Introduction

This document explains configurations required on Cisco Unified CallManager to communicate with the AND Phone Application Server. The document is not intended being the documentation for Unified CallManager and covers only specific configuration parameters. Complete documentation about Unified CallManager can be found at: Cisco CallManager Administration Guide, Release 4.1(3) http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_gui de_book09186a00803be4ec.html Cisco Unified CallManager Administration Guide, Release 4.2(3) http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_gui de_book09186a00806cc16a.html Cisco Unified CallManager Administration Guide, Release 5.0(4) http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_gui de_book09186a008066fa60.html

Prerequisites

All configurations mentioned in this document are assuming that you have an AND Phone Application Server installed. Additional information about the AND Phone Application Server can be found in the installation and configuration manuals of the AND Phone Application Server.

ATTENTION: Installing the AND Phone Application Server Software on the CallManager Server is not supported. It is required that the AND Phone Application Server is a dedicated server (or a virtual machine). For detailed information about the CallManager you should use the complete documentation of the vendor.

Create CTI User

Communication between the AND Phone Application Server an the Unified CallManager is occurring with AXL and JTAPI. Using AXL and JTAPI requires users which have to be configured on the Unified CallManager. These user accounts are used by the AND Phone Application Server to autorize the communication to the Unified CallManager. The CTI user needs the following permissions: CTI Enabled Associated devices Calling number modification

CTI Enabled: The user must be capable to execute CTI applications. Associated devices: All devices which are controlled by the AND Phone Application Server have to be associated with the user (e.g. devices used to display their status). Beside the manual association it is possible to use the Superprovider for allowing access to the devices. Calling Number Modification: The AND Phone Application Server has the capability to modify incoming calling numbers. This feature is required for advanced manager/assistant services.

3.1 Create User on CallManager 4.x

Step 1: Click on User > Add a New User to create a new user.

Step 2: Specify the name and the password of the user. The name and password of this user account is also required when configuring the AND Phone Application Servers: User ID : Password: _________________ _________________

Step 3: Activate the option Enable CTI Application Use to allow CTI access for this user.

Step 4: Activate Enable Calling Party Number Modification to allow the AND Phone Application Server modifying incoming calling numbers. This is only required for advanced manager/assistant services.

Step 5: Click on Device Association and associate all IP phones which should be controlled. Make sure that you assign also the required RoutePoints (e.g. for AND Phone Group or AND Phone Desktop).

3.2 Create User on Unified CallManager 5.x

Starting with Unified CallManager 5.0 there are two types of users. While End Users are persons using the system there are Application Users especially for internal user accounts to handle application access. For our purpose we are creating an application user which is allowed to access CTI applications.

Step 1: Select the menu User Management > Application User.

Step 2: Click on Add New to create a new application user. Specify the username and password of the user and confirm by clicking on Save. This username and password are required in the AND Phone Application Server configuration as well, so you should note it:

User ID : _________________ Password: ________________

Step 3: Go to section Device Information and select all IP phones and RoutePoints which should be controlled. Move the selected devices to Controlled Devices. Click on Save to submit your changes.

Step 4: Next you have to define the role of the user by assigning the user to different groups. Select User Management > User Group.

Step 5: Click on the group you want to add the user to, e.g. Standard CTI Enabled.

Step 6: Select the user you created and click on Add Application Users to Group.

Step 7: Repeat steps 5 to 7 for all groups you want to assign to the user. Recommended groups for our purpose are: Standard CTI Enabled Standard CTI Allow Control of All Devices Standard CTI Allow Calling Number Modification

Standard CTI Enabled allows the user to control all devices assigned to the user. Standard CTI Allow Control of All Devices allows the user to control all devices without assigning the manually. This is the same functionality than Superprovider for CallManager 4.x.

Standard CTI Allow Calling Number Modification is required to enable the AND Phone Group module to modify the calling party number. Modifying the calling party number is used to distinguish between multiple managers.

3.3 Additional User Information for Unified CallManager 6.x

Beside the configuration of the CTI user like mentioned in the Unified CallManager 5.x chapter you need some additional parameters for the user. Per default the user (even application users) are required to change their password after the first login. For application users, like the application user which communicates with the AND Phone Application Server, this should be disabled. Step 1: Select the menu User Management > Application User.

Step 2: Additionally to the user parameters click on Edit Credential.

Step 3: Check the following options in the Credentials Information: User Cannot change Does Not Expire

AXL Service for Unified CallManager 5.x, 6.x

AXL is used to get configuration parameters from the Unified CallManager and to update configuration parameters on the Unified CallManager. To allow communication between the AND Phone Application Server and the Unified CallManager it is required that the AXL service is running. Because this is not the default setting it is important to enable the service. Step 1: Select Cisco Unified CallManager Serviceability and click on Go.

Step 2: Select the menu Tools > Service Activation.

Step 3: Select the Unified CallManager server you want to access with AXL (Unified CallManager Publisher).

Step 4: Make sure that the AXL service is activated. If not, set the checkbox and click on Save.

Step 5: Select the menu Tools > Control Center.

Step 6: Select your server in the drop-down menu.

Step 7: Verify if the AXL service is activated. If not, select the AXL service and click on Start.

Now the AXL service is running.
