Minimum configuration (when PC and software operate at full capacity):

Click Start -> Run. Input “dxdiag” to run the DirectX diagnostic tool, as shown below:

The DirectX version should be 9.0C or higher. If not, download software package and
upgrade it.

Hardware accelerator should be set to Full. And the Enable write combination box
should be checked.
1.1.4 DVR Setting Requirement
To control the DVR via Bplayer, you need to set DVR IP address. You can manual set
IP address or auto get IP address by DHCP mode(you should press INFO button
twice,the IP address will appear up-left in the screen).See the figure below:

Click on the desktop to run Bplayer2.02. The interface below appears:

A username can contain English letters, numbers and special symbols.
A password consists of at least 3 numbers or English letters. It is case-sensitive.
The initial username and password are both “admin”. You can click Log in to enter
the main interface after inputting them.
Change the administrator password in time, lest the account information

should be stolen.
See the Chapter “User Management” for username and password operations.
4.Logout
Click at the lower right corner of the main interface to show:

2. Interface
The interface below appears after login. The Bplayer window consists of the work
area, functional menus, task button, local playback button, status bar, image switch
area, tools bar and quit button.

2.1 Functional Menus
The function switch buttons are situated on the right of the window. They are Device
list, PTZ control and System configuration. You can click respective buttons to
enter the relevant interfaces.

The system enters the PTZ control interface by default.
2.1.1 Device List
Basic function: to monitor and switch the networked DVR images in real time.
Click Device list to show:

DVR list: shows the currently networked DVRs. If a multi-ch DVR is connected, you
can double click that DVR to show the channel list. Then click a certain channel to
monitor and transfer videos.
2.1.2 PTZ Control
Basic function: to control the PTZ head of the DVR, including up/down/left/right
moves, zoom, focus, aperture, lighting and screen wiper.

Before performing PTZ operations, switch to the full-screen mode.
In the PTZ control area, click and to control zoom, focus, aperture, lighting
and screen wiper of the current PTZ head.
Press the up/down/left/right buttons to move the PTZ head. Once you release the
button, the head stops moving.
Press to rotate the head.
2.1.3 System Configuration
Basic function: addition/modification/deletion of DVRs in a network; device parameter

setting (including networking, coding and alarm reporting); advanced setting
(including time synchronization and sequencing); system management (including user
management, log management and local setting).

Here, you can perform many operations on the downloaded videos, e.g., play, edit,
slow forward, fast forward, advance, back to start, picture-in-picture, dual-channel
display, etc.
2.4 Display Area
Nine play windows appear in this area by default. You can select the number of
windows through the tools bar in the case of no transmission. Click in the tools
bar to show images from 1 channel; click to show images from 4 channels; click
to show images from 9 channels; click to show images from 16 channels.
The more channels are connected, the more resources are used. Therefore, you
need to decide how many channels should be displayed based on the hardware
configuration, or the monitoring host might not respond or might break down.
2.5 Switching Area
This area is located at the lower left corner of the work window. You can switch
between 1/4/9/16-view display modes by clicking the buttons.

2.6 Tools Bar
The tools bar is at the lower part. It includes common shortcuts, i.e., Connect a
specified video channel, Disconnect a specified video channel, Start/end remote
record, Take photos, Start/end a intercommunication, Start/end receiving alarms, and
Start/end quick-inspect.

2.6.1 Connecting/Disconnecting a specified Video Channel
Click a player window; click a channel of a DVR in the DVR list; finally click
to play the live video of that channel in that window.
Click a player window and then click to stop playing the live video of that
channel.
2.6.2 Starting/Ending RemoteRecording
Click a player window and then click to start remote record. For details, see
6.4.3.

2.6.3 Capturing Screen Snapshots
Click a player window and then click to capture a screen snapshot. For
details, see 6.4.3.
2.6.4 Starting/Ending a Intercommunication
Click a player window and then click to start a two-way intercommunication
between Bplayer and a DVR channel. In this case, the status bar shows the following
information.

Click a player window and then click to start/end receiving alarms. For details,

2.7 Status Bar
The bar is situated at the bottom, indicating mainly the software status and basic
information about the remote DVR.

3. User Management
The software provides 3 levels of user authority:
3: Administrator. It has all operation authorities, including system configuration,

network monitoring, DVR control, data processing, etc.
2: Advanced user. It has all the authorities apart from system setting.
1: Common user. It can only perform network monitoring.
Click the System config menu bar; then click the System button.

This tab contains Add, Delete and Save.
For the administrator, the initial username and password are all admin by default.

3.1 Adding a User
Click Add to show the window below:

Input the user ID and level in the boxes. 3 represents the adminstrator, 2 represents
the super uesr; and 1 represents the common user. A username can contain English
letters and special symbols. Passwords are shown as *.
3.2 Deleting a User
Select a user from the user list and then click Delete to show:

Click Ok to delete that user; click Cancel to abort the operation.

Basic function: to monitor and switch the networked DVR images in real time. Click
Device list to show:

The listed DVRs need to be pre-configured in System config ->Device.
The list shows the DVR models that have been added. To connect a DVR, you can
double click it to show its channel list. Then, double click a certain channel to show
the video. For instance, if you double click BSR-5008N, the list shows “Nine-view”,
“Ch 1”, “Ch 2” … “Ch 8”.

4.1 Playing/Stopping Remote Videos in Real Time
Step 1: double click a DVR in the DVR list to show all the video channels.
Step 2: click a window in the display area to show the monitoring video in it.
Step 3: click Ch X or Image X in the DVR list (alternatively, double click that channel,
in which case step 4 can be omitted).
Step 4: click on the tools bar. If the channel selected in step 3 offers video
inputs, the live video of that channel now is played.
The status bar now shows the IP address and channel of the DVR connected, as
shown below:

To stop monitoring the video of a channel, click its player window and then click
on the tools bar.
Due to network transmission and DVR response limits, you need to wait 1~2
seconds for the DVR to enter a new state after clicking a button in the work
area.
4.2 Switching Display Modes
Before or during monitoring, you can click any of the

buttons to switch among the 1/4/9/16-view display modes.

1) Before performing PTZ operations, switch the PTZ video channel to the
full-screen mode.
2) The system can automatically set the PTZ protocol and the baud rate
according to the PTZ that is connected to the DVR.
In the PTZ control area, click and to control zoom, focus, and aperture
of the current PTZ. Click and beside Aux 1 and Aux 2 to turn them on
or off.

Press the arrow keys to adjust the PTZ directions.
Press to start/stop auto pan the PTZ.

6.1 Device management
DVR settings are the basis for monitoring, downloading and control over the network.
Run Bplayer and log in to the system. Click System config and Device to enter the
device management page.

You can add, modify or delete DVRs here.
6.1.1 Adding a DVR
The system enters the device interface numbered “1” by default, where you can fill
up the DVR information. Then, click Save and Exit to exit the page.
To add a device, click Add and fill up the DVR information. Then, click Save and
Exit to exit the page.
Where, No., Name, Type, IP, DVR user, and DVR password are mandatory items.

1) The selected type must be consistent with the connected DVR. The IP
address is that of the DVR connected. DVR user is the login username of the
connected DVR, defaulted to admin. The DVR password is the login
password of the connected DVR, defaulted to 123456. If any of the four items
is wrong, Bplayer cannot communicate with the relevant DVR.
2) Before connection, make sure the Bplayer client PC can ping through the
IP address of the DVR. It is the basis for networking.

No. DVR No. It should be unique, or the prompt below appears:
Name DVR name. You can decide it according to the actual situation. The
name appears in the DVR list.
Type DVT type. You can choose from the pull-down list. It must be
consistent with the managed device, or connection fails. The pull-down
list is as follows:
Operation Levels 1~3. At level 1, all uses can operate the DVR. At level 2, only
super users and administrators can operate the DVR. At level 3, only
administrators can operate the DVR.
Location DVR position, e.g., counter, hall, etc.
Sub location Overlapped characters that are shown during transmission. To display
this content, you need to check the Overlay character box through
System config -> System -> Basic. This function don’t available now.
IP DVR’s IP address; consistent with the local IP address of the DVR
connected.
Multicast DVR support multicasting. You can leave this item to the software. For
address instance, if a DVR’s IP address is 192.168.88.7, the multicast address
will be automatically set to 224.0.0.002 after the DVR information is
saved.
Gateway Gateway of the LAN where the DVR is in. It is generated by the
software.
Subnet mask Subnet mask of the LAN where the DVR is in. It is generated by the
software.

Transport This is a mandatory item. You can choose RTP, TCP. RTP is
recommended.
Remarks Additional information about the DVR.
1) You can choose RTP, TCP for network transfer, but TCP is not
recommended. As RTP offers time stamp control that ensures the correct
video sequence, you should choose RTP.
Click Device list -> DVR list to show the added DVR models.

6.1.2 Modifying a DVR
The system enters the device interface numbered “1” by default, where you can
click the DVR No. to be modified and modify the information in the pop-up interface.
Then, click Save to save all the information and click Exit to exit the page.

6.1.3 Deleting a DVR
In the Device interface, select the DVR No. to be deleted and click Delete to show
the confirmation window below. Click Yes to delete the DVR.

6.2 Device Parameters
Click Config to enter the parameter setup interface, where you can configure the
device parameters such as network parameters, encode parameters and alarm
parameters.

6.2.1 Network
After entering the Config setup interface, show the network parameter setup interface.
Then, click a DVR in the DVR list on the left to show the window below:

Item Description
IP obtain IP addresses can be obtained in three ways:
Manual: You can set the IP address, subnet mask and gateway
manually. This is suitable for the private network and fixed IP
address in a WAN.
ADSL: Suitable for users that connect to WAN via ADSL. IP

addresses can be obtained automatically via the built-in PPPoE.
DHCP: IP addresses are assigned by the DHCP server

automatically, without manual configuration. The DHCP server is
enabled in the network.
User Used for dial-up access when the IP obtain mode is set to ADSL.
Password You can modify it via the software.
IP address In Manual mode, you need to enter the IP address and subnet

Subnet Mask mask. The IP address must be unique and cannot conflict with
any other host or workstation in the same segment. The mask is
used to decide the subnet segment.
Gateway/DNS The gateway and DNS addresses are intended for
communication between subnet segments.
Transfer mode It can be set to TCP, unicast and multicast. If TCP is selected,
you need not fill up such items as multicast IP address, delay,
TLL, port and packet size.
Multicast IP Class D multicast IP address, ranging from 224.0.0.0 to
239.255.255.255. If the multicast protocol is not used, you can
leave this blank.
Delay/TTL Output delay/life span
Port/packet Port and size of each packet
size
Alarm protocol You can set it to Disable, TCP and UDP according to the actual
situation.
Alarm center IP IP address of the alarm center that receives alarms. When the
alarm reception function is enabled on the monitoring host in the
center, it can receive the alarms from the DVR.
Event Alarm information, including Report normal, Report IP address,
Alarm output, HDD error, Video loss, and Video recovery.
Network ID Used to identify the DVR No. that sends alarms. In the same
network, the DVR’s network ID differs.
E-mail E-mail for receiving alarm reports.
SMTP Authentication upon sending mails. Consult the administrator for
authentication details.
DDNS passport Dynamic domain name service allows the system to transfer
dynamic IP addresses over ADSL. The DVR uses DDNS
passport (dynamic domain name service) to perform monitoring
and transfer of dynamic IP addresses. You only need to apply for
a domain name from the service provider and activate the
domain name. Thus, an accessible domain name is generated.
Then, set IP obtain to ADSL, and input the acquired domain
name to the DVR’s DDNS box via Bplayer. Now, the alarm
center host can access the DVR.
Enable Enable/disable the DDNS passport function.
Password Password of the DDNS
Figure 1-31 shows the DVR configurations that are accessed by Bplayer remotely.
You can make changes in the interface and click Save. The dialog box below
appears:

Click Ok. The software will send the contents to the DVR for corresponding changes.
When you press “Advanced” button, it will show the remote configuration menu, it’s
same as the DVR’s menu.In this menu, you can edit all parameters of DVR through
network.

1) Network settings need to be confirmed by the network management

professionals. Incorrect settings can cause network failure.
2) Although you can set various parameters in the network setup interface,
we strongly recommend the settings should not be made arbitrarily, or
conflict might occur.
3) Upon completion of the setting, you need to restart the DVR to make it
effective.

6.2.2 Encode
Encode setup is intended for setting the advanced video parameters of a remote DVR,
such as the bit rate mode, bitrate, etc. After entering the Device setup interface, click
the Encode tab to show the setup interface. Then, click a DVR in the DVR list on the
left to show the window below:

Frame rate The value range is 1~25. The frame rate refers to the frames per
second. When there are less than 25 frames per second, the video
appears inconsecutive. However, it saves bit streams and reduces
the data load. The default is 25.
Bitrate The Max. data load per second, defaulted to 400Kbps.
Bitrate mode Constant bitrate(CBR): the bitrate does not change upon coding
Variable bitrate(VBR): the bitrate fluctuates upon coding, but the
overall bitrate basically remains stable.
Constant upper-limit bit rate (LBR): refer to the maximum bit rate
during coding, but the actual bit rate may be smaller than it.
Value The value ranges from 2 to 31. It refers to the value step adopted by
coding. When VBR is used, the coder always uses this value for
coding. In this case, the smaller the value, the better the image
quality, and the higher the data volume. When other modes are
used, only the first frame uses this value. And later on, the coder will

adjust it dynamically.
I frame The value range is 0~255. It is used to adjust the sensitivity of a
DVR’s internal algorithm. To avoid algorithm errors, common users
should not change it.
Next I frame
Noise Noise is intended to filter out the noises from the video images. The
higher the noise level, the more noises that are filtered. Be aware,
however, that the image frame will become more ambiguous as the
noise level is increased. Therefore, you should set the noise level as
needed.

6.2.3 Alarm
The system can receive alarms reported by DVRs and generate alarm logs. Enter the
Config interface, click the Alarm tab, and then click a DVR from the DVR list to show
the window below:

Check the alarm type boxes to choose them. Then, the monitoring host can
selectively receive the alarms from the DVR according to the alarm input setting.
On the interface shown in Figure 1-34, check the Alarm input box. Now, the alarm
input channels 1~16 are active, and you can choose any of them as alarm input
channels. Meanwhile, you can input relevant descriptive information in the text box
behind the channel.
To enable alarm reception, make the settings below:
Alarms received by the monitoring host are also restricted by the Event item in
the DVR-side Network setup menu. The DVR-side alarm reports include Report
OK, Report IP address, Alarm output, HDD error, Video loss, Video recovery and
All. For instance, if the Event item is set to Report OK, the monitoring host can
only receive messages of “DVR works OK”. Only when the DVR-side is set to All,
can alarms be received according to the settings in the Select alarm type menu.
The DVR’s REPT IP address must be set to that of the alarm host, and the ALA
PROT must be set to UDP. You can perform the setting on DVR, as shown
below:

Alarm management must be correctly configured at the DVR side and the network
upload function must be enabled, as shown in the Figure below:

After the above setting, you also need to click on the tools bar to enable
alarm reception. In this case, if alarms come in, it will pop-up alarm information
window, for example, the window shows:

The alarm information includes:DVR IP, alarm time,alarm name.The alarm name
can be edit in alarm menu(System Config→Config→Alarm).
Before receiving alarms, make alarm and network settings should be correct
on the DVR. Refer to relevant manuals if necessary.
2. Setting arm/disarm
Select the desired DVR from the DVR list; then choose NC or NO from the alarm

signal type pull-down list and the arm or disarm status from the status pull-down list at
the lower left corner. Then, click Save to show the “Setting success” message. This
means the menu setting has been successfully sent to the remote DVR, as shown
below:

Item Description
6-digit password Input the 6-digit password for arm/disarm. For DVRs above
for arm/disarm V06R01, you can ignore it.
Arm/disarm You can arm or disarm the selected DVRs.

Alarm signal type Normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC). NC means the
sensor is normally closed, and alarms occur upon open circuit.
NO means the sensor is normally open, and alarms occur upon
closed circuit, e.g. When the alarm signal type is set to NO, the
idle alarm input ports on the DVR must be short circuited to the
ground.
For DVRs above V06R01, the alarm signal type setting is not available.
6.3 Advanced Setting
Click Advanced in the System configuration menu to enter the Advanced page.
Where, you can perform time synchronization and set the quick-inspect display. The

interface is as follows:

6.3.1 Time Synchronization
After entering the Advanced setting interface, the system shows the Time
synchronization tab by default. If the current tab is Quick-inspect setup, you can
click the Time synchronization tab to change it.
In the Time synchronization tab, you can set the DVR time remotely via Bplayer.

Click a DVR in the DVR list to show the IP address and time of that DVR. If the time is
inconsistent with the current time, click to show that DVR in the DVR list
window on the right. Then, click Synchronization to show the prompt window below.

Click OK to close the widow. The selected DVR has been synchronized with the
monitoring host.
To synchronize multiple DVRs at one time, you can add them from the DVR list to the
window on the right. All these DVRs will be synchronized with the computer where
Bplayer resides. To add a DVR, select a DVR from the DVR list and then click
. Repeat it to add more.

To remove a DVR from the window on the right, select a DVR in the window and click
. To add all the DVRs in the list to the window on the right, click .

6.3.2 Quick-inspect Setting
After entering the Advanced setting interface, click Quick-inspect setting to show
the interface below:

3. 1. Basic functions
Quick-inspect: to display the work status of the listed DVRs based on your settings
and to generate a quick-inspect log. The quick-inspect log includes such DVR status
reports, e.g., Normal, Abnormal, etc.
The system supports manual or auto quick-inspect of 1~64 DVRs. You can set the
quick-inspect time and frequency as required.
Click or to add a selected DVR or all DVRs from the DVR list

to the quick-inspect list.
Click or to delete a selected DVR or all DVRs from the
quick-inspect list.
quick-inspect time: up to three quick-inspect times can be set. Also, you need to
check the quick-inspect time box to make the settings is “√”.
Click Save to finish; click Exit to cancel the setting.
After the above setting, you must click in the tools bar to enable
the quick-inspect function. After a quick-inspect operation, the results will be
logged.
6.4 System Management
Click System in the System config to enter the system management interface, as
shown below:

6.4.1 User Management
Refer to Chapter 3 for the details of user management.
6.4.2 Log Management
The monitoring software can automatically record users’ operation process, the
device status during quick-inspect, alarm, download and then form a system log.
Click the Log Management tab to show the interface below:

You can search logs by the log type. Click the Log Type pull-down button to select
the relevant log types. You can choose the following:
System log
Download log
Alarm log
Quick-inspect log
You can retrieve logs by the date. Click the Date pull-down button to select date.
Double click a date to show the log of that day, as shown below.

6.4.3 Basic Setting
Click the Basic tab to enter the basic setup interface, as shown below.

1. Color setup for overlay characters

Click the Overlay Color button of Figure 1-47 to show the following window:

Click the color you want, and then click OK to change the color of the overlay
characters. Then click Save to save the settings. In this case, the color of the “TEST”
character beside the button will change to the selected color. The default color of the

overlay characters is blue.
You can set manually whether the overlay characters are displayed on the monitoring
images (the date, time and channel name are set by DVR menu). Check the selection
box before the overlay of Figure 1-47. If "√" appears, the overlay character is
displayed; otherwise it is not.
2. Data storage path setup
You can set the snapshot and video data storage path as needed. Click on the
right of the snapshot and video data to show the File path interface, as shown below:

Snapshot storage path: the default storage folder is DATA\BMP under the path
where Bplayer is stored. Then click on the tools bar to take photos.
The photos saved in that folder can be viewed via various photo viewer software.
Following information pops up when photos are taken successfully.

Video storage path: the default storage folder is DATA\STREAM under the path
where Bplayer is stored. Click on tools bar to begin recording after

setup, the recording image will appear red square in lower left corner. The video
file will be directly stored on this default path.

When the recording is completed, you can click again to end the recording.

07. Download Management
Click the icon at the lower right corner to enter the download management
interface. It includes download by network, download by HDD and download task.

7.1 Downlaod by network
You can download the video files from the remote video recorder to a local device or
play them on line over the network. On the download management interface, you can
click tab to enter the download by network interface. Click the

button to exit the Network Download interface.

Click a recorder in the list to show its IP address, working mode.

Select one HDD of the specified recorder in the HDD pull-down list, and click
button to show the video data list menu.

corresponding button to retrieve files when the video clip list contains many pages.
: First page: Skip from the current position to the first page of the list.
: Previous: Move to the previous page when the file list has many pages.
: Next: Move to the next page when the file list has many pages.
: Last page: Skip from the current position to the last page of the list.

7.1.3 Network Play
You can select one file in the file list to preview the video in the network play window,
and perform the operation of Play, Stop, Slow forward, Fast forward, and frame
play as well as control the progress bar. The video can slow forward at the speed of
1/2 or 1/4, and fast forward at the speed of 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X and frame play. Frame
play is to play important frames (I frame) only. The internal of the I frames is based on
the DVR setup. Speed changes will be displayed in the box,shown as:

One frame appears each time you press the frame play button.

When a video is being played (regardless of whether images exist in the play window),
other video clips appear grey in the file list and cannot be played. If you want to play

another video, press the Stop button first, select the specified video
and press the Play button . You can also press the Slow forward button
, Fast forward button and frame play button
to control the play speed upon playing, or drag the play progress
indicator to a desired position.
7.2 Download by HDD
Bplayer can download the data of video recorders or USB disks to the monitoring host
(you must connect the HDD or USB disk to the monitoring host). When entering
the download management interface, you can click to enter the download
by HDD interface.
7.2.1 Opening the File List
The physical HDD list shows all the HDDs (or the USB disks) that are connected to the
monitoring host currently, as shown below:

“Physical HDD 0” is the system HDD of the monitoring host, and “physical HDD 1” is
the HDD or USB disk that is originally connected to the video recorder.
Click Refresh button if the corresponding physical devices do not appear in

the physical HDD list after plugging a USB disk or connecting a HDD via USB
cable.
If there are more than one original HDD on the monitoring host, the newly
connected HDD is numbered in sequence.
Please select “physical HDD 1” before download data from the recorder HDD.
Please select the video recorder type of the data source in the pull-down list before
download data. When connecting a USB disk, select USBX for the DVRs version
above V06R01 and select USB for the V5.xx version.
After selecting the physical HDD and the video recorder type, click to
display all the video files of the HDD or USB disk on the screen.

7.3 Download task
The monitoring software offers the schedule download function. You can set the
download time and channel for the selected video recorders.

When entering the download management interface, you can click tab to
enter the download task interface, as shown below:

Adding a download task: A number of tasks can be downloaded at the same time
through the software. Double click one recorder in the DVR list to show the
channels 1~N (N depends on the number of channels).Click one channel to set
the date, begin/end time for the download task, and then click
button to add it to the download task list. Clicking one recorder and then
button will add all channels of that recorder to the task list according
to the specified date and time.
The download task time ranges from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59.
Deleting a download task: Select one task from the download task list, and then press
button to delete it.

The list includes the DVR name, the DVR type, and begin/end time of the download
file, as shown above. Two download schemes have been added to the task list, i.e.,
the first channel, the third channel, of BSR-6008+. The download begin/end time of
each channel has also been included in the download task list.In this case, you can
click to download the video files to the storage path according to the
schemes of the download list, as shown below.

08. Local Video Playback

The system can play BlueStar’s series video recorders. When the videos are
downloaded to the local PC’s HDD, you can play or edit it in the local file play
operation area.
Click in the main interface to enter the local video playback operation area.

8.1 Play Control
Click in the tools bar to open the file. See the following interface:

Select the files you want to play, click Open to play the selected video file.
The system supports Normal play, Stop, Slow forward, Fast forward, Frame,
Snapshot and Back, as shown below. When the cursor stays on a button, a hint will
appear.
The play control bar shows the current play progress and the current play status is
displayed in the play parameters area.
You can drag the play progress indicator
to a desired position.
8.2 File Information
Following file information appears during video playing.

8.3 Video Editing
The monitoring software supports video editing for you to extract key information.
During video play, click beside Begin to set the begin time, and click
beside End to set the end time. You can also click to extract the video that
has been played. In this case, the original file remains and the new clip will be saved
with another name, as shown below. The new file lasts from 10:18:32 to 10:18:38.

8.4 Picture in picture play
BlueStar’s ATM series recorders support simultaneous recording of “Slot” and “Face”.
When playing videos from ATM series recorders, you can click to display the
“Slot” and “Face” video data in (picture in picture) PIP display mode, or click
to display the videos in dual-channel display mode.

In order to achieve the simultaneous play, the monitoring software downloads

the data of ATM series recorders together with the video files of “Slot” and
