2.0Purpose:Thisdocumentsetsforthgeneral,operational,technicalandperformance requirementsforFogPilotAssistanceSystemforsafety(FOGPASS). 3.0ScopeofApplication: 1.1 FOGPASSisanonvitalandnonsignalsystem.Aimofthissystemistoassistthe LocopilotbygivingprewarningabouttheapproachingLandmarkssuchasSignal, LCgate,PSRetc.wheretheLocoPilotsattentionisrequired. ThisdeviceiswithoutanySILlevelhencehaschancesofmalfunctioningincaseof system troubles as well as in case no GPS signal is received, it is an indicative deviceandshallnotberelieduponfullyforsignallinginformation[HP1]. 1.2 RoutesurveyforcollectingtheGPScoordinatesoflandmarksisnotcovered.It willhavetobecarriedoutseparately&programmedintoFOGPASS.

4.0 Details: 4.1 Terminology


4.1.1Landmark:AfixedlocationsuchasSignal,levelcrossinggates,Permanentspeed restrictions,neutralsectionoranyotherlocationasidentifiedbytheuseras landmark. 4.1.2 4.1.3 Prewarning distance: It is the distance from a landmark from where the warningshallbegivenwhileapproachingthatlandmark. ShortDescriptionofLandmark:ItisthetexttobedisplayedonLCDpanelto indicateabouttheapproachinglandmark.ThismayconsistofStationcode/LC gateNo.,itsdescriptioninshort,locationetc.

4.2

GeneralRequirements

4.2.1 FOGPASSshallbeuniversallysuitableforalltypesofsectionsofIndianRailways likesingleline,doubleline,twinsingleline,multiplelinesetc. 4.2.2FOGPASSshallbesuitableforalltypesofelectricanddiesellocomotives,EMUs/ MEMUs/DEMUsandanyotherselfpropelledvehicletreatedastrain. 4.2.3 FOG PASS shall be capable of working in all types of electrified as well as non electrifiedterritories. 4.2.4 FOGPASSshallbesuitablefortrainspeedsupto160KMPH.

4.2.5EachFOGPASSunitshallstoreeventsessentialfordiagnosticpurposeforaperiod of15days. 4.2.6Itshallhavebuiltinrechargeablebatterybackupfor18[RB2]hrs.durationwhen fullycharged. 4.2.6FOGPASSunitshallbedesignedasaLocoPilotstoolandthusitshallbeportable, compact in size, light & of robust design. The weight of the unit, including battery,shallnotbemorethan1.5Kg,thisshouldallnotincludebatterycharger, shoulderbagandswivelingarrangement[HP3].Itshallbeaportableunitwhich canbeeasily[RB4]carriedbythedriverforplacementonthecabdesk.[RB5]

4.2.7 Each FOG PASS unit shall be supplied with a suitable shoulder bag of nylon materialforporting&carrying.Thedesignofthebagshallbesuchthatforusing theunitonlytheupperportionofthebagisrequiredtobeopened&thereisno needtotaketheunitout. 4.3 FunctionalRequirements 4.3.1 Locationidentification&RouteLog

4.3.1.1FOG PASSshall bean intelligentsystem havingGPSreceiverwith small antenna, which shall detect location of the locomotive when kept in the locomotiveandshallcontinuouslycalculatethedistanceremainingtothenext landmark(s)alreadyloadedinthesystembythepurchaser. 4.3.1.2 Theunitshallbecapableofdetectingitslocationcorrectly+10meter [RB6]ifswitchedonanywhereonthetrackforwhichtheroutedatais already programmed in the unit and after movement, it correctly displaystheapproachinglandmark. 4.3.1.3 FOGPASSshallbe programmabletofeedtheGPScoordinates ofall Landmarksasidentifiedbytheuseralongwiththeirshortdescription & location. The GPS coordinates shall be collected by carrying out routesurveyofthesectionseparately. TheFOGPASSunitshallbecapableofstoringmultipleroutedatainits memory.Thesystem softwareshallenablethedrivertoeasily select amongtheloadedroutesusingthekeypad.

PreWarning,Display&Announcement: 4.4.1 TheSystemshouldgivewarningsasperfollowingscheme:

Thelandmarktypes&prewarningdistancesgivenaboveareonlyforguidanceandcan bechangedbytheuserdependinguponlocalsiteconditions. 4.4.2 OncetheFOGPASSunitiswithinprewarningdistance,asprescribedin Clause 5.2.1[RB10], of the approaching landmark, it shall display the short description & the remaining distance (in Meters) of the approachinglandmarkonfirst(top)two[HP11]linesofLCDinlargefonts till the landmark is passed. It shall also make audio announcement once[RB12] to the loco pilot. The audio warning shall be different for differenttypesoflandmarks. Thesystemshallalsodisplayshortdescription&remainingdistanceof next two landmarks in geographical order on other two lines on LCD screenincomparativelysmallerfontsfordifferentiation.[RB13]

After first landmark is passed, the second landmark shall shift to first two lines only when it has come within prewarning distance. In such case,thethirdlandmarkshallshifttosecondline&newnextlandmark detailsshallappearonthethirdline. Theprewarningdistanceshallbeconfigurablebythepurchaser.Itshall be possible to configure this distance separately for each landmark or foragroupoflandmarks. Thevoiceannouncementinspeaker&shortdescriptionfordisplayshall beasperthedescriptionforeachtypeoflandmarkgivenintheformat ofClause6.4.2. ThedisplaymoduleoftheFOGPASSunitshallbeswivelingfeaturefor adjusting the direction for best viewing by the Loco Pilot according to therequirement. ThelanguageofdisplayaswellannouncementshallbeEnglishonly.

Others: 4.5.1 It shall be possible to change/add/edit the route data by re programming the system with a new route data to make the unit suitableforanewsection.Thisshallbeprotectedbyapassword. The system shall have easy selection between up and down route direction of a section. The System shall have a feature to select the routeautomatically.Itshallbepossibletoselectthedirectionoftravel using an Up/down direction selection switch on the front panel of the systemunlessautomaticselectionisenabled.Arrangementformultiple routesselectionfeedershallbeavailableinthesystem. When system is in auto route selection mode, it shall select the route basedonthelocation&directionofmovementautomatically.However, theroute so selected shall be displayed on the LCD with voiceprompt for confirmation from the Loco Pilot. The system shall not display or announceanylandmarktilltherouteisconfirmedbytheLocoPilot. Itshallbeastandalonesystem. ItshallbeunaffectedbyweatherconditionslikeFog,RainorSunshine.

GPS antenna along with its cable of sufficient length shall be provided with each FOG PASS unit. The antenna shall be portable & shall have magnetic base which can be fixed on loco body outside. The magnetic base shall be strong enough to keep the antenna fixing intact even undervibrationsexperiencedbyarunninglocomotive.Thelengthofthe antennacableshouldbesufficienttoconnectbetweenantenna&FOG PASSunitkeptonthecabdesk. System shall determine the correctness & quality of the GPS signal received and in case quality of signal is not considered adequate to correctly identify its location, the same shall be indicated on the LCD display.

Thesystemshallbelowpowerconsumingdevice. Thebatteryshallbeinbuilt,rechargeable&ofLiiontype.Thebattery capacity shall be sufficient to provide 18 hours backup when fully charged. PrechargedsetwillbeprovidedtoLocoPilots. Charger: 4.8.4.2 Achargershallbeprovidedforchargingtheinbuiltbattery. 4.8.4.3 The input supply to the charger shall be taken from locomotive which shall be 110V DC + 35V in electric locomotives & EMU/DEMU and 72V DC + 25V in diesel locomotives.Thechargershallalsobesuitabletoworkwith 230V+30%ACinputsupply. 4.8.4.4 The charger with any of the input supply shall be capable of chargingthefullydischargedbatteryinnotmorethanfour hours. 4.8.4.5 Charger shall have an indication to indicate when battery is fullycharged.

The event log shall store, each landmark passed during the journey alongwithdate,time&speed.Thelocationofwarningwithdate&time shallalsobelogged. The system shall have RS 232 port or any other standard port for communication with PC/ Laptop having special software for uploading/downloading the route log, programming & configuring variousparameters,downloadingofstoredevents.AUSBportshallalso beprovidedfordownloadingofeventsonaUSBdrivedirectlythrough keypad and it, should not, require any manufacturer specific software forthispurpose.[RB23] The facility to add/edit/delete the route data & landmarks shall be protectedthroughapasswordtoensureauthenticoperation. The supplier shall also provide computer software for uploading of locationdatapertainingtothesectionthroughcomputersoftware.

OtherRequirements 4.12.1 TheFOG[RB24]PASSunitshallbehousedinIP41compliantshock[HP25] resistant box made of polycarbonate or high impact ABS material with minimum wall thickness of 3 mm. The battery shall be built into the samebox&shallformanintegralpartoftheunit. 4.12.2 Thesystemshallhaveanaudiooutjack(3.5mmdia)forinterfacingthe unittoadditionalspeakerhavingbuiltinamplifiertoamplifytheaudio warninglevel,ifrequiredinfuture.

Performance&EnvironmentalRequirements 4.13.1 The unit shall meet the requirements of RDSO specification no. ELRS/SPEC/SI/0015/ Rev 1October 2001 for Reliability of Assurance specificationforElectroniccomponentsforuseinrollingstocks. 4.13.2 The climatic and environmental conditions prevailing in India are the following.TheGBLPF[RB26]ASshallbedesignedtoworksatisfactorilyin theseconditions: Atmospheric temperature (i) Maximumtemperatureofmetallicsurfaceunder thesun:75C.
