SARA Solution Selected by San Antonios Air Force Village for Emergency Response and Mass Notification

Following an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process to replace an older emergency response system at its campuses, Air Force Village selected the SARA alerting engine because of its positioning system (SPS). Charlottesville, VA, October 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Status Solutions, provider of the Situational Awareness and Response Assistant (SARA), today announced that Air Force Village is deploying the solution at its two campuses in San Antonio, Texas. Air Force Village I and II are home to more than 1,200 retired and honorably separated military officers from all uniformed services, their spouses, widows, widowers and eligible family members. Located 7 miles apart, each village is a self-contained community with ranch homes, cottages, high-rise apartments and acres of manicured green space. Following an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process to replace an older emergency response system at its campuses, Air Force Village selected the SARA alerting engine because of its positioning system (SPS). This patent-pending, vector-mapping technology provides highly accurate location data, enabling the staff of Air Force Village to know if one of the residents needs assistance and the location of the emergency. Our former system only tied a mobile pendant back to a housing unit, but the SARA solution enables us to accurately locate the pendant - and the resident - wherever they may be within the community as well as across campuses, explains Jim Hill, Air Force Village's IT director. This feature made it obvious that SARA was the way to go. However, the ability to use SARA for mass notifications and to integrate it later with other systems, such as those used to monitor their chillers, also made the technology the most attractive solution for Air Force Village. The fact that SARA is wireless and also allows the retirement community to leverage its existing safety and security infrastructure - smoke detectors, wireless repeaters and pull strings - further impressed Air Force Village. We really like the SARA technology because it's an integrated, multi-faceted system that does a lot to ensure life safety, Hill continues. We know we made the right choice because we've found a partner in Status Solutions not only for emergency response but also for other key applications. For example, Air Force Village is considering adding on the MIMI (Motion into Meaningful Information) health monitoring solution to enable its staff to monitor residents for falls. This option can help seniors live independently longer, delaying the need to move into assisted or skilled living facilities, and give their families added peace of mind. The SARA implementation at Air Force Village I was completed within two weeks in September with Air Force Village II scheduled to be finished within 10 to 14 days in October.
