Elijah was not superhuman. He had the same sinful, human nature like you
and I. But when he prayed with fervency and faith, God answered his prayers.
The very power of God was unleashed, all because a humble servant got on
his knees and prayed! The prayer in itself had no power; rather, God was
waiting for Elijah to get on his face and pray before He did His mighty work.
He is waiting for us to do the same, and He is eager to accomplish great
things if His people would only ask!

can only be met through God’s power. Earnestly ask Him to work in those
areas, and trust Him to answer your prayer according to His will.
1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we
ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears
us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have
asked from Him.
Only 33% of the people in this world profess to be Christians, and most of
these don’t even realize the truth about Jesus Christ. That means more than
67% of the world is going to spend an eternity without the only real God who
loves them. That’s more than 4.4 billion people! God has a passion for each
individual person; He loved each one enough to die on a cross. Do you have
that kind of passion?

Pray for the harvest, because it is larger than it has ever been, and is still
growing. We are in desperate need of more workers.

Pray for a specific region in the world that needs to hear the good news
about Jesus (at home or abroad). Ask God to open doors and soften hearts.

Pray for the workers who are currently in the field: 2 Th. 3:1-2 “Finally,
brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be
glorified, just as it did also with you; and that we will be rescued from
perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.”

 Spiritual Leaders

Our spiritual leaders especially need prayer. These leaders may include
pastors, mentors, teachers, parents, etc. They include anyone who has an
important role in the lives of other people. They have more responsibility and
accountability, they generally deal with more difficult situations, they are
prime targets in spiritual warfare, and they are more visible and subject to
gossip/criticism. The following is a list of suggested things to pray for your
leaders. It is not comprehensive. Write down the names of your leaders and
the leaders of others on the back of this card, and pray for each one.
Pray for favor with God

That they rely on the Holy Spirit to direct them, and not their own
understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).

That they continue to grow closer to God.

That they speak God’s word with boldness.

That God enable them to handle the stresses and burdens of their ministry.
Pray for favor with men

That others will be supportive of their needs (physical, emotional, spiritual).

That they will be in unity with other leaders.

That they retain an attitude of servanthood.

That they will be able to handle opposition through God’s strength.

That they keep “a spirit of unity, not competition; humility, not superiority;
cooperation, not defensiveness.”

That those they lead would make themselves available, and join in
accomplishing the mission God has given them.
Pray for their priorities

That they learn to be wise stewards of their time and possessions.

That their relationship with God remains top priority.

That they remain focused on their goal.

That they take time for rest as well as work.

That they don’t ignore areas of life that are important (spouses, family,
recreation, etc.)
Pray for their families

That there would be no resentment when sacrifice is required.

That they be supportive.

That the whole family remains in unity and love.
Prayer for Family

Confession
Confession - A written or oral statement acknowledging guilt,
made by one who has been accused or charged with an offense.
Confession is extremely strong, and it can make a great difference
in how we communicate with God, or even get to the point of being
effective in prayer.
Read the following verses, and pray about how these confessions,
or lack of confessions, have had an effect on people.
Ezekiel 21:24- "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
'Because you people have brought to mind your guilt by your open
rebellion, revealing your sins in all that you do—because you have
done this, you will be taken captive.

• But the type of confession that really must take place must be
the confession of being human, being a sinner, the door to talking
with God personally.

Through prayer we get to communicate with the God who
designed us, and in doing so he will also guide us through
whatever we are doing, or about to do!
• Pray about how God is in control, and how he will guide you
in your life.

• When we pray, God is near us, personally with us, and
listening intently.
Deut 4:7 - "For what great nation is there that has a god so near to
it as is the LORD our God whenever we call on Him?
• God hears everything we say, and in prayer we talk to Him
directly.
Job 22:27 - "You will pray to Him, and He will hear you; And you
will pay your vows.
• Because God knows what you need, and He hears everything
you tell him, he wants us to ask for things that coincide with
his will.
Matt 6:8 - "So do not be like them; for your Father knows what
you need before you ask Him.
• Ask God earnestly, and what we ask for will be given to us-
we need to ask for things.
Matt 7:7 - "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will
find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
• God delights in prayer; it is, in addition to the Bible, the most
vital communication we have with our Creator.
• Pray through some of these verses, and pray back to God
some of the things He is showing you as you pray to Him.

Thanksgiving
• We should give thanks for all the things that God has given
to us, and the life He gave for us.
Psalm 16:9-10 Psalm 107:1-2
• In Psalm 136 thanks is given to God in so many different
ways and for many things. It is an example of how we
should thank God for everything He has given us. Read some
of Psalm 136 and pray back to God the things you are
thankful for in your life.

• We should not just be thankful for the good things in our
lives, but for everything.

• On the back of this card write some things that you know are
hard to be thankful for, or spend some time telling God about
them, and rejoicing in the hard things he has shown and/or
things he has given to you.
• Spend time thanking God for all He has done for you, the
tough, the great, the wonderful, the blessed, the trials and
errors, and all the people He put in your life to help you.
• You can write the names down if you think that it will help
you remember all of the things He has given to you.
Reason for Prayer
“God’s acquaintance is not made hurriedly. He does not bestow His gifts on the
casual or hasty comer and goer. To be much alone with God is the secret of
knowing Him and of influence with Him.” –E.M. Bounds
God’s Word shows His reason for prayer. Spend time to ask God to burden you
with this. Journal any thoughts on the back.
God delights in it
Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,
But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Revelation 5:8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the
twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and

 Hindrance to Prayer
Ponder the following verses and ask God to bring to mind the things that hinder you
from prayer. Journal any thoughts you have on the back.
Deut 1:43-45 So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead you rebelled
against the command of the LORD, and acted presumptuously and went up into the
hill country. The Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and
chased you as bees do, and crushed you from Seir to Hormah. Then you returned
and wept before the LORD; but the LORD did not listen to your voice nor give ear
to you. So you remained in Kadesh many days, the days that you spent there.
Psalm 66:18 If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear;
Micah 3:2-4 You who hate good and love evil, Who tear off their skin from them
And their flesh from their bones, Who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their
skin from them, Break their bones And chop them up as for the pot And as meat in
a kettle. Then they will cry out to the LORD, But He will not answer them. Instead,
He will hide His face from them at that time because they have practiced evil deeds.

Claim the following verses for your life as you walk free from the hindrances you
have thrown off:

speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God,

Adoration
All of a person’s problems stem from a misunderstanding of God’s nature and
character. The following are titles God gives Himself in Scripture – they are a light
into His character. Use them as a method to praise Him for Who He is. Write any
thoughts about how you are walking in the Truth of His character (the first three
have examples you can follow for the other names).

Prayer for the Lost
Think of the people whom God has brought into your life that don’t know Jesus.
Ask God to put their names in your mind – it may be family, friends (past and
present), foes, classmates, co-workers, or acquaintances. Write the names that
come to mind on the back of this card. Use the following as a rough prayer outline.
God wants us to be specific in our prayers and requests, so ask God to use specific
relationships as a door for Him into the lives of people!
Invite God to change your life as a sign to the lost – 2 Cor 5:17 If anyone is in
Christ, He is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have
come!
God draws them to Himself – John 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father
who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
They seek to know God – Acts 17:27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they
might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
They believe the Word – 1 Thess 2:13 For this reason we also constantly thank
God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you
accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which
also performs its work in you who believe.
Satan is bound from blinding them from the truth – 2 Cor 4:4 in whose case the
god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not
see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Affirm your trust that the Holy Spirit is working in them – John 16:8-13
God sends someone to lead them to Christ – Matthew 9:37-38 Then He *said to

Prayer for Government Leaders
Prayer for government leaders is commanded (1 Tim 2:1-4) as we pray for all men.
Knowing that perilous times are near (2 Tim 3:1), we should be diligent in prayer
for our leaders. They are given authority over us by God (Rom 13:1). Here are
some ideas to pray for our leaders:
Governmental decisions leading to tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and
dignity for believers - 1 Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and
prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all
who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness
and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires
all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For Church-wide conviction to honor political leaders - 1 Peter 2:17 Honor all
people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
Pray that leaders will fear of God, Who has given them authority - Romans
13:1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no
authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
2 Chronicles 19:6 He said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for you do
not judge for man but for the LORD who is with you when you render judgment.
Justice in judgment - Proverbs 24:23 To show partiality in judgment is not good.
Laws and policy aimed at serving the people rather than themselves –
Isa 10:1-2 Woe to those who enact evil statutes and to those who constantly record
unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of my people
of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the
orphans.

 Fervent Prayer
Webster’s dictionary defines fervent as “showing great warmth of feeling; intensity
devoted or earnest.” If it were possible to spend ten years with Jesus learning the
necessity and depth of prayer, what would your life look like? He is willing, are
you? Trust Him to put in you a desire for fervent, mountain moving faith and
prayer. God will give you the same relationship He shares with Jesus here on earth
if you are willing to go to the prayer closet (Matt 6:6) and hand your life over (Luke
22). Ask God to convict you in this area as you read through the verses, and write

Wait on the Lord
Waiting is not “standing around,” but an act of “binding together” with God. God
is so big that our finite minds often forget Who God is. Take time to remind
yourself of God’s presence in your life, experience God’s cleansing, and to worship
your Creator. It is helpful to remind yourself of these things every day. Read a few
of the following verses in the time provided. While reading, meditate on God in
your life and practice being in His presence but know that you will miss the point if
you look for some mystical experience.
