CPW 4U1 Fahrenheit 9/11 Film Critique Mr. Cavallaro Thomas Gianfrancesco St.

Joan of Arc Catholic High School Thursday 29th, September, 2011

Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore talks about how the United States of Americas government is essentially corrupt when George W. Bush was in power. They make sure certain things pass and happen so that the leaders and the rich will gain out of it. The start of all of these events happens with the initial election in 2001 where the deciding state of Florida voted in favor of Gore but since Bush had connections with his brother and republicans he had it rigged and won the election. Afterwards they recounted several times and Gore won every time, this is true but nothing changed and Bush was just given the Presidents role. Bush didnt do much for the country when he initially started and took most of his time in power on vacation. When the September 11 attacks occurred to the Twin Towers in New York City, Bush ordered that he send the American troops to Afghanistan and they wage war against the Taliban the supposed attackers to USA. They entered Afghanistan on just reason and continued to take out Taliban leaders. After the attacks and the invasion of Afghanistan the government began to scare the population into believing what ever the news would tell them. They would be fearful of another attack on American soil, possibly something even worse than the Twin Towers, an atomic bomb. Society became scared to walk out of their own house because of threats of terrorism. This scared society was easily able to convince to let enter war. A year later for almost no reason other than supposed weapons of mass destruction they invaded Iraq. The reason for invading Iraq was essentially for oil, to threaten Iran and to find and kill

George Bushs fathers enemy Saddam Hussein. Even though 14 of the 19 hijackers in the 9/11 attacks were Saudi Arabian they never invaded Saudi Arabia because of the friendships between the American Government, George Bushs family and the Saudi Arabian government and oil businesses. America needs oil so invading Saudi Arabia (the largest oil reserve in the world) would essentially rob them of their own country. They had more reasons to invade Saudi Arabia but instead invaded the country that gave the least amount of threat to them Iraq, because of greed and the ties between Bush and Saudis. This essentially makes the USA corrupt because they will do anything even sacrifice their own men for money and power. They spend 6 billion dollars a year on two wars that they dont need to be in anymore considering that most of Iraq is tame and they are simply angering the populations by staying there. As of August 2011 the current Iraq war there have been 111,938 civilian deaths in Iraq. These are innocent lives being taken from people in their own homes because America is fighting against terrorists that pose a threat to the USA. There have also been 4,404 deaths of American armed forces due to the Iraq war, they are not needed to be in the Middle East fighting a country that no longer serves a threat to USA and because they are still there people are dyeing for no reason. The government is making profit off of their own armys deaths and the deaths of thousands of innocent people in a foreign country they are supposed to be protecting. Michael Moore is trying to show the people of America not to believe everything they are told because things are happening under the table when society is not looking. Society needs to know about the truth and what is really happening to their country for the gain of the rich. Under the guidance of George W. Bush the

country was put into two wars that dont need to be going on and into massive debt by funding the wars. People need to be more involved with what is going on around them so that we dont have another Bush situation.
