This document provides installation instructions for a cable gland type E1 FW in two parts: direct entry and remote installation. For direct entry, the cable gland is separated into two sub-assemblies which are installed onto the cable and equipment. For remote installation, one sub-assembly is secured to the equipment first before connecting the cable and securing the second sub-assembly. Both methods require preparing the cable, inserting it through the gland while spacing the armor, tightening components, and securing the outer seal nut.

Hold the main item with a spanner then tighten subassembly "8" onto 6. Tighten the outer seal nut until either: subassembly "A" ensuring the two components make "metal to metal" i) the outer seal nut makes metal to metal contact with the gland body, or contact. ii) the outer seal nut has clearly engaged the cable and cannot be further tightened without the use of excessive force by the installer. This completes the procedure for the direct entry installation Please see overleaf for remote installation '-____________.J Document Reference: FI 242 Issue 3 06/07 - .,.
