Admission Procedure for

M. A./ M. Sc.(Mathematics) M. Tech.(Industrial Mathematics with Computer Applications)

General Information:

The admissions are and will be done in accordance with the Ordinance No. 181 (Ordinance for admissions of students to the Post-Graduate courses in the University Departments/ Institutions) This entrance is specifically conducted for admission to Full time courses [M. A. / M. Sc. (Mathematics) and M. Tech. (Industrial Mathematics with Computer Applications)] conducted at Department of Mathematics University of Pune only. 50% seats of the overall sanctioned intake capacity are reserved for reserved category students from the Maharashtra State. Reservation is applicable only for Maharashtra domicile SC, ST, DT, NT, OBC, SBC categories as per Govt. of Maharashtra G.R. and 3% for PH. Non-creamy layer certificate is necessary for DT/NT/OBC/SBC category candidates at the time of final admissions. If you are a domicile of state of Maharashtra then you should submit the domicile certificate. Students are advised to follow the instructions about the admission process/round posted on the website of the department http://math.unipune.ac.in only and any other information may not be entertained on the Dept. office telephone. If a candidate wishes to apply for both the courses M. A. / M. Sc. and M. Tech., he/she should send only ONE APPLICATION mentioning both the courses with necessary documents and fees and the entrance examination will be common for both the courses. The Candidate should appear for entrance examination on the selected center on 5thJune 2011 at 10 am. Merit list for M.A. / M.Sc. (Mathematics) and M. Tech. (Industrial Mathematics with Computer Applications) course will be prepared on the basis as described below: 1. Pune University candidates: 50% Entrance marks + 50% Qualifying Examination marks. 2. All other candidates: Purely on Entrance marks. The list of candidates to be called for admission rounds will be posted on Department website. No other communication will be done. Students are advised to bring admit cards with VALID ID proofs for entrance examination.

Required documents (Attested true copies):

Statement of marks of every year / semester (SSC/HSC/First/Second/Final year) of the qualifying examination. Transference / leaving certificate of previously attended educational institution. Migration certificate of previously attended University (in case of candidate passing qualifying examination from University other than Pune University). Reserved Category Certificate from the competent authority (applicable to candidate belonging to reserved category). Non-creamy layer certificate is necessary for DT/NT/OBC /SBC category candidates at the time of final admissions. Birth Certificate For the candidates having physical disability attested true copy of minimum 40% physical disability certificate from competent authority (District Civil Surgeon). Domicile Certificate for state of Maharashtra candidates.

Complex Analysis:-Complex Numbers, Analytic Functions, Cauchys Theorem & Cauchys Integral Formula, Liouvilles Theorem, Fundamental Theorem of Algebra. Differential Equations:-Linear Diff. Equations with constant Coefficient, with Variable Coefficients. Linear Algebra:-:- Vector Spaces, Basis, Quotient Spaces, Linear Transforms, Matrix Algebra, Eigenvalues & Eigenvectors , Diagonalization, Caley Hamilton Theorem.

Increase in the fees will be applicable with respect to the University Circular/s (Old/New). Fees must be paid at the time of admission by DD of a nationalized bank to be drawn in favor of The Registrar, University of Pune payable at Pune.

The fees for the second semester to be paid at the time of commencement of the second semester.

STUDENTS BELONGING TO RESERVED CATEGORIES AND HOLDING THE APPROPRIATE CASTE CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY SHALL BE EXEMPTEDFROM PAYING THE FEES AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION AS PER THE DIRECTIVES ISSUED BY THE STATE GOVERNMENT OF MAHARASHTRA AND UNIVERSITY OF PUNE.
