1.00 Identity Cards: The use of I.D. cards for all workers, including the daily supervisory staff, is mandatory. I.D. is not required for the Architects and contractor Managers, who visit the site for short duration. However, they should carry some kind of identification. 2.00 2.1 2.2 2.3 3.00 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 3.5 3.6 Barricade: Use of nails and marble drilling is strictly prohibited. The marble/carpet must be protected with ply boards and polythene sheets. Use of welding for temporary and permanent works is to be avoided. In case it is absolutely unavoidable, the same is to be supervised by the Hotels Fire Officer. Work Code: No Noise. No loitering around in any other area of the Hotel. No sleeping even in the work place. No bringing of food at all inside the work place. Water jugs to be filled and kept in work place but no spilling and messing up. Contractor can use water cooler in the Back-of the House (to be co-ordinated with Chief Engineer). All works creating noise, hammering or pounding not to be started before 09.00 hours on week days and 11.00 hours on Fridays. It is important that Contractors are apprised of that all requirements of Fire and Life Safety regulations of the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel and other prevalent building codes for the Hotel. The following are the requirements to be taken before commencing work: The entire steel structure is coated with Fire Spray of 3 hour rating any work involving the damage of the Fire Spray, the same is to be re-instated. All new steel members added will have equivalent Fire Spray coverage.

The use of Fire retardant materials is mandatory as per the following guideline pertaining to paints, wall covering, curtains, carpets, ceiling panels, ceiling tiles and general wood works. E/1

Maximum flame spread rating 75 (ASTM) E-84. Maximum smoke developing rating 450 (ASTM) E-84. Pass rating based on UL214 which covers:

Duration of burning after withdrawal of test flame. Flaming material dropping from test specimen. 3.3.3 Vertical spread of flame and smouldering combustion indicated by the length of char on the material. 3.3.4 3.8 3.9 3.10 3.11 3.12 3.13 3.14 3.15 Surface spread of flame in folded test specimen.

Ignition control through electrical mechanical installation of approved quality and workmanship. Proper compartmentation. Zonal integrity of fire detection, alarm system and sprinkler or fire hose systems. Escape routes and their capacity, dimensions, hardware and Exit indications. Lighting levels and judicious arrangement of essential lighting circuit and non-essential lighting circuits. Use of fire dampers wherever new fire barrier walls divide the existing duct system. All preparations should be taken by the Contractor before starting the work with the co-ordination of the Hotel Fire Officer. To avoid flooding of the areas, wherever the works requires disconnecting or cutting of the pipeline, authorisation from the Chief Engineer or his subordinate in writing is mandatory. 3.15.1 On pressure testing the equipment the presence of the Hotel Engineer is mandatory.

Electrical Installation or alteration. Presence and approval of hotel engineering personnel is mandatory. Verify that equipment for open flame work is in satisfactory operating condition. Cover wall or floor openings to prevent the passage of sparks. Cover or shut down ducts that might carry sparks to combustibles.
