First Grade News

October 3-7, 2011

What were learning
Our Bible stories for this week are Abrahams Servant Finds a Wife for Isaac and Jacob Tricks Isaac. Even when we try to take problems into our own hands, the Lords plan always prevails. We are focusing on the et word family, alphabetical order, and blends. In math we are working with pattern blocks, writing number sentences, and starting double facts. P.E. will include parachute exploration this week. In music we are learning about rhythm and movement.

Assignments
Your child will be getting a new reading log for the month of October. Great reading! When you read Christ Light stories with your child, you become a powerful, reading role model for your child. He/she sees you looking at the words to read, using inflection in your voice, following the text with your finger (at this early reading level this is encouraged), stopping at periods, and reading from left to right. These are all important aspects to reading. Thank you for your help at home! Bibles and Hymnals will go home this week to be covered, if you choose, and labeled with your childs name. Please bring them back to school by Friday. We will keep them here at school. Later in the year, your child will bring his/her hymnal home to learn hymn stanzas. Monday: Read Christ Light story Abrahams Servant Finds a Wife for Isaac Read Wet Tuesday: Memory Work (Hebrews 11:1) Practice Sight Words Wednesday: Read Christ Light story Jacob Tricks Isaac Thursday: Memory Treasure (5th Commandment) Spelling Test (bet, jet, met, pet, set, wet Bonus: let, set, vet)

Jesus Give Away

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) He is our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer! He always has been... our mistakes and emotions wont change that. May we continue to faithfully trust his promise. In Him, Miss Luehring
