Year 1 Homework Term 4

You child is required to do 30 minutes of homework every day. Each night for homework they need to:
1. 2. 3. 4. Copy the spelling words once Complete one spelling activity Complete part of the Math Mentals (1 unit per week only) Read their Home Reader (they can swap books daily) Homework will be given every Monday and should be ready to hand to their teacher on Friday.

Tips on how to give news

Remember to speak loud and clear and to look at the audience. Your Showing News will be more descriptive if you remember to say: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. What it looks like How it feels when you touch it What it smells like What it tastes like What it is used for or how it works.

News Assessment
In week 6 (14th-18th November) the students are to present special news. The topic is My Family. Students can use props to help them with news, for example palm cards, a cardboard with pictures, a PowerPoint presentation or a photo album. The presentation should not be longer than 2 minutes. What they need to say: How many people in their family Who is in their family Cultural background Things they enjoy doing together as a family Students will be assessed on: Content of presentation Volume (using a loud voice) Eye contact (looking at audience)
