ABOUT SETS AND KNOWLEDGE CENTRE


Society for Electronic Transactions and Security (SETS) is an initiative of the Central Government through the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India. SETS was established for the purpose of nucleating, sensitising and developing technologies that can protect the information wealth of the country. Such an idea to form a specialized organisation in the area of information security was conceived by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, formerly the Hon'ble President of India and was implemented by Dr. R.Chidambaram, PSA to the Government of India. SETS is the first organisation in India established in the Public-Private Partnership mode that is engaged in information security. SETS has its headquarter at Chennai close to IITM Research Park in Taramani. SETS is engaged in the research areas of hardware security, network security and cryptology. SETS has signed various MoUs with leading Institutions specialising in information security. SETS has initiated a programme with Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) to engage in research in Cryptanalysis. It has a special library with collection, both print and electronic, in the field of Cryptology, Cryptography and allied subjects. The library has been automated using LibSys Software and Bar-coding has been done.

To survey the Information Security measures, practices and methods adopted in various types of libraries. To collect the case studies of libraries in the context of Information Security. To identify the problems, challenges and prospects in the implementation of information security measures in libraries.

In the light of the above the objectives, the conference will have the following sub themes: Preservation Environment Digitisation: Tools and Process Use of Bar-coding in Libraries Application of RFID Technology in the Libraries Information Security Measures Computer Hardware and Software Security / Conservation strategies in the Digital

REGISTRATION FEE
For LIS Professionals, Faculty and Librarians Rs. 600.00 which covers Seminar Kit, Pre-Conference Proceedings (with ISBN), Working Lunch, Tea and Snacks. For the outstation participants accommodation will be provided on sharing basis at the cost of Rs. 150/- per day. (Subject to availability). The contributors whose abstracts are accepted are requested to send the full length paper along with registration fees as prescribed. Papers received without registration fee are not considered for inclusion in the pre - conference volume. The Registration fee may be paid through Demand Draft in favour of SETS payable at Chennai and addressed to the Organising Secretary on or before 15-11-2011. No TA/DA will be paid to the participants. Number of participants are limited to One Hundred only (100).

THEME OF THE CONFERENCE


Information is considered as the fourth economic resource and without information human life remains standstill. In the information era or knowledge society or information society, information, knowledge and intellectual property are super powers. Such widely needed information, suffers threats from various corners especially from the Information and Communication Technology itself. Hence, the information security has gained and assumed a greater importance. Therefore, this National Conference aims at identifying various threats to information infrastructure and brings out the information security solutions. This conference also is planning to throw light on information security management and technical components of security and try to provide a birds-eye-view-of the content of the information security and related concepts needed in planning, designing and implementing an effective information security system in Libraries. Original research papers are invited based on the case studies, library practices and experiences on the above themes of the conference. Papers merely containing theoretical concepts will not be accepted. Interested authors are requested to submit the full length paper not exceeding 3000 words, after accepting the abstracts. The decision of the Editorial Committee is final and the contributors are informed to strictly follow the time schedule. address by subject experts from various reputed institutions across the country.
