Welcome to our second edition of the firms newsletter! Hopefully everyone enjoyed their summer holidays, the sea, sun and sand! If anyone had any adventures they would like to share with us, feel free to do so! The aim of this newsletter is to update you will all recent activities and news of the firm as well as for any future events.

Trainings & Conferences

Recently we had our 8-day induction course to the new staff of the firm. The Induction Team hopes this was very useful for the future progress of all staff. On behalf of all the Induction Team we welcome the new staff to the firm and we wish you a challenging and rewarding career Antonis attended a Navigating IFRS training course in Stockholm, a 2.5-day advanced-level training course by GTI IFRS team, focusing on practical application issues of IFRS Antonis, Froso, Maria Papiri and Michalis Melifronides attended seminars on Covered Bonds: A key Financing Tool for Banks and Mortgage Lenders and Basel III: Changes of the capital adequacy framework. In June, Elena Aristidou and Froso Yiangoulli attended a 2day train-thetrainer programme on leadership foundation learning about various leadership brands and teaching techniques and this will be delivered to all managers and partners in the coming months Antonis regularly attends, Centra webcasts, online periodic IFRS technical developments updates via GTInet and IASB webcasts and online IFRS technical updates on new IFRS developments

Business Development Team

Our business development team Stavros, Stephen, George P. and Augoustinos have done several visits abroad recently in an attempt to attract investments in Cyprus and bring new work to the firm. More specifically visits have taken place in Ukraine, Moscow, Poland and China. The feedback is positive! More similar events are planned for the future.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We have currently renovated our Limassol offices and have donated all old furniture to some army administration offices. More changes to the Limassol office will take place soon Donated money to 2011 New Zealand Earthquake Appeal We have helped financially several charities We appreciate everyones effort for a greener office. Please continue recycling paper, plastic and batteries as our contribution to the environment

GTeam
Thanks to all those which showed interest in joining our GTeam! After a draw, the GTeam until the end of 2012 consists of: Demetris Chioureas, Andreas Gregoriou, Marina Aristodimou, Vartoug Manoukian, Achilleas Nerouppos and Marina Neophytou. The GTeam will soon announce their actions for the near future. Involvement by all staff will be needed for making a difference each day to us and our society!

Upcoming Events
We are planning a large event for existing and potential clients sometime towards the end of the year. Hopefully Ed Nusbaum, CEO of GTi will be able to join us also The GTeam is considering a tree planting event and tailoring of a park in Egkomi and even naming it Grant Thornton Park! Children day the GTeam will arrange a day which will be dedicated to those less fortunate. Initial thoughts are to find and donate toys and clothes for children in need Animals day the GTeam is arranging a family visit to the Donkey sanctuary as well as a visit to a dog shelter to help the animals in need

Brand Awareness Discount Scheme

We are working on obtaining discount cards for the staff from a number of shops, restaurants etc. Currently we are contacting our clients and contacts for this. If you have any contacts which would be interested in offering a discount for the staff of our firm, please inform Achilleas Achilleos about this. Secondments Tasos in Chicago

It was very hard at first because everything was new and I didnt know anybody. Things got easier, I wouldnt say everyday but week after week, I began to meet new people, learn how the office worked and by week three I was sent to my first client. Working in America is different than anything I have I ever experienced and the culture, mentality and overall dynamic of the office is something completely different. Work takes up a lot more time for employees and a lot more is expected above and beyond the normal responsibilities. I am enjoying the experience of working in America and am preparing myself for the mighty colds of the winters of Chicago which I am being constantly warned of how brutal they can be. Last year they had at times two feet of snow. Even now the temperatures have dropped to 15 Celsius.
