Advanced Diploma of Marketing


This course has a strategic focus in applying marketing concepts through industry projects. You will gain practical, hands on experience in marketing, preparing you for a management position. Units from this course will give you credit towards business degrees in all South Australian Universities. STUDY OPTIONS/PATHWAYS Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Marketing allows progression to the Diploma of Marketing. Successful completion of the Diploma of Marketing allows progression to the Advanced Diploma of Marketing. Articulation arrangements are in place for students wishing to do further study with the University of South Australia or the University of Adelaide, Dual Award arrangements are also in place with Flinders University for students undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Advanced Diploma of Marketing appropriate for a Sales and Marketing Manager, National Sales and Marketing Manager, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager. AIM OF THE COURSE All courses are designed to provide vocational outcomes and/or educational pathways for graduates in each qualification. COURSE DELIVERY Courses are offered each semester, day, part-time, full-time, classroom based or online external delivery. This course may be taken in conjunction with the Advanced Diploma of Advertising or the Advanced Diploma of Business to obtain a duel qualification. LENGTH Each award course runs for 6 months full-time study or part-time equivalent. Nominal hours may vary depending upon elective units studied. Approximate nominal hours are: Advanced Diploma of Marketing 420 460 hours ENTRY REQUIREMENTS The Minimum entry requirements for Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses are: Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent) Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 1 (or equivalent) and 1 year full time equivalent work experience in any area Any Certificate II in same area Any Certificate III Satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS)

ASSESSMENT Units of competency have various assessment criteria including presentations, assignments, reports, workplace simulations and supervised assessments. TAFE SA takes into account any special needs of students so special consideration can be negotiated. AUSTUDY/ABSTUDY/ YOUTH ALLOWANCE This allowance may be approved if this course is taken full-time. Further information is available from Centrelink and/or Client Services. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING Prior to enrolment in the course students will be given information in relation to recognition of prior learning and credit transfer arrangements to determine advanced standing. FEES These courses are offered under a governmentsubsidised rate. Tuition fee for 2011 is $3.35 per nominal/curriculum hour. Fee Capping applies to tuition and skills recognition fees under the government-subsidised rate. 2011 fees are capped at $2210 for two consecutive semesters. Additional costs include stationery and recommended textbooks. Concession rates apply to any student who holds a current Health Care Card, Pensioners Card, Veterans Affairs Concession Card or are a prisoner in a South Australian correctional institution. Concession students will pay $1.35 per curriculum hour of study. Applications for the payment of fees-by-instalments are available to students.
