MATERIALS Yarn: Classic Worsted Holiday by Universal Yarn (79% acrylic, 19% wool, 2% glitter) 100g / 197 yds Color 104 Red Glow, 1 ball Needles: US Size 7 (4.5mm) straight and double pointed needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE Notions: cable needle, waste yarn, yarn needle

MEN'S MITTS Left Mitt: With straight needles, cast on 46 sts. Row 1 (WS): P2, K2, P8, K1, P8, K2, P2, K19, P2. Row 2: Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), P19, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), work Row 1 of men's mitt patt chart across 21 sts, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS). Row 3: Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (WS), work row 2 of chart across 21 sts, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (WS), K19, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (WS). Work even in patt as set until piece measures 2" from beg, ending after a WS row. Insert Thumb Next row (RS): Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), P2, with waste yarn P5, sl these sts back to LH needle and purl these 5 sts with yarn used for Mitt, continue in patt to end. Continue in patt as set until piece measure 6" from beg, ending after a WS row. Bind off all sts as follows: cast on 1 st, K1, SSK, sl 2 sts back to LH needle, * K1, SSK, sl both sts back to LH needle; rep from * until all sts have been joined, knit last 2 sts on RH needle through back loops and fasten off, leaving a 24" end. Thumb Remove waste yarn and sl 9 live sts to dpns, dividing them evenly. With RS facing, beg at RH side of thumb, join yarn and K5 live sts, pick up and knit 3 sts around thumb opening, K4 live sts, pick up and knit 3 sts around thumb opening to start of rnd. Rnd 1: Knit, dec 3 sts evenly around. Rnd 2: Knit. Rnd 3: Rep Rnd 1. Work even in St st (knit each rnd) on rem sts until thumb measures 1" from pickup. Bind off all sts as for hand. Right Mitt: With straight needles, cast on 46 sts. Row 1 (WS): P2, K19, P2, K2, P8, K1, P8, K2, P2. Row 2: Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), work Row 1 of Men's mitt patt chart across 21 sts, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), P19, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS). Row 3: Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (WS), work Row 2 of chart, work 2 sts in Built-in I-cord (WS), P19, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord. Work even until piece measures 2" from beg, ending after a WS row. Insert Thumb Next row (RS): Work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), work next row of chart across 21 sts, work 2 sts in Built in I-Cord (RS), P14, with waste yarn P5, sl these 5 sts back to LH needle and purl 5 with yarn used for mitt, work in patt to end. Work remaining Thumb same as Left Mitt. FINISHING Using yarn end and mattress stitch, sew side seam, turning one st from built-in I-cord to inside. Weave in ends. Block.
