PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS MESSAGE: KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE Welcome to London South Bank University On behalf

of the Information Communication Technology Department (ICT) we hope you will enjoy your period of study at the University. ICT provides services to all staff and students and by way of an introduction, here are some useful tips. Please visit the following site for more information: http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/ict/ ICT Support The Centre for Learning Support and Development (CLSD) on 1 South in the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at 105 Borough Road provides handouts and general advice on ICT matters (Email: clsdit@lsbu.ac.uk or phone 020 7815 6678), but if they are unable to resolve a problem, you may be referred to the IT Help Desk (see below for opening times). Your IT Account Once you enrol, you will be given a username and password via the self service web site which will allow you to access the Universitys ICT services. Passwords are valid for 180 days. If you logon regularly on campus you will be reminded when it is due to expire. Everyone gets the email warning, whether you log on remotely or locally starting 14 days before expiry. If you are not picking up LSBU email regularly we suggest that you make a note in your diary and use the student self service web site at http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/selfservice/ to reset the password before expiry. Tip: dont let anyone know your password and dont let anyone else log into your account. If you need to change your password at any time, please go to http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/selfservice/ you do not need to be on campus to do this. You may log in from any PC on campus. We provide an account which remembers the settings and files you use, so that changes you make to your PC desktop will be recorded when you log out, even if you use a different PC next time you log in. This is known technically as a Roaming Profile. Tips: Dont save your files to your desktop as they will be saved with your profile causing lengthy log in and log out times. Do save your files to the I drive where they will be automatically backed up on a regular basis. See http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/ict/newuser/profiles.shtml for more details.

Email Your email address is username@lsbu.ac.uk where username is the name you use to log in.
