Volleyball

Level 1: I can with a soft-touch volleyball, on a small court with a low net
• Catch the ball when it comes over the net and throw it up for someone else on
my team to play a volley or dig shot.
• Use an underarm throw to serve the ball over the net.
• Show that I understand when the ball is in and out of play in a game.
• Show that I understand who wins the point if the ball hits the net and fails to go
over.

Level 2: I can also


• Play a volley with a little height when someone throws the ball to me at close
range.
• Play a dig with a little height when someone throws the ball to me at close range.
• Play an underarm serve over the net from 3-5 metres away from the net.

Level 3: I can also


• Play a volley with a little height in a game when someone passes to me.
• Play a dig with a little height in a game when someone passes to me.
• Play a volley with a little height over a low net.
• Play a dig with a little height over a low net.
• Demonstrate that I understand the 3 shot rule in volleyball.

Level 4: I can also with a soft-touch volleyball, on a small court with a high net
• Play a successful underarm serve from 5-6 metres away from the net.
• Play a volley with some height over a high net.
• Play a dig with some height over a high net.
• Show that I understand the serving rules including rotating.
• Show that I understand how to score in volleyball.

Level 5: I can also


• Consistently play a successful underarm serve from the serve line on a small
court.
• Play a volley with height and accuracy to a member of my team in a game.
• Play a dig with height and accuracy to a member of my team in a game.
• Play a shot setting the ball up from a serve from the opposition.
• Demonstrate that I usually attempt to set up an attack using 3 shots.

Level 6: I can also


• Play a successful tennis serve from the serve line on a small court.
• Demonstrate that I consistently attempt to set up an attack using 3 shots.
• Vary the length and direction of my underarm serve on a small court.
• Demonstrate that I understand the net rules in volleyball.

Level 7: I can also on a full court with a soft-touch volleyball


• Consistently play a successful underarm serve from the serve line.
• Attempt to block an opposing player’s shot.
• Successfully set up an attack using 3 shots on the full court.
• Play a successful tennis serve from the serve line.
Level 8: I can also on a full volleyball court with a regulation volleyball
• Consistently play a successful underarm serve from the serve line.
• Play a successful tennis serve from the serve line.
• Block in pairs an opposing player’s shot.

Level 9: I can also


• Consistently play a successful tennis and underarm serve from the serve line.
• Vary the length and placement of the serve.
• Dig from anywhere on the court.
• Play a reverse dig shot.
• Play a spike.

Level 10: I can also


• Serve to any position using either tennis or underarm serves.
• Volley from all positions on the court.
• Play a reverse volley.
• Play a high and low reverse dig.
• React to the ball coming off the net.
• Time a run in and play a spike.
