Examination Regulations

Students/Candidates are allowed access only to specific materials during a Restricted Examination. Answering Part A
Part A, Multiple Choice Questions (20%) The 20 multiple choice questions are based on chapters 11 to 15 in the L&L 11ed textbook. You can expect at least two question from each chapter.
To familiarise yourself with the format of the multiple choice questions. I suggest that you visit the textbooks companion website. At www.prenhall.com/laudon:
(a) click Companion Website under Management Information Systems, 10/e, (b) choose the appropriate chapter, and (c) Select Self-Study Guide in the left-hand menu and proceed to try out the multiple choice questions
Answering Part A
My
suggestion is this: do not attempt to answer all 20 questions in one go but instead handle them in rounds. If you want to know more about the strategies for answering multiple-choice questions you should visit the following websites:

Part B of the exam will have 3 questions. You are expected to answer TWO questions only, each question worth 15 marks. These answers are to be written in the examination booklet

part of the exam provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the theoretical part of the course, using relevant terminology and concepts and their application.

B comprises 3 easy questions and students are required to answer only two questions. Even though some of the concepts are overlapping in various chapters, broadly speaking questions in this part prominently covering the chapter mentioned below Textbook chapters 5, 6 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15

These questions are styled after the Weekly Discussion Questions found at the end of each chapter. Selected answers to some of these review questions may be available in Appendix in the study book

should spend no more than 120mins/100marks x 30marks = 36 mins (Maximum) to answer part B.
QUESTIONS
Part C consists of a case study with 3 compulsory questions. Each of these questions may be further divided into few parts. These questions are designed to test your understanding and application of the various information systems concepts and ideas found in the whole textbook and not just NOT from a particular chapter alone.
CIS5001 S2-2008 Examination format (Part C) Part C, Case Study (50 Marks)
To
give yourself some practice in answering Part C I recommend that you attempt the various case studies available end of each chapter, preferably with other fellow students. I encourage students to post their solutions on the discussion forum to engage other students on these case studies.

There are often many solutions to a problem but giving all possible solutions loses marks in a case study situation because it is considered unrealistic.
the exam, you should cover all 12 MODULES and in the CIS5001-S2 2009 course (refer to course study schedule on p. 7 of the Intro Book. This guidelines should help you prepare for the upcoming exam 2009. The 2-hour exam will comprise three parts. NO GUIDE CAN REPLACE YOUR COMMITMENTS
