Mixing AT-FCX and ESH2 shelves on the FAS3000 Series filer Can DS14mk2-AT and DS14mk2-FC shelves be mixed in the same loop? Can AT-FCX and ESH2 modules exist in the same loop? Can ESH, ESH2, and ESH4 modules exist in the same loop? Can AT, AT-FC2, and AT-FCX modules exist in the same loop? Can IOM3 and IOM6 modules exist in the same storage stack? Can IOM modules be mixed with AT-FCX? What cables do I need to connect my disk shelves?
ATA storage uses the AT-FCX modules. Fibre Channel storage uses the LRC, ESH, ESH2 or ESH4 modules. Mixing LRC with ESH, ESH2, ESH4, or AT-FCX in the same loop The LRC module is supported in the DS14 and DS14mk2-FC shelf. However, shelves containing LRC modules cannot be containing LRC modules cannot be in the same FC-AL loop with shelves containing AT-FCX modules.
Mixing ATA and Fiber Channel in the same loop You cannot mix DS14mk2-AT and DS14mk2-FC disk shelves in the same loop. Therefore, you cannot have LRC/ESH/ESH
Mixing IOM3 and IOM6 in the same storage stack The IOM3 module is supported in the DS4243 shelf, and the IOM6 is supported in the DS2246 shelf. These two modules be cabled together in the same storage stack, i.e. connected to the same SAS adapter on the storage controller. Only one type of I/O module can exist within a single shelf. ESH4 modules cannot be used in the DS14 shelf. ESH and ESH2 modules cannot be used in the DS14mk4-FC shelf. If ESH4 modules are mixed in the same loop as ESH and/or ESH2 modules, the loop cannot operate at 4 Gbps. Note: To achieve the 4Gbps throughput, it is advisable to configure the FC-AL loop to contain only ESH4 modules in If ESH2 and/or ESH4 modules are mixed in the same loop as ESH modules, the loop can operate at 2 Gbps if all shel conditions are not met, the loop will operate at 1 Gbps.
