Exp-1: Introduction to Autodesk Maya and its basic building blocks.

Software Used: Autodesk Maya 2008, Windows Xp. Hardware Used: Intel Dual core processor 2.2 GHZ (approx) , Intel Graphics Chipset , LDC display, etc. Theory: Multimedia is defined as the collection of different media or content forms such as audio, video, images, animation and text to convey some information effectively and efficiently in a different and attractive way. Modeling: The creation of stationary objects in Maya can be defined as the modeling. NURBS Modeling: Non- Uniform Rational B-Spline is used to generate complex organic and twisted curves and models by exploiting the property of B-Spline curves which grant greater control over the geometry of the curve with control points. It is also easy to join such curves together. Polygon Modeling: This type of modeling is used for creating symmetric and regular shapes with the help of basic polygon shapes like: sphere, cube, cylinder etc. These polygons are joined together to produce complex shapes. NURBS to polygon conversion is possible but reverse is not possible. It is generally used for edged surfaces. Motion: Motion is the movement of 3D objects in their domain over a certain period of time. That is change in co-ordinates of objects with time. Forward Kinematics: Forward Kinematics is used for regular and continuous over time movements of an object. Eg : Movement and orientation of a robot arm as a function of its joint angles. Inverse Kinematics: Inverse Kinematics is used to produce some defined but not repetitive motion of an object. Eg : Motion of an arm forward to pick up a glass. It deals with motion necessary to achieve a particular position. Animation: It is a rapid display of certain 2D or 3D images so as to create an illusion of motion. Key Frame Animation: In this technique there is a timeline with defined time points. Objects are given certain positions between these time points and then the whole is simulated to get and illusion of motion from one position to another. Path Animation: In this technique the position and rotation of an object is controlled attached to a curve. In order to have a motion the object must be attached to a curve. Motion Capture Animation: In this technique motion of a particular scene is captured using recording and then this motion is applied to the user made objects, to give an illusion. Non Linear Animation: In this technique the regular clips are manipulated ,

blended to obtain an interaction rich animated scene. Special Effects: These are the elements which are added in additional to the basic elements of the scene to enrich the realism of the scene. Special Effects may include: Shadow Lightning Textures Pixel Shades Synchronization Anti Aliasing Filtering Resolution Motion Blur Rendering: It is the process of converting 3D wire frame models into 2D images with 3D photorealistic effects.
