 Vorwort

Friedrich Johann Franz Burgmüller wurde am 4.12.1806 als Sohn eines

Kapellmeisters und Komponisten in Regensburg geboren. Mit 26 Jahren zog

er nach Paris und verschaffte sich dort schnell einen Namen als Klavier-

pädagoge und vor allem als Komponist populärer Klavierstücke. Seine

Werke gehören zu der unbeschwerten, lebensbejahenden Salonmusik, die

für das Paris dieser Jahre so typisch ist. Burgmüller starb am 13.02.1874 in

Beaulieu bei Paris.

Die 25 leichten Etüden op. 100 nehmen durch ihren melodischen und klang-

lichen Reiz den Spieler unmittelbar für sich ein. Burgmüller gelingt es hier,

technische Probleme mit einem ansprechenden musikalischen Einfall zu

verknüpfen. Die Fantasie des Spielers wird durch die Titelgebung und durch
den musikalischen Anreiz, den jedes einzelne Stück bietet, angeregt.

Preface

Friedrich Johann Franz Burgmüller was born on 4 December 1806 in

Regensburg, the son of a Kapellmeister and composer. At the age of twenty-

six he moved to Paris and quickly made a name for himself as a piano

teacher and more especially as a composer of popular pieces for the piano.

His works belong to the genre of undemanding, life-affirming salon music

that is so typical of Paris at this time. He died in Beaulieu near Paris on 13

February 1874.
The 25 Easy Studies op. 100 captivate the player through their melodic ap-

peal and their sound-world. Burgmüller manages here to link technical pro-
blems with appropriate musical ideas. The player’s imagination is stimula-

ted by the title and the musical indication given to each ofthe individual pie-

ces.

teur, est ne le 04/12/1806 A Ratisbonne. Il se rend a Paris a l’äge de 26 ans et

s’y fait rapidement un nom en tant que pedagogue de piano, et surtout, en

tant que compositeur de morceaux pour piano populaires. Ses oeuvres font

partie de la musique de salon nonchalante, respirant l’amour de la vie, typi-

que du Paris de ces ann&es-lä. Il mourut le 13/02/1874 a Beaulieu, pres de
Paris.

Les 25 Etudes faciles op. 100 seduisent l’interprete par le charme de leur

melodie et de leur sonorite. Burgmüller reussit ici ä allier les problemes

techniques & des id&es musicales attrayanles. L’iimagination de l’interprete

est excitee par P’intitul& et le charme musical de chacun de ces morceaux.
