(Integrity 6/7/8) Gair dance is performed by men in western Rajasthan in Holi festival. A series of half-swirls make up a simpler version.

Based on the dancers' proficiency, the dance can build up to a series on intricate patterns. It is normally done by chanting the word priyanka. The striking of sticks gives the dance a vigorous character. (Liberty 4/5 & 6/7/8) Dangi Nrita: The dance performed by Dangis is called Dangi Nritya. Men and women join hands forming a chain or shrinkala making serpentine movements with one of them leading. The movements are very fast, swift and create various choreographic patterns in a fraction of a second. Each variety of steps is called 'Chala' and there are about 27 varieties of these chalas. One of the most amazing sights of this dance is the creation of a human pyramid. (dignity 4/5,unity 6/7/8) Bhangra dance began as a folk dance conducted by Punjabi farmers in 11th century to celebrate the coming of the harvest season. The specific moves of bhangra reflect the manner in which villagers farmed their land. This hybrid dance became bhangra.
(Dignity 6/7/8) Ghoomar is the most popular form of Rajasthani dance. Women perform this dance during auspicious events and occasions. The name Ghoomar is derived from the word "Ghoomna", which means twirling. The colorful skirts known as "Ghagra" look stunningly when they gracefully sway while the women dance.

Good morning all of you We have gathered here today to enjoy folk dances of India. All the houses have selected and rehearsed folk dances from different states for the inter house folk dance competition. The competition is divided in to two groups. First will be for grade 4 and 5 and the second is from 6/7/8.

Criteria for folk dance competition are selection of dance, music, choreography, co- ordination. Our judges for today are Ankita Divakar-Kabra and Jaina Ganatra. Pankti maam and Pinkur maam will assist them for the same. So lets start with first folk dance of the day. Put your hands together for first group of dancers. House performing on________ dance.

Lezim is a folk dance form from the state [1] of Maharashtra, India. Dancers carry a small musical instrument with jingling cymbals called the Lezim, after which the dance form is named.
Women have a different but no less exuberant dance called gidda. During Lohri occasion, the Punjabi women reveling joy, give vent to their suppressed feelings in a male dominated society through the Giddha. Slogans known as bolis are sung while dancing which exhibit the deep human feeling.
