That generate medical engenderment, for instance heart valves, medical stents, and complementary medical devices. Howbeit, as Riordan Manufacture, Incorporated role in maintaining these products through hardware in the system network is inadequate. Analyze the end-users role in the difference between personal and business computer systems of hardware and software that reinforces with latest updates. levels for accurateness. Finance and Accounting exhibits inadequacy that is incompliant with F&A systems, consequent in an incompatibility, affecting a negative impact on the company. Review of the Finance and Accounting page Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated Finance and Accounting department, consequent subsystems invoices inaccessible within the program. Though Finance and Accounting is an imperative to incorporate accurate, updates, and working data. Consequently, in allow management, shareholders, and employees to comprehend all data. HR and Legal Resources Current System: HRIS in place in 1992 Proposed System : HRIS updated to 2005 or better with more security and features also incorporating into an ERP HR not managing what they should be Blanketing the business system and subsystems that incorporated in Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated a substantial amount is primitive in tracking HR and employees. Practicality, in a reevaluation with the structure of the system that is previous to outside connections to management in with employees files and corporate offices (Apollo Group, 2004). The data-files incorporated into the HRIS system and managed companywide, by HR personnel, in prevention of security or record lapses. Supplementary, to HR department is necessary in tracking area of concern in compensation that allows a separate manager operates files out of Excel spreadsheets (Apollo Group, 2004). Accessible for HR, HR corporate, management, and employees encounter. Available information present in those data-files or in the Employee Relations Specialists physical files there can be a huge amount of room for a law suit or for harassment of the

employees through lack of properly securing information. Setting the files within the HRIS system and indexing them while protecting them with an account based protection so that only HR personnel can access them would go a long way to centralizing the needed information. The Legal department however seems to be in much better shape. Everything is indexed through the office of Mr. Bradford and then disseminated to whoever needs the information whether it is the retained law firm or the individual posing a question (Apollo Group, 2004). This means that as long as he would be able to enter the information for legal issues within a secured system that only he and the companys oversight personnel have access to it should allow for privacy while also keeping the records needed for legal purposes. Entirety of problems resolved by instituting an ERP style-system and managed through a ticket-system internally. By implementing ticket-system that would flag HR personnel request a question from the legal department. The security of accessibility through authorization and encryption and data entered allows for a secure system. Sales and Marketing Current economy Produces new opportunities Housing Market A challenge for Appliance manufacturing Actively surveying the industry Current economic conditions for Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated have created opportunities to gain some leverage in to relatively low interest rates with new investments to enter new markets and increase the companies productivity. Continuing to be strong producers are the appliance and aircraft markets. Projections for sales of automobiles suggest that sales of automotive parts are consistent, but Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated should expect pressure from domestic automakers to cut costs (Riordan intranet Sales & Marketing, 2004).This pressure will necessitate new marketing techniques to keep Riordan the manufacturer of choice.

Several factors contribute to Riordan marketing its products, presently Riordan manufactures plastic bottles, fans in all sizes, heart valves, medical stents, and custom plastic parts. Automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, and appliance manufacturers are all reflective of the strength of the economy, and the strength of the housing markets affects appliance manufacturers. The change in demand for the drink products in the bottles they produce is only marginally affected by the economy (Riordan intranet Sales & Marketing, 2004). Riordan surveys its clients to determine gauge market inclines and downfalls to stay on top of the economic pulse of each industry. To gain feedback Riordan conducts listening tours from the industry to determine if there are any additional needs or custom services that Riordan can provide in addition to their surveys. IT Security at Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated Accessed through a VOIP/data router is the T1 connection A series of network servers Random security assessments Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporateds information regarding the security of WAN is sparse at best. Information regarding the port configuration, router configuration, and any security software is not available to us at this time. But the diagrams supplied to our organization show the network setup for each facility. A brief description of possible security settings and procedures that each facility will follow are: Corporate Headquarters, San Jose California and Hangzhou, China facilities. Through network configuration the San Jose, California facility and the Hangzhou, China facilities are virtually the same. Accessibility that stems from the outside, through via two routers using VoIP/data-router first connecting to T1-line. Since, sales representatives and those employees that telecommute use company-issued laptops, access though the router is controlled

Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated, Business Systems and Sub-systems 16

by restricting MAC addresses for those telecommuting and salespersons accessing the network while in the field. For those non-employees accessing the network, access is granted only through specific ports. All other ports will be turned off thereby creating fewer points of access through the router. The computers IP address must be authenticated in order to gain access to the network. The satellite communication is used to connect the San Jose office with the office in Hangzhou, China. Access is controlled through the use of authentication and encryption. Since the satellite is used to communicate between the two facilities, network monitoring is easy to control on that end. In the second level of security three network servers and a series of gateways are used to regulate the traffic through the network. By monitoring IP addresses the routers control the DHCP. And the use of firewall Software is a part this level. Located in the third layer of the I.T department, it consists of random security assessments by the I.T. department and third party agencies hired by Riordan. Regular audits of usage include frequency of connections are performed and if that user is accessing only information pertinent to each persons position. Network permissions are only granted to employees on a need-to-know basis. Employees are only allowed access to portions of the network that are pertinent to their job. For example an employee in the Quality assurance department has no need to access information in the finance department. To add additional corporate and network integrity, no employee, manager, or corporate officer is allowed access to the entire network. The three different layers have their own strengths and weaknesses, yet when used together, the layers will help to create a secure and easily monitored network.

Conclusion Overall the systems within Riodan Manufacturing Incorporated are currently insufficient and need to be expanded in order to adequately supply the infrastructure and benefit to both the customer and the company itself. Expanding the systems into an actual ERP system with transaction processing and database retention while at the same time keeping those systems actively protected would go a long way towards building the company forward with this project and others. Retaining legal consultation for the future and current plans with the expected influx of customer data would allow the company to minimize any risk, while also allowing it to actively push forward into the future. The prospective plans have merit but should be reviewed further through specialists eyes so that any problems are seen prior to implementation.
