Editorial Calendar
You will have the most luck with Facebook if you post consistently. Therefore fill out this calendar/worksheet ahead of time with possible posts. Then check in on your page 2-3 times a week at least and post something. To make it easy and keep on track with engaging people in the right way for social media prioritize posts in this order: 1) 2) 3) 4) If other people have posted to your page, asked questions or shared links--respond! If you have new photos, video, news or interesting comments post those. If there is big news or a big debate in your industry--ask what people what they think. When you dont have much else to sayuse this calendar to save time and keep your posts happening consistently.

Remember that good posts follow the following criteria: 1) They are not always promotional. Try to engage 80% of the time and sell 20% of the time. 2) They use pull rather than push. Asking questions, soliciting feedback, involving people in contests and encouraging respectful dialogue is always better than just putting out information. 3) Facebook has an algorithm that it uses to serve your posts. The more videos, photos and links you have in your posts the more your content will be seen. 4) Dont forget to find interesting ways to take into account seasonal happenings that have nothing directly to do with your business (Mothers Day, First Day of Winter) as well as those directly involved with your industry (Opening day of hunting season etc.) People will like, comment and tell their friends more often if there is a timely quality to your posts. Dont over-post or over complicate things. This does not have to be overwhelming! In many instances there is nothing wrong with a single sentence question or a simple Hey dont forget post. You CAN keep it short and sweet. You dont have to fill out the entire calendar ahead of timebut do think about it and share it with others in your organization. Often a hour brainstorm with 2-3 people will result in 20 or 30 really solid useable posts. You dont have to do this all yourself. Hire a consultant, give it to an intern, ask your mother. Remember you can change, edit or discard posts in the moment as you go. The idea is just to have a back-up resource to keep things easy and on track. Remember to fill out all four columns in the chart- and to take a moment to think about the patterns that emerge. One of the greatest uses of an editorial calendar is to make sure you stay powerfully on message. A Facebook editorial calendar helps you make sure you have a good mix of engagement to promotion, that you are using enough pull content and helps you see if you are under or over using one of the post types.
