State the goals and objectives of the Chapter for the previous year and the results. The goals are centralized under the Province Polemarchs Theme: Going from Good to Great and are: (1) Strengthening Membership Relations, (2) Strategically Invest in the Jacksonville Community, and (3) Support our Youth through our Guide Right- Kappa League Programming. The objectives are bulleted below each Goal, followed by the results of each. Part III is supported by the Krimson Scroll which details the Chapters work on each Goal as well as provides evidence of the results of the objectives met below. Thereafter, additional supporting documentation is provided and is keyed to each goal. Strengthening Membership Relations Results: Create a Kappa/Silhouette Konnections Business Directory Support our members who are business owners Develop a more comprehensive user-friendly Chapter website for the public Improve communications among the Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas ( J.A.C.K.) [Chapter Members, Silhouettes, Undergraduates and Kappa Leaguers] by adding links on our website for the Silhouettes, Kappa League, and three undergraduate chapters Hold more events at different price points to make the Chapter functions accessible to all brothers as a reclamation tool Leverage the Chapter memberships professional talents and skills in an effort to reclaim more brothers Reduce overall costs to the Chapter on maintenance of the Fraternity House, development of marketing pieces, deliver the J.A.C.K. as a brand to the Jacksonville Community Involve the Jacksonville Silhouettes in strategic planning of the Chapter Revitalize the Chapter newsletter: the Krimson Scroll Cultivate leadership among the undergraduate chapters in J.A.C.K.
Membership/Business Directory was produced and provided at the September Chapter Meeting The website www.JacksonvilleKappas.com was renamed and revamped with Delta Psi, Xi Lambda, Omicron Delta, Kappa League, and Silhouette pages The Summer Picnic and Founders Day events were free to all Brothers The Chapter hosted a variety of new events: including a Fall Wine Tasting, Couples Night Dinners, Chapter seating for the Cedric the Entertainer Comedy Show, KappaJax picnics, the Silhouette Christmas Party, a Valentines Social Saturday meetings every other month to involve brothers who work on the third Thursday of traditional Chapter meetings Undergraduate Polemarchs presented standing undergraduate reports to the Alumni Chapter during business meetings Kappa Leaguers participated in four Chapter Meetings per year The chapter enjoyed approximately $135,000 in professional services savings from reviewing and modifying contracts, project management on the Fraternity House, and providing its own desktop publishing services Hosted a dinner for the Silhouette Executive Board and shared with them all of our goals for the upcoming year Sent a representative to each Silhouette business meetings to show support Invited the Silhouette President to share their needs and concerns at our chapter business meetings The Krimson Scroll published twice a year in a magazine format issued to brothers and those who utilize the Chapters constituent services Polemarch hosts undergraduate Chapter Polemarchs

Provide Kappa Leaguers opportunities to participate and observe during our monthly chapter business meetings Empower and encouraged participants empowering to seek leadership positions at their schools, churches and other organizations Increase recruitment strategies to include the Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas inviting not only their family members, but also friends and acquaintances Create a Kappa League page on our website which included an updated application and brochure Revise Kappa League brochure Instituted a mass mailing to middle schools, high schools, and other organizations Host a city-wide Kappa League Round-Up recruitment session Extend the program to include young men in 6th-8th grades ( Jacksonville has a 21% high school graduation rate for African-American males, creating a need to engage these young men at an earlier age) Increase contact hours with Kappa League members Results: Doubled the number of public service projects from fifteen to thirty Doubled the number of leadership training opportunities offered to Kappa League participants Kappa Leaguers participate in four Alumni Chapter meetings per year Kappa Leaguers participate in two leadership development retreats per year Doubled the number of Kappa Leaguers who participate in the Jacksonville Chapter of Jack & Jill Leadership program Increased the number of Kappa Leaguers who hold elected offices at their schools and in community organizations Increased Kappa League membership by 150% 2. Describe briefly the Chapters budget; its development, sources of funds; distribution of resources and relationship to goals stated in item #1. The Chapter budget is based on a zero-budget methodology that allows the Board of Directors to lay out the events/ tasks to the membership and how the events/tasks are to be funded. The budget is presented in September as a part of the State of the Chapter, which allows committee chairmen to provide input prior to its presentation. A majority of the members present adopts the budget for the year. The board makes adjustments throughout the year, as necessary. The 2010-2011 annual operational budget is developed by 62 dues paying financial brothers with thirteen 50 Year Brothers that are exempted from paying local chapter dues. Targeted fundraisers which produce other sources of income, such as the Klean But FunQy Soire, Wine Tastings, renting out the House allow the chapter to support additional events as outlined in Question 1. The annual budget inures to the three Goals of the Chapter: (1) Strengthening Membership Relations. Thirty-five percent of the budget of the Chapter is designated for this goal. (2) Strategically Investing in the Jacksonville Community. In partnership with the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right Scholarship and Development Foundation, Inc., the Chapter is able to host an annual Charity Golf tournament, wherein scholarships to academically talented high school students are awarded to assist them with paying for college. With the Chapter and Foundation contributing 30% each to this goal, we are able to double our support for community
programming. (3) Supporting our Youth through our Guide Right/Kappa League Programs. Here, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right Scholarship and Development Foundation, Inc., takes the lead in funding our Kappa League program that is70% of its budget funds the Kappa League program--while the remaining 35% of the chapter budget is allocated to Guide Right programming. A copy of the fiscal years budget is provided in the additional documentation. 3. Describe the Chapters Guide Right Program. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right Leadership Development League program consists of young males within the Jacksonville metro area schools including Duval, Clay, and St. Johns counties. Meetings are held at the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Fraternity House every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month during the fall and every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month in the spring. Kappa League members conduct the meetings themselves using Roberts Rules of Order complete with minutes and other reports. The Kappa League members attend church services every 2nd Sunday of the month and are also required to turn in report cards for each grading period. Under the direction and leadership of Chairman Dennis Gamble and his advisory team, the Kappa League program has taken measures to expand its reach within the Jacksonville community by extending the program to include young men in 6th-8th grades in addition to those who participate in the 9th-12th grades. Through this initiative, membership has increased from 10 to 25 members. A Kappa League Round-Up recruiting session is held each Fall and Spring for students interested in joining the Guide Right program at Florida Coastal School of Law. Students and parents are provided an application packet and information is presented about the program. Current and former Kappa League members and parents give a testimonial of their experience with the program. The applications are reviewed by the Guide Right committee; the student is contacted for an interview; and is granted admittance into the program if all criteria are met. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right program has once again partnered with Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and participates in a leadership workshop series entitled How To Lead Your Ship. These workshops include group activities, brainstorming exercises, group presentations for improving and enhancing the students leadership skills, and useful information about opportunities for college and higher education. The following is a list of activities the Kappa League members have been involved in or with: MLK, Jr. Breakfast; MLK, Jr. Parade; escorts in the Miss Delta Teen Pageant; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Annual Kappa Klassic Charity Golf Tournament; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Sunday of Hope church service; Adopt-a-Road Cleanup service project; recognized at Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Annual Public Meeting; various community service projects; Jacksonville University basketball games; Jax Sharks arena football games; December to Remember community event; socials; college tours; Delta Sigma Theta Career Day; Kappa League Kar Wash; Kappa League Mothers Day Breakfast; KappaJax cleanup project; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right/Kappa League Leadership Retreat; and the Adopt-a-Kappa Leaguer mentor program where an Alumni member is paired with a Kappa Leaguer to serve as their mentor. 4. Does the Chapter sponsor an undergraduate chapter? If so, name the undergraduate chapter and give a description of the chapters interaction with the chapter. Also include a statement on any financial support provided to the chapter.Attach a letter of support from the undergraduate chapter. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter sponsors three undergraduate chapters: the Delta Psi Edward Waters College; the Xi Lambda University of North Florida; and the Omicron Delta Jacksonville University. Together with the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter they comprise J.A.C.K.: Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas. The undergraduate chapter members are required to attend Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Business meetings to provide an update on any activities happening within their chapter and on their respective campuses. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter shows support by attending undergraduate socials/fundraisers and involving them in Jacksonville Alumni Chapter activities as well. Some examples are Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members attending undergraduate step shows; attending homecoming activities; attending NPHC Greek Skate Fest; co-hosting the Centennial Founders Day Observance; creating a partnership in community service activities such as participating in a Sickle Cell walk and Clara White Mission Feed the City Luncheon; participating jointly in the MLK, Jr. parade; attending undergraduate chapter meetings; and assisting with GLAD program presentations on their campuses. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter provides financial support to the undergraduates by providing their Chapter Insurance premium and assistance is also given to the chapters for registration, transportation
and housing to attend the 80th Grand Chapter Meeting, hosting the 60th Southern Province Council, 2010 C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference, and 2010 Southern Province Polemarchs and Advisors Retreat. Other means of financial support are made through the Undergraduate Book Stipend Essay Contest.The Delta Psi and Omicron Delta chapters are advised by Charles Malpress, Jr. and the Xi Lambda chapter is advised by Ronald McCauley. 5. Describe the Chapters involvement with programs of goals announced by the Grand Chapter and Province Council (include names of programs/goals). The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter was involved in the following programs/goals which specifically support Grand Board of Directors initiatives: The St. Jude Sunday of Hope and raised funds (approximately $10,000 over the last four years) for this initiative in partnership with two local churches; promoted and participated in Pepsi Refresh Kappa Kamp at Piney Woods initiative; sponsored a student to attend the Piney Woods Kappa Kamp; Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation donations; participating in Membership Intake and Orientation Program during Spring 2010, Fall 2010 and Spring 2011; Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentorship program to students at William M. Raines High School; iKare - International Kappa Action Relief Effort for Haiti by collecting goods in partnership with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members registering for Greek Diversity.com job board; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members contributing to UNCF Evening with the Stars text message donation initiative; Attendance at Grand Chapter Meetings, Southern Province Council Meetings, C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conferences, Polemarchs and Advisors Retreat, and attending the 2011 Centennial National Founders Day Observance. 6. Describe the Chapters involvement within the community. Identify activities under the following headings: a) political action; b) social action; c) scholarship support; d) community service; and e) contributions to charitable and non-profit organizations. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter continues to serve the needs of its surrounding community and the city of Jacksonville. The following is a list of activities of which the chapter has been involved: A) Political Action - Granted access to Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Fraternity House for 2010 U.S. Census taker training; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members attended various Jacksonville mayoral candidate forums. One financial brother is running for Mayor of the City. Several brothers are on the campaign staffs of other candidates in their individual capacities. The Chapter is sponsoring a mayoral forum on race relations. Another brother, the first African American to be president of the Jacksonville Bar Association is running for a seat on the Board of Governors. The Chapter has a brother on the Jacksonville City Council (Hon. Reginald Brown), and one on the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission (Comm. Cleveland Ferguson III). At our Public Meeting, some political figures were recognized including the council person whose district contains the schools the Chapter mentors at as well as the Chapters fraternity house. B) Social Action The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter assisted with hosting the Association of Fraternity Advisors Meeting, in which Charles Malpress was the chairman; NPHC Greek Skate Fest; Silhouette Christmas Social; Klean But FunQy Soiree w/ Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; NPHC Greek Recognition Day; December to Remember; MLK, Jr. Parade; MLK, Jr. Breakfast; host of NPHC Circle of Love; Alpha Phi Alpha Founders Day Mixer; Urban Education Symposium; Kappa Couples Night; Summer Soiree Under the Sun picnic; NPHC Greek Takeover social; Crimson and Kream Rendezvous w/ Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Man UP For Health Summit; Jacksonville Alumni Chapter members attending race relations forum. C) Scholarship Support Awarded $24,000 in scholarships as a result of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Annual Charity Golf Tournament; scholarships presented at Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Public Meeting; Undergraduate Book Stipend Essay Contest is offered based on writing skills on a contemporary topic. D) Community Service - Extreme Makeover: Home Edition-Clay County, Florida; Clara White Mission Feed the City Luncheon; Adopt-A-Road program; William M. Raines High School Mentorship Program; Sickle Cell Walk; December to Remember. E) Contributions to Charitable and Non-profit Organizations - YMCA; St. Judes Childrens Hospital; Clara White Mission; Boys and Girls Club of NE FL; Jack and Jill of America; Partnership with St. Paul Mis-
sionary Baptist Church drive for Haiti relief effort; One Church One Child of Florida; Jacksonville Urban League; UNCF and AKA Celebrity Men Who Cook proceeds; MLK, Jr. Foundation, Inc. 7. Describe the Chapters reclamation and retention efforts. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter has reclaimed and retained members primarily through the implementation of the Phi Nu Pi Klub. The program is broken down by age bracket: the Phi (ages 22-34); the Nu (ages 35 -49); and the Pi (ages 50 +) with a chairman for each group. Each group hosts events and gatherings as a means to reclaim members back into the Bond. Some past events have included: Centennial Founders Day Observance; Klean But FunQy Soiree; J5 Celebration, NFL Playoff socials, and the Crimson and Kream Rendezvous. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter also utilizes events with the local NPHC to reclaim members as well as at events such as the Circle of Love and Greek Recognition Day. Chapter Bylaws provide waiver of the first years local dues of a brother transitioning from to the Alumni Chapter. Another provision allows for any brother to petition to have is dues waived for one year due to hardship. These petitions are brought before the Board of Directors and ruled on a case-by-case basis. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter uses enhanced forms of communication by including notices and announcements via e-mail, telephone, and text messaging in addition to USPS mail communication. Another communication tool is The Krimson Scroll chapter newsletter which highlights the achievements and activities of chapter members and undergraduates. The chapter website [jacksonvillekappas.com] is used in this same fashion and has been updated to include a Brothers Only section which allows for payment of dues and information about various chapter activities. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter also incorporates the use of the local news media for more visibility within the community and motivating members to become active by posting the achievements of members on the home page of the website. Retention efforts are made by assigning members to committees and keeping them engaged once they affiliate with the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter. Examples are Golf Tournament; Housing Taskforce; Guide Right Kappa League; and Fundraising. As a result of these actions the membership has continued to increase. 8. As a member of the Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas (which includes the three undergraduate chapters) J.A.C.K. strives to positively impact the community. The Krimson Scroll documents that activity.

State of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter

The State of the Chapter was given on Thursday, September 16, 2010, in the presence of the members of the Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas, which includes: the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter, Delta Psi Chapter, Xi Lambda Chapter and Omicron Delta Chapter at 3717 Moncrief Road West, where the Jacksonville Alumni Chapters Fraternity House sits on 1.88+/- acres in the Citys Northside quadrant. Province Polemarch Range honored Brother Harper for his service to Kappa and the Jacksonville Community at the 2010 Public Meeting. GOAL #1 STRENGTHEN MEMBERSHIP Allow me to share a few thoughts about the State of the Chapter. RELATIONS
One year ago, on September 17, 2009, I pointed out that we were the 2009 Medium Chapter of the Year for the Southern Province and declared we would be the 2010 Chapter of the Year Large during the 60th Southern Province Council. In this Centennial year, we can reflect that 10 young men, who lived during a perilous time for Black men/Chose not to be limited by their surroundings/No doubt was lead to Isaiah 55:3 which in the New International Version states: Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with youSurely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you because of the LORD your Godfor he has endowed you with splendor. Lo! Nearly 100 years ago, they submitted the idea of this organization to Christian principles. They are a part of our rituals; indeed they are a part of our daily lives.

Mario Lundy is a native of Jacksonville, FL and has recently been reassigned to Ft. Benning in Columbus, GA for 1 year. He is a Fall 2008 initiate of the Omicron Delta chapter at Jacksonville University. I sat with him for a quick Q&A session about his military experience and journey in Kappa thus far before his departure.

I think the greatest lesson learned is leadership

Staff Sergeant Mario Lundy discusses being a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and his Military Service.
KS: How long have you been in the military and could you describe your current duties & responsibilities? MARIO LUNDY: I have been in the Army for nearly 20 years. My rank is E-6 and I am a Staff Sergeant of Basic Combat Training which basically means I am responsible for the welfare, training, & discipline of initial entry soldiers. I am accountable for physically fit, disciplined, and technically proficient soldiers. KS: What was your reason for joining the military? MARIO LUNDY: I was in the Navy JROTC in high school at Ed White. I just always wanted to be in the military because of my uncle & cousins. They were a big influence. KS: Could you talk about some of the most memorable places that you have been assigned and give your best & worst experience? MARIO LUNDY: My most memorable assignments are Ft. Drum in New York & Ft. Hood in Texas, which is where I spent most of my time training in Air Defense Artillery. The most memorable deployment has been when I was in Iraq. Ive been twice and the second time was the worst. We were constantly out & engaged with the enemy. Our objective was to train the Iraqi army and it was difficult trying to teach them U.S. methods of training. Their system runs from the Top > Down where as the U.S. runs from the Bottom>Up. Id have to say my worst experience was when my interpreter was shot in the head right beside me. KS: What is your proudest experience being in the military? MARIO LUNDY: I would say that my proudest experiences were receiving the U.S. Army Commendation Medal; 3 Army Achievement medals; the National Defense Service Medal; the Combat Action Badge; & the Iraqi Campaign Medal. Just to add, my proudest Iraqi experience was seeing the Iraqi peoples gratitude for simple basic needsespecially the children. Just seeing the expressions on their faces felt great. KS: What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being in the military? MARIO LUNDY: I think the greatest lesson learned is leadershiphaving young soldiers look up to you is a big deal. If you are a good leader, you can have folks that are willing to follow you anywhere. KS: What advice would you give to a young man interested in joining the military? MARIO LUNDY: Go to school firstits better to get an education before getting in the military. If you do opt for a career in the military, you have to go in with the mentality that you will have to be a follower before you can lead. You make it [experience], how you want to make it. Take your training seriouslythat is what helped me. Joining isnt badyou get to travel & experience things. Knowing how to be leader will affect you in some way. I was shy before moving up in the ranks. I was asked to teach and went on from therethey throw you right into it. KS:

Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Commemorates 85th Anniversary of Charter Day

The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter celebrated its charter, 85 years to the day, on Saturday, February 27th at Maggianos of Little Italy at the St. Johns Town Center at 6pm in Jacksonville, FL. This black tie affair was a time to reflect on the rich history & achievements of Jacksonville Alumni and its members since being granted its charter back in 1925. Recognition was given to Past Polemarchs, 50-Year members, and those that have entered Chapter Invisible. A slide show of historic chapter photos was presented while members enjoyed fine dining. Dr. Charles B. McIntosh, a 1944 Alpha Xi initiate, served as the keynote speaker and members were also given time to share their memories of the chapter. The event was capped off with a toast to the chapter led by Polemarch Cleveland Ferguson III, Esq. The Foundation Hosts Annual Kappa League Leadership Retreat

On the weekend of March 5th - 7th, the Jacksonville Alumni Guide Right Kappa League held its annual Kappa League Leadership Retreat weekend. Students spent the weekend at a campsite in Bethesda Park in Jacksonville involved in educational activities. Leading into the retreat, Kappa League members attended an etiquette session hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., at Florida State College of Jacksonville-North Campus on Thursday March 4th at 6pm. On Friday March 5th, Kappa Leaguers hosted a high school social on the Florida State College at Jacksonville campus from 9pm-12am. The career day portion took place on Saturday, March 6th at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville. Presentations were given from
Career Planning101. A special guest panel of college students was on hand to give their perspective and advice about the college experience. Helpful tips about standardized testing, maintaining grades, & accumulating community service hours were provided.

Jacksonville Hosts FL Spring Cluster & Welcomes New Members

On the weekend of March 12th-13th, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter hosted chapters from within the state of Florida as they participated in the Membership Intake Cluster in Jacksonville. Southern Province MOIP Chairman Julius B. Paden and his team led the weekend sessions. A welcome social took place at the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Fraternity House. The Closed Banquet was held in Wilbur Holsey Hall at All People International Church. Dr. Herman Miller, a 1968 Alpha Xi initiate, was the keynote speaker. Special guests included National MOIP Chairman John F. Burrell; 91st Elder Watson Diggs Awardee & 7th Southern Province Polemarch Dr. Frank S. Emanuel; & Southern Province Polemarch Ronald E. Range. Musical selections were provided by John Peasant, Jr. Jacksonville Alumni also welcomed two new members: Leon Brown, Jr.
The Jacksonville Alumni Guide Right Kappa League attended a college tour sponsored by Jack & Jill of America, Inc., on Thursday, April 1st. This was a segment of the How to Lead Your Ship workshop series and required attendance at previous leadership workshops for eligibility to go on the tour. The students were taken to Tallahassee, Florida, and visited the campus of Florida A&M University. They were guided around the campus and learned about the degree programs available and given a brief history about the school. The students then took a tour of the State Capitol building and participated in a mock voting session. An added treat was a special conference call from Senator Tony Hill. The day wrapped up with lunch at Florida State University and a tour of the campus. Kappa Leaguers met up with members of the Theta Eta chapter who provided advice about scholarships & grants for those looking to enroll in college. Jacksonville Alumni Celebrates New Members with Delta Sigma Theta

On Monday, May 10th, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter hosted a joint celebration of its newest members [Fall 2009 & Spring GOAL 2010] along with the local graduate chapter of Delta Sigma Thetas Spring 2010 members #2 at Square One from 6pm-2am. This collaboration known IN THE INVEST as the Crimson & Kream Rendezvous brought members together in JACKSONVILLE the historic San Marco area of Jacksonville, FL to enjoy a night of live music, dancing, COMMUNITY & fellowship. This was also a celebration of Jacksonville Alumni receiving Southern Province Chapter of the Year [Large] honors. The celebration included cake, champagne, & gifts were given to the new members. The Band of Destiny and DJ Dr. Doom provided the musical entertainment for the evening.
Jacksonville Guide Right Kappa League Host Annual Mothers Day Breakfast
The Jacksonville Alumni Guide Right Kappa League hosted the 2nd Annual Mothers Day Breakfast on Saturday, May 8th at 9am at the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Fraternity House in Jacksonville. Kappa League members served their mothers breakfast and catered to them for the day. Special words of love & appreciation were expressed by each Kappa Leaguer toward their mother. Kappa League President-Elect Brion Eason was awarded a desktop computer donated by Stein Mart, Inc., for having the highest GPA for the quarter. Gifts were then given to the mothers and they were given the opportunity to reflect on the day.

A segment on Manners was presented followed by an open Q&A session about the influence of music in todays society. Students were awarded with a certifiGOAL cate, gift card, and book entitled Letters to #3 a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny for their attendance of the workshop series. SUPPORT GUIDE Immediately following the workshop the final Kappa League meeting of the year took place RIGHT - KAPPA at the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Fraternity LEAGUE House and 4 new members took part in the induction ceremony.
Holds Kar Wash Fundraiser

On Saturday, May 22nd from 9am-1pm, members of the Jacksonville Guide Right Kappa League held a car wash at the law office of Atty. Reginald Luster in Jacksonville, FL. Members of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter assisted in the car washing duties. The Kappa League members work to raise funds for the upcoming school year. Jacksonville Alumni members, Silhouettes, family, & friends came out to show support by having their vehicles washed. The Kappa Leaguers washed approximately 20 vehicles and enjoyed the day while providing this service to the Jacksonville community.

On Saturday, June 26th, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter held its final Business meeting of the year at 8:30am at their Fraternity House in Jacksonville, FL. 2010-2011 officers were installed and recognition was given to Guide Right Kappa League & Undergraduate Chapter graduates. 50 Year members were also recognized. The 50 Year members provided words of wisdom to the graduating Kappa Leaguers. The meeting was immediately followed by a KappaJax service project on the Fraternity House property. This project included maintenance on the interior & exterior of house and the upkeep of the property grounds.

On Friday, August 20th at 8pm, Jacksonville Alumni members & Silhouettes attended the Cedric the Entertainer comedy show at the Times-Union Center in Jacksonville, FL. Members & Silhouettes enjoyed each others company as the comedians entertained them for the evening. Immediately following the comedy show members were treated to a meet & greet with Cedric. Photos were taken as Cedric greeted everyone. Chapter officers presented him with a resolution of his achievements and a commemorative lapel pin in recognition of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapters 85th Anniversary. Jacksonville Alumni members Julius B. Paden, Julius Collins, Polemarch Cleveland Ferguson III, Tommy Chandler, Vice Polemarch Dennis Gamble, & Dr. William Cody MLK, Jr. Parade committees. Smith received a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Florida State University and a J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law. He recently opened up the Law Offices of Stephen A. He is a past Polemarch, Historian, and current Conference; & the Suwannee North District in the East Florida Conference from which he is retiring. Rev. Mitchell is the 24th President of Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL and the recipient of numerous accolades for his dedicated service to the North Florida community through various organizations.

So I knew on September 17, 2009, that implicit in my declaration that we would be Chapter of the Year in 2010, the agenda of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., had to be in accordance with Gods word. And that, my brothers, is what assures Achievementindividual and collectivethat if our worksif our effortsline up with Gods word, they will not return void. And so it is! <Chapter of the Year Plaque is displayed>Give yourselves a hand. This fraternal year, as we conclude our celebration of 85 Years of Service we embrace this awesome space in time, where we are so fortunate to tap into that unique milestone in Human History to live, to celebrate a Centennial. All across the world, Kappas and their supporters will reflect on what it means for this organization that both individually and collectively have made such an impact on the course of human events: whether it was opening doors to an elitist sport or a racist industry, whether it was occurring nationally or right here in Heming Plaza, Kappas were making a difference in the lives of those around them and those that were coming after them.

We increased our scholarships during a time of recession under Brothers Miller, Cody, Parker, Moore, and Jones. We increased our innovativeness in fundraising with reinvigorating our partnerships under Brothers Armstrong and Mumford. We increased our standing in the fraternity at large under Brother Emanuel. We increased our undergraduate contact under Brothers Malpress and McCauley. We increased our interaction with the Kappa League under Brothers Gamble and Campbell. We have increased our presence in the overall community under Brother Collins.

And so our Grand Polemarch who is finishing his second term, has identified the national theme of Creating Inspiration a Call to Service. And since 1969, under the direction of Past Grand Polemarch C. Rodger Wilson, we have addressed that call through Guide Right as the guiding principle in how we carry ourselves in every sphere of influence, through mentorship, and most particularly through Kappa League. These young men are the lifeline of our continuing to have a seat at the table of decision-making long after President Barack Obama has left office. Under the leadership of Vice Polemarch Gamble, we will step up our emphasis on public service projects and leadership development. We ask that when you see the notice go out requesting that you stop by the next Kappa League meeting and give them the benefit of your wisdom for 10 or 15 minutes, please have a mindset to answer the call. We want to improve the number of contact hours we have with these enterprising young men who aspire to be where you are today with as many of us who are available. Even as we respect and learn from our past and look ahead to our future through the Guide Right program and other mentorship efforts, it is time for us to enjoy the present, to give flowers to our brothers while they are still with us, to occasionally pat ourselves on the back, and enjoy what it means to be professionals who have the ability to dedicate our time and our talent

Grand Polemarch Conducts Listening Tour and Helps Jacksonville Alumni Celebrate 85 Years
On March 19, 2010, Dwayne M. Murray, Esq., the 31st Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Senior Kappas, 50 Year Members, and members of the Guide Right Kappa League program of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter came together in celebration of the Chapters 85th GOAL Charter #1 Day YearLong AnSTRENGTHEN niversary. MEMBERSHIP Chartered on February RELATIONS 27, 1925, the Chapter has engaged in a variety of activities throughout the year to commemorate being the oldest African American community service organization in Florida. In addition to hosting the Grand Polemarch, Jacksonville Alumni arranged a Listening Tour session with its Senior Kappas. Members who were initiated as far back as 1944 (Brother C.B. McIntosh) and 1948 (Brother William Surcey, also a Tuskegee Airman) along with members who just turned 60 years old, all regaled the Grand Polemarch with days of yore as well as new initiatives they would like to see the Grand GOAL Polemarch consider. More than two dozen Senior Kappas participated in this event. #3
SUPPORT in The Chapter then sponsored a banquet GUIDE honor of the Grand Polemarch where the RIGHT - KAPPA Jacksonville Silhouettes and members of the LEAGUE Guide Right Kappa League program joined the brothers. Members of the Guide Right Kappa League program made a presentation to the Grand Polemarch. Next the Grand Polemarch was presented with Jacksonville Alumnis 85th Charter Day Anniversary Pin. Jacksonville Alumni Kappa League Perform Clean Up Service Project

On Saturday, September 21st, the Jacksonville Alumni Guide Right Kappa League performed a road cleanup service project in Jacksonville, FL. The community service project was done on a road that the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter was granted through the Adopt-a-Road program with the city of Jacksonville. The chapters designated road runs down Moncrief Road from Edgewood Avenue to Winton Dr. right in front of the chapters fraternity house. Kappa League members and the Guide Right advisory team picked up trash & debris along the road under the direction of the Polemarch Chief of Staff Paul Fenning. This community service project will go towards the Kappa League members school community service hours.

Dennis Gamble Leads Fidelity National Unit Dennis Gamble was named Shift Manager of Fidelity National Information Services, in Jacksonville, Florida. He is one of three key leaders that ensures operations run smoothly. This is his third promotion in as many years. Gamble served as the 35th Polemarch of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter.

He is published in a variety of journals and is the author of a state constitutional law textbook due out in 2011. His scholarship has been used and cited by courts in election law cases and by judges and scholars in constitutional law and international law. He is the first African American to be promoted to the rank of full professor and be conferred tenure at Florida Coastal having achieved both in 2009. The students at Florida Coastal recognized him with the 2010 Faculty Vision Award Recipient (Professor of the Year). In practice, he specializes in economic development, grant-writing, regulatory policy, and state constitutional law. He has been an accomplished executive director, board member and/or general counsel for a variety of organizations. Currently, he serves as the Vice Chair of the American Bar Association International Human Rights Committee where he is Chairman of Publications and Committee Editor of the Year in Review for The International Lawyer. The Florida Bar Board of Governors appointed him to the Board of Directors of Florida Legal Services, Inc., in 2008.

The Jacksonville Area Coalition of Kappas ( J.A.C.K.) made up of the three undergraduate chapters and the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter made the most of the 16 hour travel time to and from the Southern Province C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference. The chapters held a strategic planning session on ways in which J.A.C.K. could increase its social action programs during the semester. When they arrived at the Conference, they participated in all of the workshops together, joined the 100 Nupes Choir, and tailgated after the Conference. he Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Guide Right Scholarship & Development Foundation, Inc., (d/b/a Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation - Jacksonville) has hosted sixteen Annual Charity Golf Tournaments throughout the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area (M.S.A.) Since the organizations chartering in Jacksonville in 1925, the Chapter has mentored youth and performed service throughout the community. Since 1994, through its Foundation, the Chapter has hosted a Charity Golf Tournament to assist qualified students in pursuing postsecondary and graduate degrees. Led by Rev. Dr. Carlton D. Historically, the tournament participation has ranged from 120 to 144 golfers. The 17th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Deercreek Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida on March 19, 2011. The price per person ($100) includes green and other applicable fees, oncourse contests, range balls, and dinner. Mulligans are limited to two (2) per player. They may be purchased at the registration desk. Rae tickets and opportunities to bid in a silent auction will be available throughout the day. Check-in begins at 11am. Finally, in partnership with the William and Betty Cody Foundation, the Dr. Caroline A. Cody Memorial Scholarship is awarded. In 2010, three Memorial scholarships were awarded. This years scholars are outlined on the previous page. The members of the Jacksonville Kappa League were given special recognition including its executive board. The Kappa League Guide Right program was established fraternity-wide over 30 years ago, as the primary program that Alumni Chapters use to mentor young people in their communities. Since the programs inception, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has helped young adolescent African American males develop and improve their leadership through the Guide Right Program. This program uses educational and inspirational techniques to promote academic success, career GOAL preparedness and life skills. Overall, the programs aim is to develop fu#2 ture leaders of tomorrow.

The program emphasizes several aspects of leadership development, teamwork and community trusteeship. JACKSONVILLE Activities range from car washes to church visits, from COMMUNITY road cleanups to business skill workshops, from community presentations to the annual Leadership Development Conference. Through these activities, under the leadership of Guide Right Chairman Dennis Gamble, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter assists youth in fostering a positive self-image that rest upon sound ethics and values. Over past five years, recent participants of the program have demonstrated excellence in the community and have become role models amongst their peers. Thousands of scholarships dollars have been funneled to their disposal to reach higher heights in their educational field. This trend has continued with youth that are in the program today. They are inspired to become future lawyers, businessmen, culinary artists and law enforcement. Therefore, the Guide Right/Kappa League Program has a consistent track record of producing youth reaching their full potential thats second to none. For the last two years, the Foundation has sponsored participation in a Jack and Jill Foundation grant focused on leadership development. Workshops and events are held throughout the state of Florida culminating in a Chapter wide leadership development weekend at Florida Coastal School of Law.

The Honorable Henry Lee Adams, Jr., a graduate of Matthew W. Gilbert Sr. High School, graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in Political Science and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law. In 1979, Judge Adams became the rst African American circuit court judge in the Fourth Judicial Circuit and in 1993, he became the rst African American U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. This year, Judge Adams is taking Senior Status and we recognize him for his lifetime achievement.
Tony Bellamy started his career as an elementary school teacher and then relocated to Duval County as the chorus director at Englewood High School. In the past twelve years, he has served Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School as Assistant Principal for Student Services, Vice Principal of Curriculum and nally Principal. He also served as Principal of First Coast High School before becoming the Executive Director of Turnaround Middle Schools. He is currently the Executive Director of Turnaround High Schools.

Dr. Richard Danford (not pictured) has served as the President/CEO of the Jacksonville Urban League (JUL) since 1992. Under his leadership, the JUL has made numerous strides, including helping to jumpstart the revitalization of the Historic La Villa area of Jacksonville; completing the build out of an inner-city incubator for several start-up businesses, including the LaVilla Grill; and the successful acquisition and management of the Head Start Program, serving over 2000 children and their families.

He served as a member of Georgia/Florida Football Ofcials, for 22 years, National Alliance of Postal Employees, serving 10 years as its president and spent 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Reese Marshall, Esq., (not pictured) was initiated into Alpha Iota Chapter at Morgan State University in 1960. He graduated from Howard University School of Law and was admitted to practice in Florida in 1967. He served as President of the D.W. Perkins Bar Association as well as the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association. He practices law in the areas of probate and personal injury. Brothers Harper and Marshall are being honored as 50 Year members of the Fraternity. The Honorable Brenda A. Priestly Jackson (not pictured) is the current Chairwoman of the Duval County School Board. She was initially elected to the GOAL school board in 2002 and reelected in 2006. As CEO of the Renaissance Design Build Group, Managing Partner of the Gateway Town Center, Sire Archon-Elect of the Gamma Beta Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and as President of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc., his impact is felt widely throughout the Jacksonville Community. He was recently inducted into the Florida Council on Economic Educations First Coast Business Hall of Fame. He is sponsoring a Foundation scholarship.
Linda M. Lanier is the Executive Director/CEO of the Jacksonville Childrens Commission (JCC), a department of the City of Jacksonville and one of eight fundGOAL ed childrens services councils in Florida. The Commission serves the northeast #2 Florida community of almost 900,000 people by funding prevention and early interINVEST IN THE vention programs for children and their families. Dr. Herman Miller, Jr., is a graduate of Northwestern High School. He is a licensed pharmacist, an Associate Professor of Pharmacy at Florida A&M University, and is a practicing physician. He is the 30th Polemarch of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter, and is being honored for his philanthropic efforts as Vice President of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation - Jacksonville. Curtis W. Miranda, a graduate of Matthew W. Gilbert Sr. High School, led its football team to undefeated seasons in 1954 and 1956. While at Florida A&M University, he earned All Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorees and the Associated Press All American Team honors during the 1959, 1960, and 1961 football seasons. In 1961, he was drafted in the National Football League. In 1995 he received FAMUs Distinguished Alumni Award. In 1996, he was inducted into the Jacksonville Sports Hall of Fame. He was selected as one of the 100 Greatest Athletes of the 20th Century in the Jacksonville area. His jersey number, 53, was retired at FAMU in 2003. Tonight he receives the Heritage Award. Allen L. Moore, Sr., is the 33rd and 36th Polemarch of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter. This year, he has chaired six different committees of the Chapter, and exceeded the goals set for each committee action. He is a Soil Scientist by profession and shares his knowledge through mentoring students. He is being honored this year as Jacksonville Alumnis Man of the Year for his outstanding example of servant leadership and service to the community. David A. Smith is the former CEO of PSS World Medical, Inc., and is the current Chairman of Florida Tax Watch. A well-known community leader and philanthropist, he was recently inducted into the Florida Council on Economic Educations First Coast Business Hall of Fame. He is also being honored as a longstanding supporter of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psis Annual Charity Golf Tournament, serving as a major sponsor.

On Saturday, October 23rd at 12pm the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter performed their Fall KappaJax clean-up project at their fraternity house property in Jacksonville, FL. A picnic immediately followed. Chairman Mark Chapman III organized members in teams to tackle maintenance on the interior & exterior of the fraternity house and attention was focused on painting, cleaning, electrical work, and redesigning the layout of the house. Ken Boston & Dennis Gamble led the effort on the grill and displayed their cooking expertise for the chapter picnic. Members worked on the preservation of the historic Jacksonville Kappa House and then came together to fellowship in the Bond at the chapter picnic. On Friday, November 12th, Mathis Daniel, Jr., was inducted into the Allen University Athletic Hall of Fame on the schools campus in Columbia, South Carolina. Daniel, a 1989 Jacksonville Alumni initiate, is a retired coach and Athletic Director of Ribault Middle & Northwestern Middle School in Jacksonville, FL. He was a standout in baseball and a member of several Allen University championship baseball teams. If Jacksonville Alumni is to honor the recognition of Chapter of the Year - Large for 2010, then we must lead the way in remaining 100% accountable to the Constitution, Statutes, rules and directives set forth.

It had to establish a standard, a set of rules, and it had to charge each member not merely with holding an ideal in ones mind, but high ideals, for they knew that in order to achieve both in college and subsequent life, a place of usefulness and honor in the world, we had to be professionals. We know that the Southern Province Polemarch does not provide individual warnings to chapters time and time again about their delinquency. the constitution and statutes of Kappa Alpha Psi and any directives from the Grand Board of Directors. During the Southern Province Council, when the Southern Province Polemarch states in the State of the Province that he wants us to go from Good to Great, he points out the elements of the Province that inhibit the Province from achieving this goal: delinquent officer reports, failure to pay chapter insurance, failure to pay Council or CRWLC registrations, failure of local MOIP Chairmen to meet stated deadlines. There are penalties associated with failing to comply with the rules of Kappa Alpha Psi-namely late fees that contribute to the Province Polemarchs Scholarship Fund,

and worse, Chapter suspensions, etc. The Province Polemarch has reminded us, that these are matters that every member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., are charged with being aware of. And, if not, several opportunities to learn are provided: the Polemarch and Advisors Retreat, CRWLC, Province Council, the Executive Directors Bulletin, the Confidential Bulletinno member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has an excuse not to know what is required of him or his chapter! Brothers are getting caught for not having paid their housing assessment as they are attempting to register for the 80th Grand Chapter Meeting. Whether a brother has ignored his responsibility or is just now coming back to the Bond in time for the Centennialwhatever the caseKappa Alpha Psi is requiring that brothers honor the commitment made at the Sacred Delphic Shrine. This ensures that IHQ and the elected leadership is in the best position to manage risk, attract contributions from corporate partners, and edify the conversation by being socially and politically relevant, such that when we perform community service, or happen to be spotted with our letters, our gaze is met with a recognition of respectfor our achievements arent superficialthey are consistent. We cannot wag our fingers about what the community needs to do or how politicians need to deliver and our commitment to our chapter is superficialwe are not financial, we create risks for the province, The Grand Chapter will be hurt by local chapter members merely settling for good. Whats more, settling for less-than-great in all that we do may put the local chapter and the brothers who lead the organization at risk. Brotherhood within oneself should demand it. Fidelity requires it. The law will enforce it. We train for leadership and we strive to achieve in every field of human endeavor. I pray that all brothers Come Home to Kappa, and, in the Southern Province, we help the 8th Southern Province Polemarch take us from Good to Great by being timely, financial, and compliant with the Constitution and Statutes of Kappa Alpha Psi. Kappa is blessed by the doers, not merely the hearers (or the repeaters of the words).
We understand that the ideal of and love for this fraternity would not carry kaY through 100 years alone. it had to be organized.

Surely we understand that the Fraternityan organization that we profess to love so muchmarries the ideal of being a member with the practicality of following the Constitution and Statutesmaking sure brothers are affiliated and financial with local chapters, making sure the officers of local chapters are in compliance with the province, and assisting the Province Polemarch with ensuring the province is in compliance with Grand Board directives.
This will not happen to the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter on my watch. Organizational sustainability requires that we build on the successes of previous administrations, such as how the 8th Southern Province Polemarch built on the successes of the 7th Southern Province Polemarch and continues to strive to take us from Good to Great. This requires brothers to translate their love for the fraternity into practical sense.

In addition to recognizing the Tournaments top finishers, contests will be held for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin as well as Hole-in-One Prizes at all Par 3s. Donated items will be auctioned during the awards dinner. Since the organizations chartering in Jacksonville in 1925, the Chapter has mentored youth and performed service throughout the community. Since 1994, through its Foundation, the Chapter has hosted a Charity Golf Tournament to assist qualified students in pursuing post-secondary and graduate degrees. The national fraternity is celebrating its Centennial. Last year, the organization awarded twelve scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each, bringing the total amount of scholarship awarded to over $174,000. We are pleased to announce that the 2011 Title Sponsor for this Charity Golf Tournament is the McDonalds Cooperative. Since 2008, the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter has hosted the scholarship presentation at City Hall in Jacksonville, Florida at its Public Meeting.

Application Cover Letter
Thank you for your interest in applying for admission to the Guide Right/Kappa League Program, sponsored by Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Guide Right/Kappa League is one of the areas most successful mentorship programs for young men that focus on higher education, financial responsibility, and development of a positive self image resting upon sound ethics and values. Also, mentees in the program will gain knowledge of impeccable social and business skills, time management skills, and leadership abilities. The Guide Right/Kappa League Program insists that all applicants submit a completed Kappa League Program Admission Application along with all requested documents and items to the address provided below by the requested deadline. All applicants should meet the following academic requirements set forth for consideration of admission into the Guide Right/Kappa League Program: The applicant must be in good academic standing and currently enrolled in middle school or high school (grades 6th 12th) or will be enrolled for the upcoming school year. The applicant must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. (An appeal of the grade point average threshold is determined by advisors of the Guide Right/Kappa League Program).
Each applicant must also complete the Kappa League interview process after mailing his completed application packet. The applicant will be notified via phone within 72 hours upon receiving his application of his scheduled interview date and time. (*If an applicant has not obtained his outside community recommendation letter by the date of his interview, the applicant will still be allowed to interview. However, the applicant must submit the recommendation letter within (7) days from the date of his interview for full consideration of admission to the program). Applicant may mail his past due documents to the following address: Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right Leadership & Development League Program P.O. Box 40625 Jacksonville, FL 32203 On the day of the interview, each applicant will be required to complete the entire thirty minute interview process and must be prepared to stay for the entire time. Applicants should arrive 15 minutes before the interview starts. Each applicant is also required to wear dress slacks, a dress shirt, and a tie for the interview. Only successful applicants selected for entry to the Kappa League program will be notified via US mail, within two weeks from the date of their interview. At the time of this notification, the successful candidate will be informed as to when he is required to attend his first Kappa League meeting. As an active participant in the How to Lead Your Ship Leadership Workshop Series, the Jacksonville Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. now invites you to join us on the How to Lead Your Ship 2011 College Road Trip. This is our version of College Prep & Career Planning ...in action!
The College Admissions 101 workshop will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 10AM to 12 Noon at Andrew Jackson High School. This interactive workshop will include guest speakers and a panel of college students who will be available for a Q&A session. Please note that attendance at the workshop is mandatory for those planning to attend the College Road Trip. The 2011 College Road Trip is scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2011 (Tentative departure time is 7:30AM and tentative return time is 7PM ). Participants will travel by charter bus from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach to visit the campus of Bethune-Cookman University, and then on to Orlando to visit The University of Central Florida. Lunch and Snacks will be provided for all students. The 2011 College Road Trip is being funded by the Jacqueline Robinson Regional Competition Grant of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation. There is no cost for students participating in the College Road Trip! If you plan to attend, please read this package with your parent(s) and return the completed forms to your program sponsor no later than Friday, March 4, 2011. Dear Brother Grand Polemarch, Our National Project Team under the Pepsi Refresh Project has been engaged and focused since January of 2010. In November, we placed 11th. In December, we placed 8th; and in January, we finished in 11th place. At one point, there was a glimmer of hope for December as Pepsi had the top two winners in the $250K category under investigation for activities contrary to the project rules and guidelines. In the final analysis, I was informed just today that we officially failed to win the $250K grant from December after an internal investigation by Pepsi. In spite of this revelation, the Project Team mobilized our beloved Kappa Alpha Psi. We did our level best to follow your directive to offer motivation and excitement! Many of our Brothers were truly motivated and brought a can do attitude to the forefront. We forged new and positive relationships in quarters where we would not normally tread. I am equally proud of our Kappa Kamp Face Book page that had a high of 1,085 registrants! Winning this grant was a steady objective for us. It was emblazoned on our masthead and in our constant cry WIN FOR PINEY WOODS! For this, I am eternally grateful to all who joined in our cause. I am proud of how our Project Team served in a steadfast and coordinated manner. The Project Team, comprised of Brothers from Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, Washington State, Nevada, and California, were highly competent, decidedly determined, and substantial in their technical abilities. The many rapid responses in coordinating our national base of brothers, family members, and corporate friends, was not only unprecedented, but impressive in my view. The early and most recent hurdles that we faced did not deter the Project Teams focus or zeal in maintaining Kappa integrity. As we challenged each others strategy, we constantly exhibited the altruism that we were founded on. The upbeat character and commitment to the cause clearly indicated to me that these Brothers were indeed legacies of the 10 - Kappa Men! As I have mentioned many times, I offer kudos to you for your seemingly tireless effort in energizing not only our beloved Bond, but other organizations. Although I was concerned with your overexposure, you were relentless and focused. In spite of your busy schedule, you took the time to offer solid suggestions when needed and listened when we needed a shoulder. Brother Grand Polemarch, on behalf of the team, THANK YOU! We will never forget our experience with you. The 31st Administration, inclusive of the Kappa Foundation and its Board of Directors, the Grand Board, the Province Polemarchs, the IHQ staff, in particular Brother Andre Early, all made their marks all positive and up tempo marks! We commend you all! I also would like to cite the hard work of our Undergraduate Brothers, led by KJ Smith our Junior Grand Vice-Polemarch, and Derrick Christian our Undergraduate Member on the Grand Board and Assistant Editor of The Kappa Journal. These two brothers brought to bear their leadership skills and exuded charisma by mobilizing a nation of Undergraduate and Alumni Kappa Men. I am compelled to acknowledge the Delta Delta (SWP), on the campus of Jackson State University (JSU), and Mississippis Premier Chapter, the Jackson Alumni Chapter (SWP) for their stellar efforts. The Delta Delta, led by Polemarch Bryan R. Fisher, was responsible for producing and directing the national NPHC video that depicted the presidents of each of the Divine Nine on the campus of JSU expressing their support for our Kappa Kamp. This video mobilized each of the national organizations to our cause and was ultimately launched on the NPHC national headquarters website and posted on many Face Book and organizational web site pages. The video depicted Greek Unity at its best for a great cause our cause. It also depicted the quality of the Divine Nine on the campus of JSU as each president of each organization was interviewed and offered a statement in support of Kappa Kamp. This was an unprecedented effort steered by our Brothers of the Delta Delta! I have found that the Jackson Alumni Chapter (JAC) operates at an above optimum level. Under the leadership of Polemarch Demond L. Spann, the chapter maintains an outstanding working relationship with the Delta Delta and within the Jackson community. Brother Marc A. Colomb serves as the Keeper of Records and Delta Deltas Chapter Advisor. We appreciate their leadership and solid relationship with the Delta Delta. I am proud to say that this is a model relationship one for all of us to emulate! Brother James A. Reed, the immediate Past Polemarch of the JAC served as the Pepsi Refresh Project Mississippi State Coordinator. sincerely appreciated the Mississippi contingents involvement in this project! A listing of our Project Team members and the associate groups are attached for your records. A special commendation is directed to our membership, their families, our friends, and corporate partners. Without them, we would not have placed the way we did. They kept us relevant in this campaign. A personal THANK YOU to all who participated and tried to make a difference in this campaign. As you know, I have been involved with the Pepsi Refresh Project since January of 2010. I have put on hold a number of other projects and informed others that I could not, at least at that time, participate in any other activities. For those who know me, once I am engaged with a project, I am totally committed. Well, after 12 months, I have decided to disengage from the project as National Project Director of the Pepsi Refresh Project. As I have been tapped to serve on Governor Jerry Browns transition team, I will no longer be able to devote the kind of time and effort necessary to coordinate the national campaign. Although I leave this project with a heavy heart knowing that under my stewardship as National Project Director, we failed to meet our goal of securing funds for the Piney Woods School, I am confident that the functional working infrastructure that we created for this project can endure if our leadership so chooses to allow it to continue. Now, because of their intimate knowledge of this project and its strategies, I recommend that Brother Elbert Brooks, Brother Cleveland Ferguson, and Brother Josephfer Williams be appointed in the interim as Tri-Project Directors. I will be debriefing these three Brothers within the next two weeks. An after action report is forthcoming that will identify the positive assets as well as our operational gaps. This report will be made available to our Project Team and to you, Brother Croom and Brother Brooks. Finally, as I reflect on the everlasting words of the 5th Grand Polemarch, Kappa Alpha Psi was founded so that we could basis of our founding, to educate ourselves so that we can lift a people, I leave this project with high hopes for our fraternal future. None of us can afford to sit on our accomplishments. Our Bond is strong as it has endured the test of time!
