Appendix 1: Searchable, Browsable, PDF, and

Handheld Versions of Online Books
Created: August 02, 2006

Bookshelf provides you with various methods for searching, browsing or downloading the online books. Many
of the books are browsable, allowing you to “click” your way through the book via the Table of Contents page.
Some books, because of agreements with the publishers, can be searched but not browsed. Many books are
available as PDF files and are denoted by the PDF icon on the book’s Table of Contents page or the Chapter
pages. The PDF files contain individual chapters or the entire book, depending on the book’s structure and size.
Please install the Adobe Reader [http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html] software on your
computer to view the PDF file. A smaller subset of books may be downloaded to your handheld computer. For

The Appendix includes the complete list of online books on the Bookshelf and the icons denote whether you
may search, browse and/or download the PDF and Handheld versions. Select the book’s hyperlinked title to
search or browse via the Table of Contents page, or download a PDF or Handheld version of the book. The
icons are defined as:

• All books are Searchable and include the magnifying glass icon.

Many books are Browsable and include the check mark icon.

• Some books are available as PDF files and include the Adobe Acrobat icon.
