or any other discipline from a recognized institution / university. Those awaiting their final exam results may also apply.

Selection Procedure
Admission process for the current academic year will start from the month of March. Interested candidates need to apply in the prescribed application form for being considered for admission to the MCA Programme. The application forms will be made available at the school and notified centers. Admission will be based on good score in the General Aptitude paper at E or D Level Examination conducted by C-DAC in various cities followed by personal interview at the NMIMS premises in Mumbai. Course Structure
The Course Structure for MCA Programme is given on subsequent pages subject to review and revision by the Board of Studies and approval of the Academic Council of the University.

Teaching-learning and Evaluation

It is a full time programme and timetable will be for approx. 32 to 36 contact hours per week in the final year of the course. Approx. 30% of the time will be allocated to industry based project work for which guidance of the faculty will be available. Student is required to have minimum 80% attendance in the classes for every subject and must complete all the term work prescribed for the subject. The scheme of evaluation will contain theory and practical examination as well as term work and periodical, class tests, assignments etc. For passing the subject, student must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in each of the subject. The class will be awarded at the end of every year on the basis of total marks or Grade Point Average obtained by the student subject to earning prescribed minimum credits during the year. The class for final degree will be awarded on the basis of cumulative performance during all the years for MCA Courses.

Board of Studies
The Board of Studies for MCA will be the same as the Board of Studies for Engineering Sciences as shown earlier.

M.Tech. (Master in Technology) & Ph.D.

M.Tech. programmes are offered in IT / Computer Engineering / Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The courses have been tailored by leading academicians and experts from the industries. Emphasis has been given to the latest development in industry wherein expertise is required. Steps have been taken to further strengthen the present system in the country while framing the syllabus. Ph.D. programmes are offered in the areas of IT / Computer / Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunication / Chemical / Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Management.

Programme Objectives
To provide excellent education and guidance in engineering branches at postgraduate and research level. To cater the needs of engineering industries and research organizations at national and international levels. To train HR to carry out innovative research for creating intellectual property through master and doctoral programmes. To prepare engineers to take position in industry, institutions and research organizations

Duration
The course of study of M.Tech. in each specialization shall extend over two years consisting of three trimesters for the first year and then carry out research work on industry related project followed by submission of dissertation in the second year. For Ph.D. the duration is 3-5 years depending upon the performance of the candidate.

Intake
18 seats in each specialization of M. Tech. Programmes. For Ph.D. Programmes total intake is 15

Eligibility
Every candidate for the M. Tech. programme in each specialization must have passed B.E. / B. Tech. or equivalent examination with valid GATE score; sponsored candidates without GATE score will also be considered. a) Ph.D. (Engineering) - M.E. / M.Tech. in relevant branch of Engineering / Technology with 1st class at Bachelors or Masters level. b) Ph.D. (Technology Management) - M.E. / M.Tech. / MBA with B.E. / B.Tech. and 1st class at bachelor or masters level.

Selection Procedure a) For M.Tech

Candidates will be admitted to M.Tech. in the area of interest as mentioned in their application form, if they meet the required standards of the two stage processes described below: Stage 1: All candidates aspiring to and eligible for admissions to M. Tech. Programmes in each specialization shall be short-listed based on their valid GATE score, for a personal interview at NMIMS campus. Sponsored candidates shall be short listed on the basis of their B.E. / B.Tech. Degree score. Stage 2: Personal Interview : Candidates short listed in stage 1 shall be interviewed at the institute premises and the merit list will be prepared accordingly. Candidates will be allotted admissions to the discipline as per the availability/ choice as the case may be.

B) For Ph.D. Programme

Entrance test followed by personal interview / presentation. Selection will be on merit. Registration: Selected candidate will have to undergo prescribed course work during two trimesters. Exam will be conducted at the end of Course work and candidate has to obtain 60% in each of the courses to register for Ph.D.

Ban on Ragging in the University

Ragging is banned in the university and anyone found indulging in ragging is liable to be punished appropriately which may include expulsion from the university. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the university premises and outside. Students involved in ragging other students will be punished as per The Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999 (Mah. XXXIII of 1999) published in Maharashtra Govt. Gazette on 15th May 1999. Moreover, it will be mentioned in the Migration Certificate of such students that they are expelled because of indulgence in ragging. The students found guilty of ragging earlier will not be admitted to this university.
