Accuracy and Repeatability

Whether a product is being measured by dipstick, scale, gauge or meter, a great deal of confusion exists about what is meant by the word "accuracy". Accuracy and repeatability are not the same. You cannot have accuracy without having repeatability. If you have good accuracy, you are bound to have good repeatability. Measuring the repeatability of an instrument does not imply the instrument is necessarily accurate.

Turbine Meter
A turbine meter measures clear non-viscous liquids. Each revolution of an internal rotor equates to a volume of liquid. Available in four sizes.

Electromagnetic
An electromagnetic meter measures conductive fluids and slurries. Volumetric measurement accuracy is unaffected by suspended solids. Available in four sizes.

Positive Displacement
A positive displacement meter measures volume. As liquid flows through the measuring chamber, it causes the piston to rotate. Available in four sizes.

Mass
A mass meter measures weight / mass based products. The Coriolis type mass flowmeter features a vibrating tube. Sized on application. The ACCU-MASS is a direct reading mass (pounds) flowmeter. Single tube design provides true sanitary construction and full Clean-In-Place capability. With no moving parts, the ACCU-MASS provides accurate and reliable performance. Direct mass measurement is unaffected by variations in product density, temperature, viscosity, or suspended solids. Four sizes available in sanitary design. D sensors, Elite sensors, and Basis sensors are priced on application.

Sanitary Design
Accurate Metering Systems, Inc. sanitary flowmeters all carry the 3-A symbol to ensure all product contact surfaces can be mechanically cleaned (CIP) or can be dismantled easily for manual cleaning. The 3-A symbol, which is part of a 50-year old program of voluntary consensus for the dairy and food industry end-users, offers numerous advantages. Processors know they are in compliance with applicable sanitary codes for equipment construction. They are also assured that with equipment meeting 3-A Sanitary Standards, they can apply the most modern cleaning and sanitizing methods, materials, and systems to in-plant operations. The increased efficiency in equipment cleaning means lower cleaning costs, especially savings in labor. Inspection will present fewer problems when equipment companies comply with the 3-A Sanitary Standards.
