TASK: Drainage, Excavate, Blinding, Reinforcement, Shuttering and Concreting to Beams LOCATION: Ancillary Buildings DURATION: 6 weeks
METHOD: Excavations The area to be excavated will be clearly marked on the surface. Excavation will be carried out with a 360 excavator to the correct level with the use of a rotating laser. The excavated material will be loaded into a dumper taken and tipped away from the working area. Extra excavation will be taken and filled sand or pipe bedding in the positions of the drainage. Blinding Concrete Levels will be marked in the excavation with the rotating laser for the top of the blinding concrete. The concrete will be taken directly from the concrete mixer and placed into the excavation with a 360 excavator. The concrete will be smoothed out ready to receive the steel. Steel Reinforcement The steel reinforcement will be prefabricated as our Method Statement No.003. It will then be lifted into position with a 360 excavator onto the blinding concrete and any additional bars to join the beams will be fixed in position. (Attached Method Statement No. 003). Shuttering using Corrugated Beam Form Corrugated Beam form will be placed at the side of the steel reinforcement and spaced off the steel with the appropriate clips as supplied by Corrugated Beam Form Limited. (Technical brochure for Beam form Held in site office. The Beam fill will be backfilled on the outside using 20mm pipe bedding.

The concrete will arrive on site premixed in a concrete wagon. The concrete will be transferred into an excavator bucket from the concrete wagon. The concrete will be placed in the beams from the excavator bucket. The concrete will be vibrated using a vibrating poker. The concrete will be levelled and floated with trowels or easy float. Hessian or a concrete curing agent will be used to cure the concrete. Drainage Attached Method Statements Excavation up to 3 Metres deep. Once the beams have been concreted the drainage will be laid under the beam on Grid Line A and brought up onto the beam on Grid Line B and fixed in the correct position. PLANT AND EQUIPMENT:

A)

Excavation work up to 3 metres Prior to work commencing, a pre-assessment of the ground conditions will be carried out by an engineer, this will involve taking cognizance of the immediate environment, any other works being carried out in the area adjacent, the likelihood of water ingress etc. This assessment will be reviewed as works proceeds and recorded in the excavations inspection register. The works will be executed by means of 1800 hydraulic wheeled excavators or 3600 hydraulic tracked excavators. Excavations will either be battered back to a slope suitable for the prevailing ground conditions or supported by one of the following means:a) b) Hydraulic box shoring systems. Trench sheeting braced by hydraulic waling frames or box frames.

Whichever is appropriate dependent upon location and ground conditions. Backfilling to excavations will be conducted progressively with support systems being withdrawn similarily. Compaction of backfill will be appropriate plate/drum compaction equipment. All machine and plant operators (where appropriate) will carry CITB or equivalent qualifications. All plant/equipment will carry/or will have on site certification appropriate to their usage. All excavations are to be isolated from unauthorised personnel (where necessary) both during working hours and at night time by an appropriate barrier system.
