Study Scope

Define the minimum capabilities needed to establish a sustainable process management practice that enables future growth

Identify the appropriate blend of the seven tenets: strategic alignment, governance, frameworks and models, change management, performance and maturity, improvement, and technology for your business
Determine the appropriate order or precedence to develop the tenets at your organization Create a phased approach for building process management capabilities at your organization

Determine the balance among functional, operational, and process management


Review the levels of process orientation (functional, process-thinking, process-focused, processbased) Determine how process orientation integrates with other management structures (functional, product, regional) Quantify the resources required to manage the process infrastructure, governance, and support Align with other quality, measurement, and improvement activities within the organization Overcome challenges and drive transformation

Establish process management scope, goals, and success factors that tie to business value

Create the appropriate blend of a top-down or bottom-up style

Sponsor Role and Participation


Have up to two key points of contact for study updates and information. Participate in the kickoff meeting hosted by APQC. The meeting can be virtual or face-to-face, depending on the need of the study participants. Participate in site visits with the best-practice partners, facilitated by APQC. Site visits will include both virtual and face-to-face options, depending on the needs of the study participants. Participate in the face-to-face Knowledge Transfer Session at the end of the study. As a sponsor, you have four seats at the Knowledge Transfer Session. Leverage our collaboration space to share and network with fellow sponsors. Adopt and adapt the proven practices learned that can improve your own business practices.
