Design Idea Identify a key design idea in the project that may be relevant/applicable to the Terrace project. Bringing light in by cutting through the middle

Arrival/Entry Paste a reduced copy of the plan here and annotate the point/s of arrival into the building.

Using the plan, section and images of the interior, describe how the designer has created a welcoming entry eg manipulation of scale, changes in material, changes in level etc etc.

-Transition from the open outdoors to a narrow small entry -Rough concrete on the outside to a smooth finish on the inside of the entry -change in floor material, with timber floors giving a warm welcoming to a safe inside.

Organisation Paste a reduced copy of the plan here and highlight the location of public vs private areas and the key circulation paths.

Using the plan, section and images of the space, describe how the designer has organised individual rooms from more public to more private to provide a functional and beautiful way of moving through the building. -The bedrooms are isolated from the rest of the house. -No pathways are present, just stairs.

A triangular void creates a connection from the interior and exterior, with glass walls it is more open and creates an inviting public area.

Space & Form Paste a reduced copy of the plan and/or section here and highlight key aspects of space and/or form eg regular vs irregular space, inward vs outward focussed, overlapping space etc etc. Using the plan, section and images of the interior, show how key functions are accommodated in a very narrow width using different spatial strategies.

Views Paste a reduced copy of the plan and annotate the direction of the key views into and out of the building.

Using the plan, section and images of the interior, describe how the designer has used views into and out of the building to integrate the interior with the exterior landscape. They diminished the impact of any glimpses to neighbouring buildings and have used the buildings crooked horizon as a connection to the outside.

Using the plan, section and images of the space, describe how the designer has incorporated natural light and ventilation into the building. -Bring light inside while shutting out views inspired the architect to develop an enclosed manmade environment. -Glass door openings allows natural ventilation
